Interesting update again - it's good to get to know something about each developer working on Project Eternity. @Dimitri - If you get around reading these comments, what are your tools of trade in hardware & software? I'm also making a note of those vodka brands for further... study.

Update #34: FIRST ART UPDATE
Archmage Silver replied to Adam Brennecke's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
I don't know if you have had time to think about this yet, but what about beards on character models? Male human wizards had beards in the IE games, but apart from the male dwarves and male gnome wizards, no other class had them. What was that about and how do you figure it should work in Project Eternity? Personally I'd probably include a toggle for beards, or just go the same route as previously taken if that's not feasible.- 286 replies

I'm currently backing Limit Theory: An Infinite, Procedural Space Game.

It's always possible to mod something into say, BG II, but you'd actually have to understand what you're doing - it's not something that would be suitable for a large group project. Not unless we took ideas and concepts from everyone, but that would quickly become very convoluted. If I had to pick, I'd go for a multiplayer group, but I don't have any idea which game would widely accessible and flexible enough. Hopefully LC and Farudan appear again some time during the holiday season.

Party Size
Archmage Silver replied to Nidhoggr's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
That was something Obsidian was thinking about at one point - whether it'll make it into the game is anyone's guess. Those NPCs would be treated as temps only though, in the same sense that you sometimes had people tag along in the BG series. -
I'm all in for just one regular movement speed, specifically like the one in BG II, not the original BG, because that was really slow. Then add different values for Hasted & Encumbered movement speeds and you're done.

There's a new site? this one looks dead http://www.obsidiano...ofeternity.net/ There is not a new... new site. That's the one I found based on a pm I recieved awhile ago, but clearly it's not operational. I haven't recieved my registration email yet anyways. Oh well. I was never super concerned with all that stuff anyways, I just wanted to give Obsidian a little extra money and get a fancy title. Well, it does work... just register and you should be good to go.

Update #34: FIRST ART UPDATE
Archmage Silver replied to Adam Brennecke's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
You'd be surprised how many times people DO freak out over WIPs. Even when you tell them it's a WIP they do it. That's why you have to keep repeating it and hope it somehow gets through.- 286 replies

Endings for Eternity
Archmage Silver replied to Ulquiorra's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
What's this about endings? Eternity doesn't end, hence the ouroboros symbol as the initial logo! Also the number eight... 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8- 38 replies

Jeremy Soule?
Archmage Silver replied to LordsWeapon's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Soule is good, he's one of my favorite composers, but I think his work tends to be a bit repetitive these days - it sort of falls into the same pattern over and over again. I think he should actually reduce his workload and focus on originality over quantity. -

Full Looting
Archmage Silver replied to Felithvian's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I'm against this simply because it's unnecessary and creates problems. You can't give everything a decent value because you'd create a situation where the player has access to too much gold, or if valued differently, a situation where the player has to loot and sell everything just to make enough gold for upgrades. And since the latter scenario is pretty much a waste of time, the former scenario would be the one being considered - however, it's not worth going through with either, because why create all that unnecessary loot with little to no value? It doesn't any inherent value to the gameplay unless you're a miser. Partial looting is the best way to go, and the only one that actually makes any kind of sense IMO.- 25 replies

Dialog mostly voiced?
Archmage Silver replied to LordsWeapon's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
It'll be partially voiced à la Icewind Dale and the other IE games, but the rest of the dialog will be text-only. This has been confirmed already. The partial VO will allow the Project Eternity writers to use more artistic freedom and have more flexibility in regards to changes to the dialog during development, because they're not as restrained by the existing VOs and VO budget as they would otherwise be.
