Obsidian has stated that they're looking into the possibilities surrounding modding, but that's it for now. Unity as an engine does have the capability to support modding kits though, so the basic premise is that it should be possible, but a lot depends on whether or not Obsidian needs to develop the modding tools from the ground up, which takes resources.

Every single game You mentioned was much less complex than any given IE game. KotOR? Ok, it's quite complex, but not even close to BG/BG2/PT. And what is the difference between them? Yep, the games You mentioned was released on consoles, why IE games wasn't. Now I think You should understand our reaction for the idea of consol veriosn of PE. Yes, and it is exactly what fans of old, IE games don't want: making a game that is great for young players. They want old-school, mature, not-dumbed-down game for real gamers, not some young, kill-em-all casuals, for whom the dialogue options should indicate if it's good or bad option to understand anything. You want a casual game that is great for young, console players? There is plenty of them in mainstream market (Mass Effect, Skyrim, Dragon Age 2, to name just the most popular) Now, you're making us look old and grumpy for no reaso... hey, get off my lawn over there!

The flaming fist is the Law and Order along the sword coast mainly known from the Baldurs Gate series of games. "We serve the flaming fist" is their motto. I have killed many, MANY flaming fist members in my time. The other famous quote from many a Flaming Fist: "I AM the law!" Always entertaining people, although never really that good sports when I decided to investigate a locked chest or two in Beregost or Nashkel.

Yeah, Conan was basically the archetype of a barbarian for fantasy settings. He definitely got angry sometimes and wasted people in rage, but that wasn't his usual routine. I think there should be a distinction between barbarians and berserkers, they just operate on different principles. Take dwarven berserkers (battleragers) from D&D for example, they just use everything they've got and go into a frenzy/berserker rage, taking down any enemy they can without any concern for themselves. Barbarians do use their fury to give them more strength in battle, but they fight with much more discipline than berserkers. Berserks may use heavy armor as well, rigging it with jagged spikes to do more damage to their enemies, unlike barbarians who prefer mobility to heavy armor. That's how I view them anyway, and I think those differences should be noted and not bunched up under either definition. Edit: Typo -
It's good to see that Feargus is aware of the issues with local publishers, gamers shouldn't be locked into a localized version only when using Steam. I can only image not being able get anything but the base game working for something like FO:NV with its many DLC packs. P.S. Since PE will be distributed DRM-free as well, how would that affect the Russian and Polish localizations? Will the publishers add the localizations to those versions as well, or just the Steam version? It doesn't affect me, Finland doesn't do localizations, but it'd be a bummer for gamers who wanted to get PE DRM-free and localized.

I've played both extensively, and yeah, I agree with this. It doesn't matter that much when the game is good, but with a static camera you'll never wonder if you missed something because you were zoomed out too far or close. That said, I do like Origins too, it's a good game in my opinion. DA II was a disappointment for me though.

Critical Hits: They should only cause extra damage, unless otherwise stated in a weapon's description. I'm not against certain weapons adding a special effect on critical hits, e.g. bleed. Different weapons should also have different critical hit damage multipliers, e.g. a halberd should have a higher multiplier than a dagger. Critical Misses: They should reduce defensive capabilities like armor class (however that is handled) and dodge/reflex saves. I'd also consider a short duration movement speed penalty. Why? On a critical miss you overcommit yourself to an attack, leaving yourself more vulnerable than usual because you miss your target. It also takes more time to recover your footing, leading to the movement speed penalty.

Bows: Limited ammo?

So how much thinking does it take to buy lots of arrows when in town? "I need more arrows.... Aaaagh! My brain! It hurrrtsss!!" I'd like to limit the arrows to 40 per quiver. So if you want to buy more of them, you'd have to sacrifice some inventory space. -
If you got decent to good performance out of both DA: Origins and DA II, I'd say you're good to go as it is. You may want to wait for the official system requirements, but considering the budget of Project Eternity (granted, it's still partly up in the air) it's fair to say that it won't require as much processing power from either the CPU or the GPU when compared to the Dragon Age games. This is an old school title after all.
