If you want to carry 6 guns for some opening volley I dont see how a lack of the right talent for that one shot stops you. I use a hunting bow on sagani though so that kind of shows you how much i feel the need to min max right now.

What rarity? Eder literally hands you a good estoc at lvl 2. And you can get and exceptional Estoc and a ridiculously awesome blizzard casting estoc after doing one easy quest immediately in act 2. Whoa. I didn't even find those two. I have one which has extra DR punch and Fire resist and also the one which is superb and with bonus attack speed and marking. Where is this blizzard one ? ooh how do you do the spoiler tag >.> I am such a forum noob. Thanks for the info I just now headed over there. If you explain how to add spoiler tags I can tell you where I got my two super awesome Estocs.

The No Bad Choices Thread
Hatred replied to PrimeJunta's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
To anyone who says you can do 'acrobatics' in full plate ... I say no not really. You can make a modern reconstruction of something which looks somewhat like full plate and then do somewhat limited acrobatics sure. Full plate isn't something you can be an acrobat in. I agree it isn't so heavy that you cannot move or fight (if that was the case no one would have used it eh) but it is heavy enough that no one would spend a whole day in it unless they were getting ready for an imminent battle. Certainly no one has any records of anyone traveling around the countryside with full plate on of their own free will. No historical precedent at all. I actually wish they would do away with Plate in these kinds of games because of just how silly it is and how boring it is too. -

Hmm back to the topic of Estoc's. The two best weapons I have found to date are both Estoc. So that does kind of further push them into the 'you should definitely choose these' category.

The No Bad Choices Thread
Hatred replied to PrimeJunta's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I am making use of the light armours. My casters are in fine robes since 5 DR in exchange for 15% recovery penalty doesn't feel that bad. If I had my choice though I would reduce everything in the game by 10%. So robes would give a 5% penalty, Brigandine a 40%. Plate I would leave at 50%. I feel if they did this it would be reasonable incentive to wear the lighter armour. There are enough blink striking and aoe attacks in the game that I feel a small penalty to recovery in exhange for some protection would be nice. -
You're gonna have to be more specific on how they're contradicting me. Well, they read that everything you write in your post is complete bollocks. With the exeption of your claim that someone on youtube did a cartwheel in some armor, but that point was really neither here nor there. But no you're wrong, I didn't even have to be more specific. You made a boast of superior knowledge, and I asked for evidence. You don't deliver you're just a phony who conveys his own fantasies to seem important, getting hooked up on something entirely beside the point in the first place. Now you just look self-important. The first thing I read in the wiki you linked was how an arquebus didn't penetrate a breastplate. So yeah. Sorry. You do need to be more specific. In a general sense you are quite wrong about how arms and armour work though.

So I just wanted to complain about the fact that you need Vithrack brains to make exceptional weapons. It just seems straight up wrong. The Vithrack are sapient and not really so different from humans and orlans and dwarves from what I can tell from the lore. I have met some and I have read about them from an in game book. I have also killed some who attacked me. It just seems straight up evil to harvest them to make weaponry though.

haha + like So damn true! You have been told who to contact to get the mod. You have been told how to console it. Do you want someone to tie your shoe laces as well ? Or do you need someone to put your shoe on and tie the laces? Or do you just need to be carried on a palanquin? Please realise you are being a bit unreasonable at this point. I'd honestly rather have a mod that turns them encounter based at level 2, and gradually more after that. Also using console that often is annoying. I'm not bothering sensuki he has a life, i just want a link. No you are bothering a forum full of people instead. You are being lazy. Sensuki wouldn't have made mods or videos about PoE or however many bajillion forum posts if all he wanted was to be left alone. If you watch his youtube channel you would know it goes even further than that.

Can we make a new bug list?
Hatred replied to Hatred's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Secrets of Rime isn't applying damage for my druid. I am using a spell which does 30-50 damage which is 38-64 after might applies. With might and Rime it should be a 47% damage increase in total. So the minimum damage would be 43-44 and the max would be 73-74 (sorry I am just using my head to do this math). I am not seeing these numbers though. So far yet to get a hit that high or a crit of over 100 which should be possible. I don't scan all of the numbers in my logs but of all the ones I have scanned I dont see anything suggesting it is working. I guess I will look harder for a bit longer now. Edit : yeah I just did a heap more casts and finally found a hit with a damage of over 64 so you are right. -
Can we make a new bug list?
Hatred posted a question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I have found a few bugs in the game which aren't "gamebreaking" like all of the other bugs everyone is on about. I am hoping that we can get a list going of bugs which are a bit smaller and less urgent and maybe a list of balance changes people feel we need (please no comments about wanting infinite rest or per encounter spells for wizards it feels like all I see in these forums and there are already multiple solutions in place). So far what I have found : 1. Secrets of Rime. The damage portion doesn't work. It neither applies to the damage or shows up anyplace as doing so. 2. The Chant which adds fire damage to your weapon. It reads that it adds 25 fire damage or something but it actually adds a percentage like the burning lash ability. I am guessing it is a typo. 3.Marked Prey. Reads as 20 flat damage to your attacks. I 'think' it is adding a percentage. 4. Kana. For no reason I can decipher he gets double deflection from shields. So sadly he gets to stay in my keep at all times I really like him too. -
I think setting up tactics was super easy. Heck you can finish DA:O on nightmare by just selecting all and telling them to all run at the enemy and then going to make a coffee its so disgustingly easy. Even my friend playing DA who never touched BG or IWD managed to do it. Lets not pretend that something in DA was hard besides staying awake/getting to the end because had paid for it and waited so long only to be let down so hard .... thank Eothas for Pillars.

