KDubya Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 (edited) Hmmm, I don't think you get it... There's a well constructed reason it doesn't make sense to me, as someone else pointed out already in the thread, the very same people complaining about this now played Fallout 3 and New Vegas and didn't complain then. When Bethesda took over the franchise, nobody complained and furthermore, it is the ultimate proof that a genre change, as well as mechanics and perspective change doesn't call for community paranoia. With this experience, you'd figure that people wouldn't be as such lol Sorry, I had to clean off my screen as I spewed coffee out while laughing. Thankfully I didn't also piss myself When Bethesda took over the franchise, nobody complained and furthermore, it is the ultimate proof that a genre change, as well as mechanics and perspective change doesn't call for community paranoia I take it that you've never been to the 'No Mutants Allowed' website, especially back when Fallout three came out. The hate there is strong for Bethesda and what they did to Fallout. When New Vegas came out the hate was replaced with acceptance as they made a great Fallout game but Fallout 4 doubled down and went full on 'murder-death simulator 2.0' and further threw out any similarities to a Fallout game. Now Fallout 4 is a fun game, perhaps even great, but it is a terrible Fallout game. I really hope that they don't remake Baldurs Gate into a Skyrim clone. Edited October 10, 2018 by KDubya 3
SonicMage117 Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 Lol Eneresting. I've never heard of it which tells me it must've small website? And possibly smaller than Obsidian forums? At least that's my guess.. Sometimes it's hard to remmeber that a few people that keep commenting the same thing over and over often makes an issue appear bigger than what it really is (this thread or Steam forums for example) but in hardly annyone at all though, nor do the common mindset of a forum ever generalize a community as a whole - even if members on a website/forums would like to pretend otherwise. Steam is great because the thing that often happens is that when someone doesn't like something, they'll make multiple threads saying the same thing in different wording. Fortunately, we don't have that problem here. Just what do you think you're doing?! You dare to come between me and my prey? Is it a habit of yours to scurry about, getting in the way and causing bother? What are you still bothering me for? I'm a Knight. I'm not interested in your childish games. I need my rest. Begone! Tale Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 Bhaal's plan succeeded, Volourn. I think a Cyric v Bane and Bhaal conflict could be a decent basis for a new Bhaalspawn story. Bhaal got what he wanted, doesn't care, but Cyric finds some other generational or surviving descendents and starts pushing them around just to start problems. Or at least he starts spreading rumors and lies about it. Heck, Cyric's church were Sarevok's allies because Cyric really doesn't care about anything but causing chaos and Bhaalspawn were a way to do that. So that's just one angle to bring it back. 3 "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."

Wasn't Cyric imprisoned and depowered for 1000 years by Lathander and Liiria as per Ao decree for killing Mystra and causing a Spellplague? Not to mention, his portfolio took an enormous hit due to the return of the Dead Three. So he's theoretically a non-issue now. But still, it is 5e we are talking about. And 5e is very 'pick-and-choose' about the canon. In 5e Forgotten Realms official canon and metastory at this point doesn't exist. It's all a mish-mash of diferrent information from both new and old sources - most of them contradictory. We literally don't know what gods are canonically active on Toril now, beacuse ALL of them are back - including the most obscure ones (Keptolo?). So I have no idea how one is going to pull off a "canon" story in BG 3. Edited October 10, 2018 by aksrasjel

Bethesda took one of the most beloved franchises and turned it into a ****ty Elder Scrolls with guns. Everything KDubya wrote is true. Fallout ended with numer 2. 3/NV/4 are a completely different game, and while they might be fine as stand-alone, they are not true Fallout at all. Changes and improvements to gameplay are generally a great idea, but turning a good tactical RPG into a friggin shooter was a kick in the nuts. I did enjoy NV and F4, but only as an interesting shooter, not a continuation of Fallout legacy. See where the series is going now. The next "Fallout" game we get is a damn shooter MMO :D I really feel bad for the series. 2
Tale Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 So he's theoretically a non-issue now.Bhaal was a dead middling god. Cyric is a trapped greater god. I think Cyric's ability to influence things is a bit higher at the moment than Bhaal's was in the original games. That said, my speculation of what they could do is bordering on fanfiction. Just trying to say there's storylines they could do that at least intersect with the Bhaalspawn saga or turn it in some way. 1 "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."

I'm not sure why you think you're teaching me about the Fallout franchise, everything you're saying I already knew. New Vegas has always been and is still considered the best Fallout game by the vast majority and it's easy to see why. The complex systems and attention to detail were what made it superior to Fallout 1&2. It's true that the older games had more choice if that's where you're getting at but that doesn't mean the choices were as relevant as they were in New Vegas. You forgot to mention Fallout Tactics btw, which was the first time Fallout actually shifted genres. Did everyone go crazy then too? It surely wasn't the greatest tactical rpg game but it wasn't a "Fallout" game by your definition either. So it didn't exactly end at Fallout 2, the again it was never truly established as a one genre type of franchise because of Tactics either. So everything you wrote is not entirely true.... Hurlshort Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 Actually agree with Sonic here. The idea that an artist who has dominated multiple genres of music both as a writer and a performer is not good is ridiculous. I may not be the target audience of her work, but it would be arrogant of me to dismiss Taylor Swift as an artist. 3
Chilloutman Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 oh dont get me wrong, I admire her talents as well she is dominating as Justin Beiber do I'm the enemy, 'cause I like to think, I like to read. SonicMage117 Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 I don't think most people realize that Taylor Swift started out as country artist then moved to pop and dipped her toes in some rock, metal and r&b. The crossraods event was nice to see because she proved that she can headbang with the rest of them. However, getting 5 guys together and playing something with 3 half stacks or full stacks and making it sound good is the easiest thing in the world, where the real test of talent comes is when you strip things down, take all those effects away, and see who can actually perform - all to which Taylor has done exceptional at. Justin Bieber on the other hand uses auto-tune, has lip-synced at least once, and doesn't write his own music. It was strange to see that Taylor's voice and stage presence perfectly fitted in with Def Leppards music but Def Leppard didn't sound all that great covering her songs at the concert. Hmmm... An eye opener to versatility and it's uses with talent of the industry. Just what do you think you're doing?! You dare to come between me and my prey? Hurlshort Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 (edited) oh dont get me wrong, I admire her talents as well she is dominating as Justin Beiber do Not to be crass, but are you referring to her looks? I don't really get that. I mean, she's a nice looking girl, but I'd hardly say that her looks stand out. Kelly Clarkson makes similar music, would you dismiss her as well? Beiber is a very different case. Sonic already explained well enough, but he is still putting out good music despite it being more about his producers. It just isn't music you like. Again, that is not a problem. Not everything has to be created for your tastes. But it is arrogant to assume that means it is bad. Despacito is super catchy though, so you are missing out on that one. Kind of makes me think of how I love Guns n' Roses, but I know Axle is a total tool. I'm not even sure if I would say he was talented, but he made great music with that band. Edited October 10, 2018 by Hurlshot

I take it you have no experience in the music industry, what you said is comparable to saying a luanchpad specialist/expert is more talented than 12 piece analog drum-kit amateur, there just isn't much reason behind that logic. Though if we lived in a world where backing tracks and anti-talent Trump'd legit talent and the ability to be unplugged then what you said may be true. If use of Loops and track stations equal talent then the earth be flat after all. Break that guys labtop or cut the power at the venue and see how long he will be able to entertain an audience (They'll walk out of the nightclub and into the Ascend Ampithwater where if power is lost the entertainment will still be better).
