Question for reals - Why has Sensuki not liking a game suddenly become open season to ascribe a motive to him for not liking the game (beyond that...he doesn't like the game) and then argue against that motive? I mean really, why the hell does anyone care (beyond normal posting on a message board kind of care) that Sensuki doesn't like the game? Or that Darth Roxxor doesn't like the game? And why constantly try to diminish their dislike of the game by ascribing these motives to them. Does it allow you to disregard their opinions by declaring them "sour grapes" (whether they are or not)? Does it make you're liking the game somehow more "legitimate" if you can dispel the notion that someone might honestly dislike the game?

To be fair, when you advertise your game as the spiritual successor to BG (and IWD and PST) then comparisons to BG would seem to be natural. And even if comparisons directly between a modern game and an 15 year old game weren't "reasonable" (something I don't agree with) you could still make comparisons to how they are relative to their respective contexts of time.

Suggestions for the Expansion

How do you have the stronghold on act 1? Act 1 ends when you get the stronghold. -
Yeah I enjoyed RIPD too - its hard to believe it took a 15 years for someone to try a legitimate Big Budget MiB clone.

I fixed the stat system too. Mine involved 256 individual stats, the ability to assign 1,024 points between the stats, and a 70 minute power point presentation entitled "How to determine your new PoE character with this new stat system in 120 easy flow charts" with accompanying 120 flow charts as hand-outs.

Obsidian: PoE was critical success, so kickstart KotOR III NOW!

People change the end of stories because they realize that the story works better with change. This really isn't the same thing but I knew a fictional example was dicey... My point is that a review will ultimately be your judgement. If you get to the end of an article that is based solely on your judgement and are surprised at the results, there's something uncannily self-unaware in yourself to not realize what your own judgement is.

No, god damn no. That's the opposite of a review. That's a simple rationalization of the persons own gut reaction and biases. A review is the opposite, namely a careful and honest analysis of the individual elements of the game, which then grounds a fair conclusion based on this, despite of what oppinion the person had prior to writing it. If done well, the conclusion is often supprising to the reviewer him/her-self. Ultimately all a review is a report of an evaluation or inspection of something. The criteria of the evaluation is just as valid if it is "did I like it" or "is this a good representation of its type" or even "how does this compare to genre leader". And frankly (and IMO) it'd be impossible for a reviewer to be surprised by their own conclusions, only surprised by the thing they reviewed. What you're arguing for would be the fiction writing equivalent of Agatha Christie getting to the end a novel and thinking "The sister is the killer? That Poirot - what a surprising little man, I totally thought the butler did it..."

All they had to do with the memorial was review submission, type it in file, press "save" and double checking final results. I'm sure they totally could have solved 5-6 critical bugs in that time. Such a waste of their resources...

mediocre bland RPGs like PoE could happen But they OWN PoE, I said IPs they don't own (like the thread starters suggestion, KOTOR III) -
Probably showed up in a bunch of things. I know Chester Gould's comic strip D ick Tracy had one in 1946 (original one I think just was a radio communicator; later he had one with picture communication!)

I like cats. But I own no pets. -
Watched Ex Machina (2015) - nice, tension building sci-fi film about a guy secretly brought in to test an AI but can anyone (even the main character) be trusted? Really well done, I thought. Lightning Bolt (1965) - part of the Eurospy movement; sadly not a great entry and not one of the entries that are so bad its good. Fitfully engaging, but it felt like there was a much better film in the material than what was delivered.

Pretty sure whether the person was "locked away" (much less treated) would be highly variable depending on whether the person was still functioning in society and/or a danger to themselves or other. A person who feels a kinship with Napoleon, buys Napoleonic things, dresses as Napoleon in their spare time... perhaps even thinks they were Napoleon in a past life but who holds a steady job, has not trouble with the police and doesn't intend to conscript an army and conquer Europe would probably be ignored by the mental health profession in the US. 1976 Summer Olympics Gold Medal winner in the Decathlon; he set a world record with his win (that stood until 1980) and was considered quite the star in the US at the time. He also was in the comedy flop Can't Stop the Music that was a showcase vehicle for the Village People. Why you should care...well that's personal innit? If you don't care you don't care.

Another weekend...another restart of PoE. We'll see if this character is the final one...

With respect to attacking and killing vs dialogue agression, it is probably an issue that can't be resolved. Just because you kill random people doesn't necessarily mean you were aggressive. You could have killed them quietly and politely... And why does Heodan look like you stripped him naked before killing him? Was it some sort of dom-sub thing that got out of hand? 50 Shades of Eternity?

Well...we got the game. That's what I contributed for - to give Obsidian a chance to make a game. Liking it is gravy to that goal for me. -

Age verification, methinks. Actually, I think embedding videos circumvents age verification... Yes that does appear to be the case. Which is pretty surprising, really.

I love classic Doctor Who. Total mark for the classic show; love watching it and have done so repeatedly. But I can still point out when the set wobbles. With respect to PoE; people who like it might not like everything (or perhaps just think some things could be done better even if it is good as is) and the people who don't like clearly have stronger issues. HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY won Best Picture in 1942 and was a well received film...should it have won over CITIZEN KANE? Being well received is only part of a story (although the part production companies tend to care about because good reception tends to equate to sales). I'm such a herbivore. To be honest, I basically kept my expectations at "Made by Obsidian, Isometric view, fantasy RPG". I felt it was the best way to not get hung up on the D&D aspects of the IE games (or how the IE games implemented them) and be dissapointed that the game could never be D&D. -
Will we ever see an cRPG with semi-realistic combat?
Amentep replied to eschaton's topic in Computer and Console
I may not have medieval combat experience, but I have had experience casting magic missles, fireballs and horrid wilting. Totally legit. Was it Tacos night? Curry. -

Well games were better at that time than what we get now. People would not analyze PoE so much if it was as good as BG. To be fair, I'm sure people analyzed BG as well. It's only naturally to analyze that which you enjoy, right? Or want to enjoy in some cases. Yeah, you couldn't read through three threads without Karzak complaining about dual wielding being misimplemented in BG/BG2. But you did have 6'8" Italian Warlord revealing how to find the Terrasque in the Oasis in Bg2, so there was that, at least...
