  1. I wouldn't want to duplicate the personality or character traits of Minsc or any other major IE game character - it just wouldn't work. Especially not with Minsc, he's too unique.
  2. It's always possible to mod something into say, BG II, but you'd actually have to understand what you're doing - it's not something that would be suitable for a large group project. Not unless we took ideas and concepts from everyone, but that would quickly become very convoluted. If I had to pick, I'd go for a multiplayer group, but I don't have any idea which game would widely accessible and flexible enough. Hopefully LC and Farudan appear again some time during the holiday season.
  3. That was something Obsidian was thinking about at one point - whether it'll make it into the game is anyone's guess. Those NPCs would be treated as temps only though, in the same sense that you sometimes had people tag along in the BG series.
  4. I'm all in for just one regular movement speed, specifically like the one in BG II, not the original BG, because that was really slow. Then add different values for Hasted & Encumbered movement speeds and you're done.
  5. There's a new site? this one looks dead http://www.obsidiano...ofeternity.net/ There is not a new... new site. That's the one I found based on a pm I recieved awhile ago, but clearly it's not operational. I haven't recieved my registration email yet anyways. Oh well. I was never super concerned with all that stuff anyways, I just wanted to give Obsidian a little extra money and get a fancy title. Well, it does work... just register and you should be good to go.
  6. Now MCA will do this just to troll you. Josh is the only one serious enough to save us now...
  7. You'd be surprised how many times people DO freak out over WIPs. Even when you tell them it's a WIP they do it. That's why you have to keep repeating it and hope it somehow gets through.
  8. I'll give this an LOL. It's funny. And you can't tell if I'm really laughing. Also, I thought MCA never allowed anyone else to post troll-ish things of informative funneh?
  9. What's this about endings? Eternity doesn't end, hence the ouroboros symbol as the initial logo! Also the number eight... 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8
  10. Soule is good, he's one of my favorite composers, but I think his work tends to be a bit repetitive these days - it sort of falls into the same pattern over and over again. I think he should actually reduce his workload and focus on originality over quantity.
  11. Ok, guys - I've forwarded your forum title requests to Fionavar myself in Farudan's absence. You should get your titles in a short order now. Aaand you're set & ready to go.
  12. I'm against this simply because it's unnecessary and creates problems. You can't give everything a decent value because you'd create a situation where the player has access to too much gold, or if valued differently, a situation where the player has to loot and sell everything just to make enough gold for upgrades. And since the latter scenario is pretty much a waste of time, the former scenario would be the one being considered - however, it's not worth going through with either, because why create all that unnecessary loot with little to no value? It doesn't any inherent value to the gameplay unless you're a miser. Partial looting is the best way to go, and the only one that actually makes any kind of sense IMO.
  13. This isn't some indie game, and that kind of support would just consume development resources unnecessarily.
  14. Ok, guys - I've forwarded your forum title requests to Fionavar myself in Farudan's absence. You should get your titles in a short order now.
  15. It'll be partially voiced à la Icewind Dale and the other IE games, but the rest of the dialog will be text-only. This has been confirmed already. The partial VO will allow the Project Eternity writers to use more artistic freedom and have more flexibility in regards to changes to the dialog during development, because they're not as restrained by the existing VOs and VO budget as they would otherwise be.
  16. This isn't Morrowind, Oblivion, or Skyrim. This isn't Legend of Grimrock. We're talking about an RPG using an isometric camera view - do you really think that the best option to go with in dungeons is to show a barely visible screen to the player? And what about combat, do you develop a mechanism for dropping the torch or do you fight without your shield? Does the torch set you on fire on critical misses? Do low level wizards need to use power for maintaining light spells instead of using more direct damage spells? ... Considering the fact that you only use torches or light spells a fraction of the playing time, it would seem that the workload needed for including torches isn't really worth the end result at all.
  17. I don't like DRM as a matter of principle, so I'll get my copy from GOG. I see no point in using DRM, it can all be cracked by people inclined to do so. WoW had/has pirate private servers, so that scheme didn't work out either. You might just as well skip utilizing DRM. In fact, many crackers and pirates will buy a license for a game they want, even moreso given the lack of DRM. Personally I don't participate in piracy nor do I condone piracy of any kind (Jack Sparrow and Hector Barbossa are exempt from this ), but I know people who just don't care - they don't have the money, yet they still want their fix of games and whatnot. I keep telling them it's not the same thing, but they just shrug it off. They'll only buy the games if they're really fans of the series or they just can't get the game otherwise, the latter of which rarely happens. DRM doesn't stop crackers, it only slows them down for a time (OK, StarForce worked to an extent, but no developer in their right mind uses SF as DRM anymore).
  18. Frankly, mini games are a terrible waste of development resources most of the time. IIRC, Chris Avellone commented on them as one feature they should have cut when developing KotOR 2: TSL. They're just fluff.
  19. I'll consider buying it only after there's a reskin mod for the ghastly blue GUI. Why so blue?
  20. Good update, Adam! The pathing/collision test map is interesting, can we get more of these in the future updates? Along with possible screenshots of WIP areas of course. I don't have anything really specific to add to the pantheon design phase, but I'd personally prefer to keep the whole thing smaller in scope than those of Forgotten Realms or Greyhawk. I think they just extended on it a bit too much. Also... can we skip Bhaal?
  21. I don't think it's a good idea to use (A)D&D-based PC games as an example - the alignment system didn't translate over well from the tabletop game IMO.
  22. I think we'll get some more posts when the weekly content updates start rolling in.
