  1. That's a really poor defense and would hardly stand in court. "Why, Your Honor, how could I possibly had known that file-sharing software was in fact designed to share files?" Anyone trying to pass that off as an excuse should be fined for a deliberate insult to intelligence. That's incorrect. Most people see downloads on the internet as a one-way thing, which they largely are. I can tell you as somebody who sets up internet and ethernet connections for people as a part-time job that almost every single one of them is clueless that file sharing programmes go both ways. They think it's file sharing in the classic sense: everyone downloads files from a central repository kind enough to 'share' them. Some of the more savvy college kids are actually aware it goes both ways. I'm sorry that you think that's 'unintelligent' behaviour, but the fact is it's far more likely to be simple technical ingorance. That's quite true. A couple of people from my work wanted me to set up a torrent client on their laptops so they can download 'stuff'. I said to them, It's not just you downloading from someone, people will be downloading from you too. You should have seen the shock on their faces. Why? How can people download from me? Do they get inside my computer? etc...
  2. I don't think that's going to stop people. I'm guessing a lot of people will have a cavalier attitude and think, "sue me, I don't have any money anyway".
  3. I'd like to know how the fly got past the Secret Service.
  4. After all these years, I'm still a Nub.
  5. I understood that as well and they changed it because of the fan backlash.
  6. I've always liked the Lamborghini Countach. Maybe in black would be good.
  7. A quick google search states Legend of the Seeker is a fantasy series based on Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth novels. Never heard of Terry Goodkind or the novels. I heard from word of mouth that it was a pretty good fantasy series sort of like Hercules or Xena but without the camp. Terry Goodkind has been heavily involved with the TV show which is why it's serious and not campy. It's about a guy who becomes a warrior accompanied by two people with one being a wizard. I was a bit sceptical going into it but it's actually pretty good. Special effects are top notch, especially with the magic. It's the way it should be done. There are 22 episodes in the series and well worth the download. Here's the offical website. http://www.legendoftheseeker.com/
  8. Tim Kang, the guy who plays Cho, is hilarious on the show. It's like his character should be on Dragnet instead. Cho is brilliant. The way Jane dresses him up as a pick up artist and he struts through the bar was hilarious. And the way he walks over and talks to the two girls (and Rigsby taking notes) was gold. Also how Cho interrogates people behind the desk, you wonder how the actors playing the criminals don't burst out laughing. After watching the Mentalist, I started and finished watching Legend of the Seeker. Great Show. Not sure what they're going to do with Season 2 as the end of Season 1 pretty much wraps up the story.
  9. Looks okay. I was hoping for a sequel 20 years after the original V but this will have to do.
  10. Does anyone know where I could get all the old BISIMG pictures? Be grateful if someone could supply a link or a zip file with all of them.
  11. Started watching the TV show, The Mentalist. Have all the episodes and halfway through Season 1 at the moment. It's a bit like a modern day Sherlock Holmes seeking out his enemy Red John (Moriarty/Jack the Ripper type) and solving cases along the way.
  12. Good thing that original ending was removed, else the world would not have received the brilliant last two Terminator movies... oh wait... But seriously, I liked the original ending more as well. On thread topic: the last movie I saw was Zack and Miri make a Porno, which was hilarious for about 2/3 of its length, but sadly turned into a typical romantic comedy towards the end. So you could say it was kind of a mixed bag. I saw Terminator Salvation last night and have to say the ending was a bit iffy. I would have preferred the ending be
  13. ^^ ahh, okay. Actually, the book was based on the script of the movie and came out before the movie was released. I read the book a couple of weeks before the movie was released and saw the movie on opening night. James Cameron cut scenes from the movie and changed the ending which is why the movie and book are different. You can see the scenes put back in and the original ending on the Special edition dvd. Also, Kyle Reese makes an appearance in one of the cut scenes in T2.
  14. you're talking about Wolverine? As I said before, I'm not a Marvel fan, so I'm not familar with the Wolverine back story/history. I guess that's a good thing for me.
  15. You must not be a comic fan. Lucky you. I mean that. Reading the source material of adaptions before seeing the movie always ruins the movie. The first two Harry Potter movies I consider the best ones because I hadn't read the books, after that I read all the books, and not a single movie after has lived up to them. (Chamber of Secrets and Philosophers Stone were actually very faithful though.) Actually, I am a comic book fan and have been collecting comics since the late 70's. I'm more of a DC fan (Batman - my earliest Detective Comic is #45 ), not really a Marvel fan except for Punisher. I understand what you mean though. I read Terminator 2 before seeing the movie and felt the movie didn't live up to the book. There was a bit cut out of the movie which they put in on the Special Edition dvd and they changed the original ending of the movie, which can also be seen in the special features on the dvd. I preferred the original ending to T2, but then there would be no sequels.
