When the Hell do you get to pick a prestige class?
Unabomber replied to Grandpa's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
If you're level 15, and sufficiently light or dark, and have Visas in your entourage (might not be necessary, but still...), then all you need to do is speak with Kreia when you get back to the Ebon Hawk. If the time is right, then as soon as you talk to her, she'll start off by saying something about how it's time to stop hiding from enemies. BTW, if you are stuck in the Academy, just don't level up. -

Focus all of your attacks on Malak only. As soon as the battle starts, activate your best shield against energy attacks (you should have found a couple of Verpine Prototype Shields by now), from your inventory list, so you don't have to waste a round. Use whatever buffing force powers you have, and whack away. -
Getting influence with GO-TO was a bit more difficult than the others, and GO-TO needs to be in your party, for most of them. In general, if you are a ruthless character, you'll get some influence, though not to the same extent you would get with HK. I got some influence by killing the Sullustan on Dantooine, after first threatening to turn him in. You can get more influence on Onderon, by selling the starport visa to Sakare in the Cantina, and then more by having GO-TO assist with repairing the droid that sells the parts in the Western Square. In the Merchant District, I tried to persuade the guy attempting to incite the crowd to calm down, and that failed. I told the captain that he'd better call for reinforcements, and I got some influence with GO-TO.

The Pazaak got a bit more interesting with the flip cards, as well as the golden card (I only had to beat one opponent to get that card from the Champ, and even then, maybe I should have done the dark side option and simply have him killed by the thugs). While I enjoyed the game itself, during my first two playthroughs (haven't finished the second one yet), I really didn't want to take the time away from adventuring to play Pazaak. I know I'm probably missing out on some good $$$, but money shouldn't be much of an issue. You're going to get a lot of armor that can be sold for some decent credits, along with various weaponry that commands a nice price, regardless of whether you go light or dark.

Finally got enough influence on GO-TO to get the full story about how he was originally the Republic droid that went astray (but not by his definition). Pretty amusing, considering that he's actually silent for a bit, pausing to come up with some sort of answer, when he normally comes up with snide remarks almost instantly. This almost reminds me of the first Star Trek movie, where VGER was really the original Voyager that had disappeared all of those years back.

You need a color crystal (red, yellow, green, blue, violet, silver, bronze, orange, viridian, etc), not the power crystals. You can buy color crystals (as well as some power crystals and other upgrades) from the lady in the salvager's camp, if you're missing one.

Interesting summary. I agree with a good bit, but where I disagree: 1) Mandalore: Make him a melee fighter, and increase his strength, just like most folks did in KOTOR 1. Also, increase strength further with GNS enhancer, STR implants, and Dominator gauntlets. With the best upgrades for melee weapons in combination with two weapon fighting, master flurry, and his wielding two highly upgraded melee weapons, he becomes a true tank. Three attacks / round with keen weapons is bound to have some profound effect! 2) Handmaiden: With her unarmed combat skills and as a Jedi Guardian, she's doing as much damage with her bare hands and feet as she would with a lightsaber (unless you have the best upgrades in there). Still, I prefer to give her a lightsaber, since she can use Force Jump. During the combat on Duxon against the hordes of Sith Assassins, she kept using Force Jump (in combination with Master Speed), and killing off one assassin after another, before I could even get to them. Not much in the way of skills, but since I build her to be a melee tank, it's not too important. 3) Mira: I agree with the fact that she's not terribly useful as-is (y'all remember the first fight with Hanharr...), but giving her the lightsaber finese feat (uses DEX in lieu of STR for lightsaber attack bonuses), some good lightsaber upgrades, and pumping implant and headgear bonuses into WIS and CHR, and she's actually very good. With her array of skills and feats, she's pretty good all-around, as a stealth artist, repair, and security expert.

I prefer the single saber, simply because of tradition, and because I don't have to invest feats into two weapon fighting. I realize that such advantages could be overcome with other upgrades, but really, once you get Master Speed, and use Master Flurry, you're going to chop someone down in no more than three rounds.