The problem with this is that most enemies are going to have at least 5 DR, thereby benefiting fully from the Estoc's ability. You get no more benefit from using the Estoc against someone in Plate than you do from using it against someone in Leather. Which is silly. I'd prefer it if it was more along the lines of "penetrates 50% of DR or 5 DR, whichever is less". That way it's actually an anti-armor weapon and not an anti-everything-that-isn't-naked weapon. I actually like this suggestion. Making the Estoc lose a little bit of accuracy like the firearms which have an accuracy penalty to offset the DR pen would maybe be something hey could throw into the mix also. That said I have spent some time using Just Ice and it isnt that bad. Sure estocs are best but I feel like people are getting just a wee bit too worked up about it.

I have the answer for this one. Firstly the Mark appears on the creature, not as a buff on you. So you can see the creatures info if you hover over it with the mouse and this will inform you if the mark applied. Also it doesn't add a flat +20 damage (which would be nuts) it adds 20% damage. This can be difficult to detect.

Oh a little note for all of the people complaining that there is one stat to increase your damage with a gun and a sword and a magic spell. You are complaining incorrectly. There is if you want to be realistic about it, one attribute which increases all of these things. It is called Skill. Sword fighters don't benefit that much from being stupidly strong. The worlds best fencers aren't bodybuilders. Bodybuilders arent actually good at anything. Strength beyond being fit and able to use the sword isnt that important in a sword fight. Speed and Skill are what make you good in a swordfight. You can go check this out for yourself if you are interested (go to a HEMA club and try and beat someone who has been training for years who you are physically stronger than in a sword fight... good luck). So please stop making stupid mewling noises about how might dictates damage in this game. Its an abstraction in a fantasy game which is MORE realistic than Int dictating magical damage and Str dictating Melee damage. BG had a stupid system for working out melee damage. Did i care ? no. I just learnt how the system worked and then played accordingly. All you simulationists who have next to no idea how the things being simulated work are .... heck I am going to stop before i get into trouble.

Or do you need someone to put your shoe on and tie the laces? Or do you just need to be carried on a palanquin? Please realise you are being a bit unreasonable at this point. Edit : tbh even though I personally enjoy the resting mechanic and limit to spells (I am playing a druid) I can see why you would like to spam your spells on easy battles (since they are already easy what difference does it make) I think I would prefer it if they just balanced all of the classes to have almost entirely per encounter abilities with very few per rest abilities in order to maximise fun and to make the game easier for new people to get into.

Yeah a hunting bow without piercing shot is a little on the sub optimal side of things. In a lot of situations I have actually used one anyway though. I like hunting bows because I am not spending a lot of time shooting and reloading. So when I want to fire off a spell I just do it. I do mostly use a warbow though as a compromise between not having to wait to cast and actually hurting people.

You can take a talent to give your shape an elemental attack and peasant weapon focus works as the attack is considered unarmed, dual weapons might work but not sure about that one. Actually scaling the shapes is currently imposible because of the way abilities are implemented they would have to create a completely new ability for each stage, so extra 72 abilities in total. They could scale it well enough, +1 Accuracy and + x.04 damage / level or something, which would be +12 and x1.48 damage The best quality enchant gives +12 Accuracy x1.45 damage IIRC. No this is a technical issue, dev explained it on another forum. They can't just make an ability improve as it levels, they would need to create a separate enty for druid bear shape, level 1, druid bear shape, level 2 and so on... for all shapes and levels. They want a system that would let them scale shapes easier but that takes resources so it's something they'll tackle later. Since you go from regular weapons to fine to exceptional to I forget (im level 9 so I only have rank 2) wouldnt it be reasonable for them to just make 2 or at max 3 types of druid entites that kick in at say level 4/8/12 or 5/10 or some such. Personally I am finding that my stag form still rocks the damage. Sure its situational, but the damage output of 21-30 with stupid fast attack speed is pretty good as long as you lower the enemy deflection and raise your accuracy before wading in. Edit : so people have tested the peasant weapon focus ? If that and duel wield worked it would be pretty nice .....

I am actually finding at level 9 my druids shapeshift ability is still pretty fubar good. It is good for two things in particular. Firstly I can cast quickly while not wearing any armour but still having DR. Secondly if you are careful about positioning (like I imagine you might want to be with a melee rogue) then the auto attack damage from druids with wildstrike corrode is just straight up nuts. I tend to make sure that the enemy are debuffed and flanked though. I dont just run my druid in pretending that I am Eder the Mighty Werestag. That would (and has) end in me having a bad time. Overall druids feel stupidly good to me.

Stand Ground option
Hatred replied to طلو's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Retreating enemies? Your characters chasing them ? I have yet to have either of these things happen and my characters are level 9. Sometimes the enemies disengage and then go for my wizard. My characters only chase them if I tell them to though. I have had an issue once or twice where my characters didn't stop upon being engaged. Tbh though if you are having a hard time with disengage you may want to remove it (via the IE mod which you can find on the nexus). -
Paladins never do the best dps in any game I have played. You can make an off-tank DPS who has some ok support abilities. I would agree overall that paladins arent that boss. I think chanters fill the role better. I am hoping paladins receive a little more love in the future. I would personally be more inclined to pick a fighter since they get weapon specialization and other fighter only talents which would be more useful in an auto attack melee build in my (untested) opinion.

Best DPS ? Druid. Why on earth aren't you mention the class which has the best ability to dish out pain. I am playing a druid and I feel like they trivialise a fair amount of the content because they hit so freaking hard. In the time it takes you to swing a melee weapon a druid can kill as many mobs as you can make stand near each other.