  16. Wouldn't it be easier and safer to rent it through a real estate agent? The agents can do the credit and background checks. I rent my 3br townhouse through an agent and he takes care of everything. eg. If tenant falls behind in rent, they will take the tenant to the tribunal to have the back rent paid and can evict the tenant.
  17. I saw Wolverine and thought it was a good movie.
  18. Wow. You just described my childhood from 9 years old when I started playing the Atari 2600 thought the 80's playing my C64 and Atari 130XE computers right to when I was 18 when I left school. I didn't go to College or Uni because I failed at school and had to work in a bookshop but still kept on playing computer games with an Amiga and PC Games and also video games with my SNES. Throughout all those years, I read comic books and still do to this day. Bottom line for me is, I was a Slacker and had no motivation. Sure, I dreamed of things like, earning $50K a year when I left school, owning my own car before I was 21 and having my own home so I didn't have to pay rent. I'm still a slacker but managed to make some good decisions in the 90's with my career (got out of the bookstore/retail sector) and also buying property helped. You don't know what's going to happen in life 10 or 20 years from now. I wouldn't be too concerned about it. I was never concerned about my future and still not concerned because I always believed and still do that 'everything will work out' and it has.
  19. Exactly. Aborigines have lit fires. The Greens don't want any fires. I'm saying, lets go back to the way Aboriginies did it. Exactly my point. My agenda is that lighting fires for back burning is a good thing and also helps australian flora to reproduce. Exactly what you have said. So what is wrong with my 'silly point'? It's the Greens who don't want any fires at all and make it hard to even do the most simple controlled back burning exercise. Also, what kind of zealot are you referring to? What is the opposite agenda to the Greens? Stop shooting your mouth off and explain yourself.
  20. Indeed. I caught up with an old school friend recently and he complained that there weren't many Aussies in the suburb he just moved into, it was mostly Asians. In my experience this is a pretty typical view here amongst white people, that if you aren't white you don't get called an Aussie. How are immigrants supposed to integrate when society constantly insists that they belong to some other group? It's not necessarily white people not calling immigrants aussies, it can also be immigrants who set up communities and distance themselves from being called aussies. eg. Lebanese Community Council of NSW. Why would they call themselves Lebanese? Why not call themselves Australian? They're racial profiling themselves as much as white australians are. The same can be said for any ethnic background who racially profiles themselves from the rest of the community.
  21. I find Anubis to be overated and too cliche. It's good they went with someone else.
  22. I would say that in Australia at least, man is a part of nature and man-made fires is the natural order of things, since the aboriginies have been doing it for 40,000 years. For man to suddenly stop man-made fires in Australia's bushland, is not the natural thing to do.
  23. ^ We had a lot of environmental commentators blaming climate change for the bushfires - even though some of the bushfires were lit by arsonists. Also, Victoria's bushfires have spewed millions of tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere - more than a third of Australia's entire output for a year, according to Sydney University's Professor Mark Adams. The environmental toll ends up worse than the most vigorous prescribed burning regime ever could be http://fw.farmonline.com.au/news/nationalr...spx?storypage=3
  24. Yes, Australia is in a very bad drought, but it's not true about delaying back-burns for 30-40 years. That could be true but on the other hand, there are areas where residents, local council and the fire brigade are not being allowed to meet their targets of hectares being burned. Preliminary findings into the Victorian Parliamentary Enquiry into the 2003 and 2006/07 Gippsland Bushfires, they acknowledged that failures to burn were a contributor to the fires. A recommendation of 385,000 Ha burning per annum was recommended, but has not been adopted. Fuel reduction burns across the entire state have been, in total over the last 15 years, up to 50% below hectare targets. And I think a lot of that has to do with fuel reduction not being met and people not evacuating their homes early. The warning system was held up by the Government. Also, there is a policy by the Fire Brigade of staying to defend your home is the best course of action. There's never been an 'overdone' back burning exercise in Australia. The Greenies have a lot of political power and the Labor Party who are the current State Governments do everything to get the Green vote and their preferences every election.
