is this game solid or I better wait?
Yosharian replied to juanval's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I'm not 'objectively' wrong, lmao. I literally described the process to you, point by point, but even that isn't enough? There's nothing DIFFICULT about it, it doesn't require skill to overcome, it's not particularly a hardship. It's just an annoyance. A stupid, unnecessary annoyance.

[POTD Difficulty] Launch NOT tuned discussion thread
Yosharian replied to Haran's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I don't mind a lower difficulty for my first playthrough. I was going to play Deadfire on Veteran, first. Now I'll just play on POTD, instead. I'll tryhard on my second playthrough. Entirely custom character, 100% optimized builds for everyone, etc. First playthrough, my character will definitely be optimized, but that's it. I'm still waiting for the first patch, though. Too many bugs, at the moment.

is this game solid or I better wait?
Yosharian replied to juanval's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Well, I think you would have to agree it is more of a deterrent than it is now. But I believe I also qualified it by saying that poe1 didn't have a perfect rest mechanic either. Hence also why I mentioned more rogue-like elements. --Harder to rest --Health doesn't regenerate after combat without abilities/food. --Easier perma-death of characters, etc. --Dialog options and other choice-based elements have deeper consequences My point is, there's nothing 'difficult' about it. Which is what you claimed.

Yosharian replied to juanval's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)How do attrition mechanics make The Endless Paths less pointless? Here's what happens when I run out of Health or critical Priest spells in Endless Paths. - Walk to exit - Click 'travel to surface' - Click rest button - Click Endless Paths entrance - Click 'travel to level x' - Walk to where I'd gotten to - Continue How would you describe this process, if not pointless?

Seeking Artist
Yosharian replied to Witness41920's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Not really, the portraits thread is just for portraits... Nothing wrong with making a thread, though.

Note: Blood pool from poe1 has effect in poe2
This is great! I hope there will be actual story consequences as well, though

Best weapon for Maia?
> Wizard version of the weapon ? Soulbounds are class based, and get different abilities and requirements. Oh right.

Has anyone found an eyepatch?
Yosharian replied to KaiG's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Just pluck out one of your eyes, problem solved

How important is might for healing?
I think Might is better if you are benefiting from damage and heals. If you just wanna cc and pop some heals, 10 Might is all good. And Might does f all for summons.

Arcane Dampener and party AI
Yosharian replied to mrscojangles's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I mean, the game being programmed correctly would do it Even more mandatory automation on top of the existing optional automation sounds like a sure way to frustration. I'm not sure what you mean but essentially the game counting a suppressed effect as the effect not existing is piss-poor programming

Why can't i decide the starting abilities (companions)?
Yosharian replied to Nemesis7884's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I'm not straw manning anyone, these are actual arguments I've had thrown at me, as well as things Josh has said publicly

Arcane Dampener and party AI
Yosharian replied to mrscojangles's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)That's a pretty bad flaw in the AI system. The game should automatically take into account being under such an effect, and not execute the command. There's no way you should have to set up an actual rule to account for being under AD. Realistically speaking, I think your best bet is just to turn AI off whenever you see an enemy casting this on you.

Mage Slayer Build?
Wait, so there's no negative duration anymore? That's great. Wait, resist friendly spells? Why does Obsidian hate this subclass so much? Mage Slayer is crap, don't bother unless you are absolutely obsessed with the class.

If you take fighter and chanter
Oh I see, you meant two separate characters. Yeah, it is super powerful.

Why can't i decide the starting abilities (companions)?
Yosharian replied to Nemesis7884's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)You'll take those starting abilities and ****ty attribute scores and like them! Popular defenses of this stupid practice: 1) Stop acting so entitled, just enjoy the game! 2) The companions are higher level than custom ones so it's ok! 3) Just use mods! 4) Just use console commands, achievements don't matter! 5) Developer choices matter more than your gaming experience! 6) You might choose attributes/abilities that don't fit the character! 7) I can complete the game on POTD without optimized attributes/abilities! And many more

is this game solid or I better wait?
Yosharian replied to juanval's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Publisher freedom was supposed to be a big thing for the Pillars series yet still Obsi push out games before they are ready. This game needed another month of bugfixing. Seems to be an industry problem at the moment.
