well, this picture is incomplete without putting an effort of breaking the demographics further into more specific platforms. Is my 65 year old father considered Gamer as well, when he boots up once a day solitaire or chess on his PC?

 

Edit: Also, I am finding it manipulative, that the top AGE group is 36+. If they have chosen 18 years span for first two groups, they should have made another one with 54+ etc etc...

Sure and if being infamous is your objective in life , not famous, then she has a claim to fame. Personally I only admire overall  positive role models in RL and in history  

But Anita will always be remembered for all the unnecessary conflict and anxiety she helped contribute towards in the gaming industry.  And because most of us arent  sexual bigots we would only focus on her inaccurate generalizations of "white, male gamers " ....I would argue its normal to be aware of  GG  and to be annoyed by it for most gamers because as I mentioned we arent bigots ?

This. What is the distribution across platforms, genres, education levels etc. Also, is it measured in number of hours spent? Amount of money spent? Does the calculation make allowance for maternity leave? Something companies needs to do etc. The only thing I would say is, no matter how large your data set, if you are only measuring a binary outcome, you don't get any averages. If i want to calculate the average bit value in a terabyte it makes no sense telling someone the average value is 1 or 0. Whereas if I want to report on the average byte value, it gets a little bit better. At least if can be a value between 0 and 255 then. Even better for decimal values. Maybe he meant to say the stereotypical gamer is a white male sexist etc. based on his own prejudice.

Reactions to everything these days get blown waaaaaaay out of proportions. Social media is possibly the worst invention of the last 50 years. I mean, it's a tool, it can be used for good or bad, but in practice the bad has outnumbered the good by several country miles. There have always been extremists on every end of the spectrum, there have always been wackos, and there have always been trolls.

In the past, these nut jobs were (mostly) confined to their little corner of the world. They might lose their **** at a town hall meeting, spray paint hateful messages on a wall, or whatever. This would be a headache for the folks living in that community, but that's as far as it usually went, outside of the few disturbed individuals ambitious and charismatic enough to become cult leaders.

Social media has provided these lunatics a GIANT megaphone with which to pester the entire planet. Unfortunately, there is a decent chunk of the population that is easily swayed. So you get someone with a strong, possibly incendiary opinion. You have someone else with an equally incendiary reaction. In the past this would be a shouting match somewhere that may end with a fist fight (or worse in extreme cases). That would essentially be the end of it. Now you have scumbag profiteers jumping in online seeking an opportunity to gain power or profit from the conflict, trolls lighting fires on all sides because they get off on chaos, and a bunch of sheep me too-ing (no pun intended) because they are easily manipulated. To make matters worse, social media made all news instantaneous. Gone are the days of investigative journalism and fact checking. You gotta get the story out first. If you're not first you get no views, so just copy & paste that statement that may or may not be a complete fabrication, and post it as quickly as possible. If it turns out to be a lie we'll post a retraction that nobody will read, **** it.

Unfortunatelly, it looks like open world game again I liked Star Ocean 5 despite all of the cheesiness, but I spent as more time running around empty areas than fighting and reading the story together... Still kind of looking forward to this with small hope in the eyes.

 

And I kinda hope, this will be story about Gabrielle Celeste and the Ethereal Queen. Will be probably disappointed though

SO1 and SO2 are available on PSP, so probably, you can buy them on Vita Store, also I think SO1 had some remaster for PS4 and Switch. SO3 is available on PS2 or PS4 classics, SO4 is available on PS3, PS4 and Windows (or gutted version on 360), SO5 is PS4. So there are some options to play it. My recommendation, do not start with SO4. Even though I have platinum trophy and 750hours in it, it is has the most boring story of them all

OMG! This is almost word for word the same lecture I give to all my students in all my clases every semester! So good to see I'm not alone in seeing social media this way.

The moment FB accepted responsibility to somehow monitor and reduce " toxic usage " it created the impossible objective of being consistent with what anyone on the left or  right says that others would consider inaccurate. And I have been very hurt and offended by what some people have said about " whiteness " and topics like critical race theory

Because Kanie you know white people have feelings to and no ones wants revisionist history  or selective outrage about a so called "fact " that the US is an example of systemic racism ....and I dont agree with that at all. For  example I dont think I have ever met one active forum member who is a racist? We had a member called WOD who identified with white nationalists and not white supremacist ideology and he was the  closest to a racist but I dont consider him a normal racist like a kkk member 

And its not  because I am sensitive to these topics in a knee jerk reaction sense its because I will only accept  statements like this if they are based on the actual data and reality. SA and the Apartheid system is a clear example of systemic racism but the US is an example of people being racist 

And you cannot  address bigotry like this by suggesting that the problem  is systemic....it doesnt make sense and just alienates people who feel alienated by this type of generalization
