First impression on full ability tree
No argument from me. Shadowstep seems at least somewhat magical in nature.

First impression on full ability tree
To be fair it's easier to come up with cool abilities for spell casting classes like Chanters, or even Paladins. By and large Rogues are supposed to be non-magical so you have to find some way to make attacking with your mundane weapons and/or stealthing as cool as summoning a Dragon. That said, in PoE I felt they did a good job with Fighters and Rangers despite the same limitations. For Rangers it was the combination of Twinned Shot (sadly kinda ruined in Deadfire) and Driving Flight: it wasn't flashy but that simply multiplication by 4 was cool enough to be appealing. With Fighters you had Charge: again fairly mundane but powerful and it changed the way the class worked in an interesting way.

First impression on full ability tree
Yeah it is a bit disappointing. I was hoping Obsidian would manage to create some more exciting Rogue high level abilities. The main thing that put me off Rogues in PoE was not that they were weak (they weren't really) it was that their abilities just didn't appeal to me.

What class(s) are you planning making your first character and why?
JerekKruger replied to Riftis's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)On the other hand healing seems more important than it was in PoE and Priests are very good at it. On the other other hand Xoti seems better suited to Priesting than Durance.

Cool gears in the new sneak peak
Thanks for the hard work to those who went to the effort of screen capping these. Looks like some very interesting items and Obsidian certainly seem to have learnt the lesson of vanilla PoE's rather mundane items. The staff looks interesting, though until we know how much it scales with Mysticism it'll be hard to say whether it's really good (if it's 1% per point then it'd probably cap out at around 25-30%, depending on other sources of bonus Mysticism, which is pretty decent). If I were being pedantic I'd say crossbows fire bolts or quarrels, not arrows

The Console Command Thread
JerekKruger replied to malchiorita's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Sure, but then why worry about achievements: test the combo and if you like it start a new game where you don't cheat.

The Console Command Thread
JerekKruger replied to malchiorita's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)How does giving yourself 10k experience help you decide which multiclass to pick?

JerekKruger replied to Ethics Gradient's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Only the "iroll20s" command and commands that need it. The Cosmic pets don't need it apparently.

Companion sub-classes?
JerekKruger replied to bleedthefreak's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Power Level 9 summoning spell that summons a giant beast aspect of Galawain. I'm a sucker for summoning spells so it's very tempting.

Companion sub-classes?
JerekKruger replied to bleedthefreak's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Oh I thought you meant something unique to his subclass. I assume L4wlight meant his sub was bad compared to a vanilla Chanter.

Companion sub-classes?
JerekKruger replied to bleedthefreak's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Constant AoE buff for free and a second renewable resource for Foe AoE offensive spells is disappointing? You’re hard to please. Huh? As far as I can tell he gets some cross class spells that he can cast as invocations and loses access to summoning spells. What constant AoE buff and second renewable resource do you mean?

Thread for those of us who want to roll a single or multi rogue....lets talk
JerekKruger replied to master guardian's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Maybe that's where the confusion about whether it was 20% or 30% came from.

Monks should invest in perception?
JerekKruger replied to PatrioticChief's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Same. For me 8 is the floor on how low I'll dump a stat.
-
Monks should invest in perception?
JerekKruger replied to PatrioticChief's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)To answer PatrioticChief's question, though I am far from the best theorycrafter, I'd be inclined to say Might, Dexterity and Perception are the three most important stats for a Monk, with Constitution in there depending on your build and subclass (more important for Helwalker, less for Shattered Pillar).
-
Monks should invest in perception?
JerekKruger replied to PatrioticChief's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)True, but if 10 is average and 5 is clumsy what's 3?

The Deadfire Scavenger Codes - WE FOUND THEM ALL - Cutthroat Cosmo! - Bonus Pets!
JerekKruger replied to Ethics Gradient's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Obsidian said they'd work on it. I suspect they'll end up releasing these items as a freeLC at some point after release and that's when the GoG people will get them.
-
Monks should invest in perception?
JerekKruger replied to PatrioticChief's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)The game itself describes Dexterity 5 as clumsy and 10 as average so I don't think that's true.
