  1. Well the main thing that is required for that to work is a big supply of surplus souls somewhere (the beyond perhaps). Without this not only is population effectively capped, but at the rate we see the negative effects of the fragmenting and recombining of souls (a few generations in many cases) I don't think the large time scales work. Not that I mind all that much. I can suspend my disbelieve. I just like to think about these things. I think it's safe to say she isn't entirely trustworthy.
  2. That's for the developer to judge, and it's pretty clear that, at least, Josh read other forums (SA and Reddit, possibly others). Sure, the whole online community for Deadfire won't be representative but I suspect that those who don't discuss the game online aren't all that bothered about balance anyway.
  3. I'd say in PoE Wizards, along with Druids and Priests, were in a class of their own power wise. Non-specialised Wizards are a lot weaker in comparison, though I think they are in a reasonable place now* (if tune them up a little, but not much). Specialist Wizards on the other hand are mostly bad. *I sing like the way they play anymore, but that's not feel than anything else.
  4. There doesn't need to be an objective metric (though they can be useful in discussion). If a large majority of players agree that a class is under/overpowered (by their own internal metrics) then it's with the devs looking at. If there's healthy debate about a classes power is probably not. We don't need everyone to agree.
  5. But then it's just down to everyone's "experience" and how they "feel" and whatnot. And thereby it's just down to subjective interpretations which will be all over the place since there are as many opinions as there are players. Some will say rogue is the best and some will say rogue is the worst. A discussion of balance becomes meaningless if there is no common ground to agree upon. If a given class is obviously worse than others there isn't real debate. Everyone knows it. If there's heated debate like you describe then, for a single player game, balance is in a pretty good place (see PoE).
  6. Click on the “oooooo, shiny!” And than on the character portrait. Thanks. I had tried clicking on the character model on the battlefield and on the resource counter but not the portrait. Note I might use Empower more.
  7. There must be loads born given that they are "commonly killed at birth because many cultures consider them harbingers of doom."
  8. Okay this is a little embarrassing to admit, but I haven't been able to figure out how to use Empower to restore my lost resources.
  9. In believe that in PoE you couldn't go below 1. Probably the same in Deadfire.
  10. Yep, corrected my post. I assumed that, since Yosharian mentioned radius you'd treated it as radius in Deadfire too. I'd say dumping is pretty similar between the two. In the old system you lost a little more than 10% area per point below 10 at first, but this slowed down to a little less than 10% per point as you went lower. So for mild dumping the new system is better and it only becomes worse if you drop to Intellect 4 or 3 (and even then, hardly by much). It's a lot worse above 10 though definitely.
  11. Yes but Intellect now affects area directly, not radius, and the two aren't linearly proportional. My bad, reread your post and I realise you realised that.
  12. Sure, I'm not actually expecting then to get sneak attack, just thought it was a nice way to give it to them.
  13. Actually I'd say this is a good idea, though instead of making it be a new passive just allow Priests of Skaen to pick Sneak Attack as a passive at power level 2. Obviously if you're multiclassed with the Rogue that option won't be available since you already have Sneak Attack.
  14. It's impossible to say at this point. The beta only covers a tiny sliver of content so we don't know which attributes or skills will appear most often in dialogues and scripted events. What can be said from the beta is that attribute checks seem less common, and that you can sometimes use your companions skills in checks rather than your own.
  15. That's not how evil twins work though. Evil twins only differ from their good version by the presence of a goatee. Basically your evil twin is a less hairy version of you.
  16. Doesn't Chanter pretty much overtake everyone in very short order when they hit level 9?
  17. I don't know the exact details regarding DoTs, MaxQuest would be the person to ask about that.
  18. I'll have to pay more careful attention to him in my next play through. I checked the guide and there wasn't really anything about it that I could see.
  19. Those are inaccurate. They don't track DoTs, damage done by pets or summons, and (iirc) they do include over kill damage. MaxQuest made a mod that fixes most of these issues.
  20. I tested it yesterday and, sadly, no. I was hoping that they counted as unarmed, but they don't. Would be great if Obsidian could add a proficiency for Claws (or give it automatically to all Druids or, at least, Shifters).
  21. Why are you ruining the Black Isle Bastards Fluffle. They were so cool and you went and made them pink and flamingo based!
  22. If you don't want to that's absolutely fine. I'll live with them (or use others). They might well be changed for release anyway.
  23. As I understand it (which is probably wrongly) Concentration acts like a one time shield against Interrupts, so if you get hit by an ability that can Interrupt (not all abilities can anymore) and you have a charge of Concentration you don't get interrupted but you lose that charge. I'm not sure whether you can stack Concentration charges or whether you can only have one at a time (I'm sure someone here knows).
