  1. I really liked Wizardry 8 except one thing. Formations. I really hate it in games when the opponent in combat has options that the player can't have. That's a cheap way to make combat "challenging" to me. Often the difficulty in fights in Wiz8 weren't because of facing or poor squad formation or something similar like you'd expect in the style of game. It was because enemy spell lobbers could hit your entire group with spells EVERY ROUND because you were locked in a close formation but because they weren't locked into formation you'd be lucky to hit both of their spell casters at once and you'd rarely get more than one round where you *might* be able to hit most of their group with a spell. Otherwise it was a fun game. Disliked that particular "feature" though something fierce; I don't recall it being a part of the early Wizardry's (which were more traditional - PC/Enemy fight in formation in turns as I recall) and I don't know if that was something that crept into the 4-5 Wizardrys I never played before 8.
  2. I try to get 8. I usually get 7 and take a nap on Saturday or Sunday to restore the loss. And talking about this has made me yawn...
  3. Cauliflower > Broccoli I'm weird on Broccoli and Cauliflower to be honest - love them raw, dislike them cooked. But raw cauliflower is awesome.
  4. Ant-Man was (in the comics) a founding Avenger. That said, he rather quickly became Giant-Man in the comics (a little over a year after his debut). Shrinking dudes were a hard sell in the 1960s (DC's The Atom didn't do well either compared to other Silver Age stalwarts). The longest run for a shrinking hero was Doll Man in the "Golden Age", appearing in 1939 as a headline in Feature Comics and holding two books (Feature and Doll Man) through 1949 (when he was dropped from Feature) and then in 1953 his solo title was cancelled. Of superheroes from the same publisher, only Plastic Man fared better than Doll Man. In comparison to Doll Man's 159 appearances, Ant-Man had 14 before becoming Giant Man, while the Atom lasted 38 issues solo after his 3 issue tryout in SHOWCASE. Obviously teams were a thing in the 1960s that they weren't as much in the 1940s, so Ant-Man and Atom rack up a large number of appearances in teams (Avengers for Ant-Man and Justice League for Atom) that Doll Man didn't (he wasn't added into a team until the early 1970s). Atom's & Hawkman's books were also combined in the late 60s to try and save both low selling titles, giving Atom 7 more appearances as a superhero duo with Hawkman. That's probably more information about shrinking heroes than you ever wanted.
  5. Its funny, I thought the Thing prequel was pretty good...until I watched it with the earlier film. It proved a poor cousin indeed. Although I still enjoyed some parts of it, it's not a patch on either earlier film.
  6. MEGAFORCE (1982) - Stuntmaster Hal Needham's ode to motorcycles and dune buggies. And possibly gay men if you believe modern interpretations of the film. Okay so I watch a lot of bad films. I'm not going to deny it. But even with that background, this movie made me "WTF" several times. At its heart, its a loosely strung together series of stunt setpieces (motorcycle jumps, dune buggy jumps, wheelies) with some action movie explosions (and lasers, because its post STAR WARS). It makes virtually no sense; the plot is about as thin as you'd ever see in any film. With all the explosions and lasers, the most incredible effect might actually be Barry Bostwick's hair, which should have won the Academy Award that year. I'm not sure what category or if Oscar just needed to create a special hair Oscar that year like the Shirley Temple or Snow White special oscars they did in the past. But its totally incredible and unlike anything on film before or since.
  7. I thought hating people for not holding the "right" opinion was what the "SJWs" were supposed to represent. The more I hear from both sides the more they sound like opposite sides of the same coin.
  8. Should be one thread. Unless the posts are problematic, I don't see a reason for mods to nuke threads. It would be nice to have one thread rather than one in each forum.
  9. I'd like to see more wild orlans. And Aumana. And then Godlikes. Also... New Class confirmed?
  10. "Even a broken clock is right twice a day." Bye.
  11. I nominate BruceVC to voice every line of dialogue in the game, but in a "romantic" way. This way we get both. Suggestion for Voice Acting model (Male):
  12. Thanks. I stand corrected. But that is one bad graphic (I guess they wanted to take the tumblr text and make it look more like a tweet or something). Reading through the tumblr, I think that's the point.
