  1. Are there ways to force enemies to disengage? If not how useful did you find the +10 penetration on disengagement attacks?
  2. Is it worth taking Defender Stance (or whatever the extra engagements Fighter stance is called)? On the one hand you'll likely end up with more engagement slots than you can realistically use (six with a shield), but on the other the auto-prone upgrade of Guardian Stance looks to be pretty good.
  3. I've been toying with the idea of playing an Unbroken/Shield Bearer. Not sure how good it'll be, but I like the idea of playing an effective tank.
  4. I'd hope that at some point down the line the rewards are released as a free bundled DLC for all platforms. It would be weird if people who want them, even on Steam, in six months time do have to input 55 codes into this portal.
  5. I haven't completed it either... I'm not sure what it is. I was enjoying it but i got to a point and whenever I boot up the game I play for about 5 minutes and can't bring myself to carry on. I've noticed that games have a certain kind of momentum. I've discovered I pretty much need to finish a game all in one continuous time period. If I stop for a while and try to come back, I've lost the immersion and the enthusiasm. Same, I can't pick up a playthrough after a break, I have to start from scratch. I also find PoE takes a certain mindset to play. I have to be in the mood to really concentrate.
  6. It's not though, for the reason I said before. If the RPG Codex review poster had been moderated here (banned or otherwise) they would have gone back to Codex and started a narrative about how Obsidian is censoring criticism. If the same thing happened on SA they wouldn't have been able to make that argument, since SA isn't run by Obsidian. As for social media, Twitter doesn't really support long discussions, you'll simply get people saying "PoE sucks" or similar; and Josh selects which questions to answer on his Tumblr account (if you ask a question it won't appear until he answers it, so he can simply not answer it if he doesn't want to). It would be great for us if the devs interacted more with this community, but I don't think it's worth it for them.
  7. Yeah, at the moment we know next to nothing about the tone of Deadfire. We've done a few sidequests and nothing else. I'll wait until I've played the game before worrying.
  8. I'd prefer there be no xp at all for removing traps, but if there is going to be this seems like a good idea.
  9. Not very. You'd do the same if you were quoting a fictional character as well (though you'd include the work of fiction as well as their name). How else are we supposed to know which character the quote is from?
  10. Good question. To an extent I think it's just expected that sufficiently large developers will have a forum. It's also difficult to get rid of it now that it exists for the same sort of reasons as moderating it more strictly. That's the thing though: do they want to? By the way, I'm not disagreeing with you. I'd prefer a more strictly moderated experience too.
  11. I've been plenty critical of the way Deadfire is going/has gone. I try (though probably fail) not to make it personal, so if it's hero worshipping not to "the devs are idiots for doing X" then I guess I'm a hero worshipper, but I'm not shy about criticising the changes to mechanics in Deadfire (armour/penetration, removal of per rest, resting mechanics, overly long recovery times and others). I've even stated, at least once, that in its current state I probably won't replay Deadfire anywhere near as much as I did PoE because it just doesn't appeal to me in the same way. No one has jumped on me for doing so. Sonic gets a negative response not because this forum is full of rabid Obsidian fan boys, but because of the way he posts. This thread title is, as Boeroer says, the epitome of clickbait. In another thread he essentially said that Katrina Garsten's leaving was a sign that things were going badly for Deadfire's development: pure speculation stated as fact. People then point out that he's reading far too much into things and he responds with his standard persecuted newcomer speech. After a few threads like this, people lost patience with him. That would be great but I doubt it'll happen. This being the official Obsidian forums they have to be very careful with their moderating. If they ban a bunch of trolls say, they run the risk of the narrative being twisted into "games company censors criticism". I just don't think it's worth the risk for them.
  12. It took me a little time to figure out how to get post the outer curtain wall of Card Nua
  13. It was +2 for each expansion, so 14 for WM1 and 16 for WM2.
  14. Very impressive! The Ultimate is an achievement that really is an Achievement.
  15. Or perhaps, unlike you presumably, I prefer reading in most cases.
  16. You've highlighted why I think the new armour system is worse than the old one Dunehunter. Having more penetration did sheets be a good thing, but under the current system it is often not. As for weapon proficiencies, I really don't like the system. I dislike being forced to not and more (thus cluttering my hotbars) and I think, with a few exceptions, most are just bad.
  17. It's a Friend's reference. Your description sounds surprisingly like Ross's does. If you buy it on Steam you can make use of the Steam refund to see whether it'll run and, if not, refund it. A lot of devs justify the lack of demos this way so it seems fair enough to use it this way too.
  18. That would be terrifying. "I want more cake" "You've already had two slices" *Casts Kalakoth's freezing rake*
  19. I much prefer painted portraits to screenshots style portraits used in, say, DA:O.
  20. Not got anything to add, but in case Obsidian are watching this thread I'll add that I agree.
  21. Why would remembering your previous incarnation require that you start at a level higher than 1? Yes you have the same soul, but you need to learn to use it (in exactly the same way the original Watcher did whilst leveling up throughout PoE).
  22. Simple, go with my original idea: new character who is the reincarnation on the Watcher.
