Hard mode is too easy.
Hatred replied to Mazisky's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Um just no. Finding hard easy has nothing to do with hired adventurers. It has everything to do with over leveling from what I can see.Min-maxed hired adventurers don't affect the difficulty? I beg to differ. I'm not sure if it's possible to really overlevel in a game with a low level cap and so scarce kill XP. The most you can do is skip the hardest battles and return later, but that's just normal behavior. You still need to do quests to level up at all, so if they're too easy, they're just too easy. However, I suspect some people steamrolling the game were hit with the stat bug. I saw someone with huge, clearly unnatural AoEs who didn't notice anything was wrong. I am not steamrolling the game because of some stat bug. There is too much XP. I was level 10 when I reached Dyrford Village. I believe in the backer beta they were doing it at level 5 or 6. Edit : if someone could confirm what the backer beta starting level was I would appreciate it. Also @ Rosveen : Please trust obsessive people to notice things about which they are obsessed. I actually did have one toon go out of control with stats. Kana. Kana now lives in the Inn at my keep. Its a good thing though because I don't really go there much. -
Needing to skip content even on PotD is pretty meh imo. I like to find unique weapons for my characters and that is often done though quests/exploration. I guess I need a walkthrough for PotD so I can work out which quests I can ignore and only miss out on xp >.> I really feel like Obsidian have dropped the ball in terms of progression and making it feel like its worth a damn.

That would be me. I put over 700 hours into Obvivion. Only on my last playthru did I ever finish the main quest beyond the first couple. On that playthru I still had about 120 hours into the game before I went back and did the main quest which was then very easy. Same with Skyrim, hundreds of hours into it and never got more then 10 quests in to the main quest. For PoE where the enemy and quest "levels" are static ( I believe) I'm sure that it'll be the same, once I get to the main quest it'll be a cakewalk. But I'm ok with that if I'm challenged on all the side quests as I explore every square inch of every map. In my experience thus far I would wager that you will not be challenged.

How could I do that ! Your comment while being nonsensical is more sensible than most of the chat on the forums. You can follow what people say but not the reasoning which allows them to say it. -

When you hit level 20, man, you know *all* the equations. They say that, at 21...Accuracy becomes it's own stat. I know the level cap is 12 so I am not sure what you be saying. -

I have hit level 10 in game. I am starting to think there are no longer any wrong answers. -
Yeah. You will also ignore every reasonable response to every stupid thing you say. Great work on that one kid. Edit : Also solo stealth would break my immersion. Clearly people in the middle of a mortal struggle would notice someone 'sneaking' behind them. Edit 2: actually stealth breaks my immersion. You just cant sneak around in plain sight. It isn't possible. Especially if you are a group of six people in heavy armour with large weapons. And those weapons glow. Not small weapons that glow a little, either. My Barbarian is carrying around a greatsword as big as she is that glows like a small sun...and sneaking. Just to be clear I was taking this piss out of Gairnulf who is acting like he is king of the world of immersion. I don't care in the slightest about balance breaking immersion. At level 10 I feel like the balance of the game is broken for sure. Crying about immersion in this environment displays a kind of arrogance which is beyond belief. He cannot seem to grasp just how PERSONAL his ideas are. Which I am trying to help him with by pointing out a lot of ways in which immersion is a joke in this game. Sorry if you already knew this. I genuinely am unsure and just trying to be clear.

Yeah in general I guess I am seeing how I never really paid enough attention. I realised fairly early on that I would not need consumables and I am a bit of a vacuum cleaner when it comes to loot and I pay it about as much attention as a vacuum cleaner does dust. When I was speaking with a Vithrack who didn't want to fight me and then I remembered the book I guess I just got a bit sympathetic towards them. Well here is hoping that in future PoE games that there aren't quite so many items made from sentient beings. -

How's that different from, say, bounty-hunting? Bounty hunting is going after a known threat to everyone and fixing that threat in a rather extreme fashion. Sure in todays terms it is still on the moral gray side of things but it isnt anywhere near as bad as hunting down people to turn them into weapons. -

I feel like the maybe could have gone for a compromise between fallout style and classes. I definitely feel like the weapons and armour would be a lot better off fallout style. Having stats effect the damage you do with a weapon is a slippery slope.