If you do Dantooine as your first planet after Telos, you can have your lightsaber close to the end. You need four parts: The color crystal, and three other parts that will be given to you as you need them (you won't get duplicates) 1) Your first part can be found at Telos, by siding with the Ithorians. You can also buy a lightsaber color crystal from one of the Duros merchants. 2) You can get a lightsaber part from Jorran, after you rescue him from the Enclave sublevel. Once he runs away, you can meet him at the salvager's camp near the Enclave. You will also get a couple of color crystals from him. One of the women in that camp also sells lightsaber upgrades (not usable for construction of the lightsaber, though), as well as power crystals and color crystals. 3) After you free Master Vrook from the Crystal Caves, and finish the final battle between the mercenaries and the militia (side with the militia if LS), then Vrook will give you the third, and final, component needed to create the lightsaber. Talk to Bao-Dur after you receive it, and he'll build it for you. It's usually a good idea to have your lightsaber built before you return to the Ebon Hawk, since Visas will attack you. This way, you'll get another whole, intact, lightsaber after defeating her, instead of another part. Otherwise, if you don't want to wait, then you can get the third part from her after you defeat her.

is this supposed to happen? - BIG SPOILER
Unabomber replied to zeroFantasy's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It's merely a test, just like what Luke Skywalker faced on Dagobah, in the tree. Yoda told him not to bring his weapon with him, but Luke did anyways, and faced "Darth Vader" (albeit a weakened simulation). In your case, you're going through a test, reliving parts of your past, and if you want to avoid DS points, you can simply say that you were wrong about jumping into the fray, and that the Council was right. Don't worry. Malak and Revan aren't nearly as powerful as they should be. -
Random loot generator. You don't know what you're going to get. For all you know, you could kill a measly Sith Trooper and get a set of dark jedi master robes, or you could kill a dark jedi master, and end up with 50 credits. Just keep searching the containers, corpses, etc., and you'll find some robes to your liking. There are some items, such as the Ossus Keeper Robes, that are in fixed locations, though.

Plenty of workbenches, and there's a full fledged one in your ship... Outside of your ship, even T3M4 can act as a workbench for upgrading (but not for creation). It really doesn't cost much in the way of components to build some of the nice upgrades, especially since you can break down the heavy armors for a goodly amount of components.

If you're male, during the time at Dantooine, you'll get a cut scene of Disciple talking with Carth Onasi, and saying "This is Mical" or something to that effect.

HK-47's droid processing unit!
Unabomber replied to KOTORFanactic's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
You might be able to buy a part from the Duros vendor on Nar Shaada (the one who wants the female Rodian merchant out of the way). That's how I got one of the HK parts I needed. Check with the other droid merchants as well. As for the parts dropped by the HK-50 units, I'm guessing that seems to be subject to the random loot generator's whim, to a certain degree. -
Even if you don't level her up, she'll be the tough boss in the end, with pre-determined stats, depending on your level.
-
If you did the side quests on Dantooine, you should have the appropriate lightsaber parts to have Bao-dur construct your new lightsaber.

Radeon owners: Post driver success here!
Unabomber replied to jasontiller's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Driver version: 4.12 Positive: Decent frame rates, with good details. Negatives: When starting up the game, it runs in a windowed mode, but if I switch the resolution and / or refresh rate from the Graphics menu, it goes back to full screen. Also, sometimes when playing movies, it attempts to play in a smashed windowed mode as well. -
What planet are you on? If you haven't built your lightsaber yet, there are opportunities to purchase or find parts (random) from various people. You'll automatically find the correct third component when you purchase / extort from the appropriate people. I did Dantooine as the first planet after Telos, and had constructed the lightsaber about 2/3 of the way through. As a suggestion, I would recommend that if you have already gotten the cut scene with Visas, that you not go back to the Ebon Hawk until you've constructed your saber. This way, her saber remains intact after the encounter.

You can gain influence with Mandalore, but most of these result in the DS, such as siding with the General instead of Queen Talia.

Force Storm & LightSide Question
Unabomber replied to Hammer's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Force Storm works fine for both LS and DS characters. Also, by the time you can cast Force Storm, you probably already have a good sized reservoir of force points (unless you made an unwise, uncharismatic Guardian / Weapons Master or Sith Maurader), so the drain shouldn't be too bad, even if you are full LS.