  13. I'm calling shenanigans on this one. Every object on the screen has artifacts surrounding them and the name is (rather conveniently) blacked out so no one can go to tumblr and see the original (if it were to exist). I'd think if it were a legit screenshot it'd actually look like a screenshot (and why would you want to block the name from view if you're either promoting or decrying the opinion?)
  14. So if any of that is remotely true. What she is saying is that the management of the company she is in charge of is sexist because they are unable to negotiate and award salaries without gender based prejudice. So her solution is to punish the guy at the bottom... Solid logic. Iknorite wtf? Also how is "men negotiate better than women" not a sexist statement? That's the first time I've heard that one and I'd love to hear her reasoning and evidence behind that statement. I'd suspect (but don't know) that the argument would be something like this: *Western society approves aggressiveness and outspokenness in men but discourages it in women *Women are trained in western society to not question authority or to stand up for themselves *therefore society respects and responds to an assertive male, but not an assertive female *therefore men negotiate better than women because this is what society thinks is acceptable; women will be seen negatively if they negotiate and are trained by society not to negotiate Also, since Sad Puppies was brought up here, George R.R. 15. Friend of mine in the military said ordering a beer in German consisted of giving the "thumbs up" sign. If you couldn't do the "thumbs up" you were too drunk and cut off. Otherwise, it was a "universal language" kind of deal. I'mway otnay uresay igpay atinlay ountscay asway anway extraway anguagelay. Amscray, uysgay!
  16. Something similar to the Apple ad happened when a University used a stock photo on a cover to their Continuing Education catalog recently: http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2015/03/college-catalogue-shows-white-men-winning-it-all.html
  17. I had this problem in college, when I'd studied French and Spanish - mind you I had the additional problem that the two languages are very similar. I'd often answer my Spanish instructor in a mix of Spanish and French (usually starting in Spanish and ending in French). Sadly those unused skills are far beyond me, I can read very little of both and speak almost none...
  18. I think what you call "adjust" most people call "early signs of hypothermia". I keed, I keed...
  19. Can't have enough of that. But it is a trailer so they have to show the sexy, flashy bits. Corny monologue too, "their darkness must end" Maybe he's going to buy them some light fixtures at Home Depot and install them to end the darkness?
  20. I'm not sure I really wanted the mental image in my head of people snatching Putin's sausage...
  21. I read it as an outside of the local area LGBT group came in trying to stir something up, the local gay population told them they didn't want any part of it, the outside group left. You right that could be what he meant, I just don't believe it The LGBT community faces enough discrimination on a daily faces from people who push a homophobic agenda I find it hard to believe they would discriminate against themselves like that especially in a place like Poland which is relatively conservative about gay rights anyway. I would think the LGBT community would stick together but you never know Why would you support someone you think is doing more harm to you than good? Not everyone agrees with the path of an organization even if the organization is nominally "for" them. This isn't an LGBT example, but I know a local college had a group of students create a second African-American student organization because they felt the existing organization didn't give enough support to the causes and programs that that group of students felt was important.
  22. Well I suppose you can always set up a tent outside the RV to make the experience more authentic ? You could put a tent up in your living room, but it doesn't make it camping. I kid, I kid. Seriously though, I have no interest in camping unless the post-apocalyptic wastelands are on us. And I still wouldn't have an interest in camping amid the radiation, radscorpions and killer mutant critters with a taste for flesh, but might not have any say in the matter at that point.1 1Awww, who am I kidding, I'll be killer mutant critter chow within minutes of the post-apocalypse happening - I'd never survive long enough to sleep under the irradiated sky.
  23. I read it as an outside of the local area LGBT group came in trying to stir something up, the local gay population told them they didn't want any part of it, the outside group left.
  24. Pretty sure the current correct usage would be to say "she". Ah so use the gender they're aiming for and not the one they were born with, makes sense, thank you for the clarification. Edit: Well I know what i'm making for dinner now, this thread has one purpose. If you're talking about transsexuals, yes. But if they're gender fluid, I have no clue what the best pronoun is, you should probably ask the person in question what they prefer. Good point, I'm not familiar really with gender fluidity, so my basis of reference may be somewhat off base with respect to them.
