I have no faith, least of all in the game press. Lets wait another 6 month and then see what the current work in progress might turn out looking like B) Wonder what they have been doing the previous 9 months on the project ?

I would guess it's not really Obsidians decision in this particular case (unfortunately, would have loved some Mark Morgan music in Kotor)

At least, the "Lair" people had the decency to put their spam in the WoT section

I think you can kill him in the DS Female game... if you have a romance going with him. Well if that is true then take Carth out and substitute in Dustil, Carth's son. I took great pleasure in killing Dustil... Next ?

What do you think the twist(s) will be in KOTOR II
Gorth replied to Tyrell's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I was thinking computer games (including crpg's), the movie part was just an analogy. Problem is the limited scope of a game that is supposed to have mass appeal. You can't create a crpg epic with 80+ hours playtime if you want to sell it to the casual gamer too. That puts a limit on how well constructed plot twists you can do. If you try to rush a plot, it becomes obvious (like Kotor, where you guessed it from pretty much your second dialogue with Bastila), if you drag it out, casual gamers becomes frustrated, no matter how good the plot is. At some time in the development of a product, you have to make a strategic decision, as to who your target is and stick to that. I know what I want, but I also know what it is most likely that I get. I expect a few well written, either independend or maybe slightly intertwined plots, nothing too complicated for the impatient mind, but not simple enough to scare potential buyers of up and coming games away. What do you think the twist(s) will be in KOTOR II
Gorth replied to Tyrell's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Somebody once said something to the effect, that there was only seven movie themes. The rest were variations of these. Same thing goes for plot twists. There are only a few and it will most likely end up being something, somebody has done somewhere else in some form. What is important is how it's done. Well written story etc. that like a stage act lets you forget the props, the wires, the spotlights (and emergency exit lights) etc, and loose yourself in the story. If it captivates the player, then which tools were used to do so becomes less important -
If the one on the left is a girl, I would probably trust her anyday to do the expected. The other one however, gives me the creeps. People who goes to much trouble to appear good and righteous usually turn out to be bad company. I'm an old cynic, put her back in the freezer

What I want to see in KOTOR II
Gorth replied to Fearless_Jedi's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Remember, they didn't even bleed in the movies ? No Kill Bill here unfortunately -
Sorry. It's just that some of us read the "New Project Naming Format" which is a sticky just up there *points to top of board* B) It has been around for awhile

Please make a Fallout style ending...
Gorth replied to Death Claw's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Ok, I get it ... :D Sorry, that statement was a personal oppinion. Different people, different tastes in what is considered best story Would have been nice with a little sequence, showing different outcomes on Manaan, Korriban and Tattooine. What alternative endings were there on Kashyyk ? Manaan could either stay neutral, ban you or ban the Sith from access to the Kolto. Korriban could be with different or no leaders of the academy and Tattooine could be completely in the grip of Czerka or left to the Sandpeople. Can't remember what the alternative outcomes were on Kashyyk (and I played though that thing 4 times). Completely unrelated, was there ever any way to open the two "other" doors on the Yavin station ? -
Since this is "Hollywood", figuratively speaking, people presumed dead, have a nasty habit of not staying dead. Somebody strolls by, finds not quite dead corpse, patches it up and there you go. Lets just assume that the tabloid game press didn't get all the details wrong, Revan is still alive and T3 is a viable NPC (although turning him into spareparts for Hk-47 was high on my todo list) Hk-47 ? Is probably to busy testing old and new protocols for Revan. Or he might have tried to tackle a too difficult mission, like the assassination of Mandalore, which he failed in. Carth ? A whimp. Hero of the Republic, turns tail and runs away as soon as the going gets tough. Last seen still running on some outer rim world. Too cowardly to lay down and die. Might still be around. Zaalbar ? Is currently contributing his fur to decorate my fireplace (without the rest of Zaalbar). All honour, little brains and way too little sense of selfpreservation. Evolution in action, Carth's opposite. Mission ? Never reach an age where she could legally buy Tarisian Ale in my games. However, with her scoundrels luck, streetsmarts and being a survivor, I wouldn't bet agains her being found by the Rat... Rak... those guys on the unknown world and put back together. Jolee ? Lived a long and wasted life. Contributed nothing to the galaxy and will not be remembered by any but Revan and a few others. Canderous ? Still following and worshipping Revan, trying to figure out the meaning of life. Like Hk-47 he might still be out there somewhere, fighting something, anything, to fill the void in his life... Juhani ? Revan was allergic to cats, so she had to go. Didn't even make a nice pair of gloves for somebody. Bastila ? Still waiting for a chance to make a name for herself, whether it being a Jedi master or a Sith Lord. She doesn't care, as long a the galaxy bows down to her in awe of her fantastic force powers and generally adore her. Might make a guest appearance. Revan ? Getting to the top is easier than staying there. Just ask Palpatine. Eventually got tired of it all and set out on an obscure quest for the force knows what purpose. Will probably let you know by indirect means what he/she is up to.

Will there be more interesting death animations. Not necessarily blood-n-guts, but more dramatic? Will there be Jawas? Not necessarily on Tattooine, they could end up in a shipment of droids by accident Will any of the female cast have a tail? Will all important doors in the game be made of Corthosis (spelling?) weave, rendering lightsabers useless at inappropriate times? Will all NPC's have a part to play, or will some be there for the roleplaying/flavour stuff? Will there be better facial animations on the models, especially the humans ones, when talking (a few more polygons wouldn't hurt on the close-ups )? Will we be able to fill out a questionnaire and name one of the villains (like Darth Caen)? B) *retreating to think tank...*

Who ? Grr... Arg... Honestly, I don't get the fascination with Revan, they guy/girl did something that made headlines on GNN (Galactic Network News, ® by Czerka Corp.) for a few month and then is back to the ongoing squabble between factions, politics, unemployment rate on Coruscant and Czerka corruption scandals. Enter stage left: New Hero. Let Revan be some obscure figure from a distant past without any significant role except perhaps a cameo, a ghost from the past as somebody else suggested. Reusing game engines is ok, reusing heroes ? Nah...

Imagine Annah triple-wielding lightsabers, one in each hand and one held by the tail to protect her back

Can somebody enlighten an ignorant, what does "PWN3D" mean ?

What missions do you want to see?
Gorth replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Instead of 5/7 whatever worlds of killing endless waves of baddies/goodies, It could be interesting with themed worlds. Not only simple themed, but in the way you have to operate on each world. Thought experiment: A world like Coruscant where the modus operandi is Diplomacy, Persuasion, Intimidate, Bluff etc. A wild west type world where people respect a fast trigger. People with high blaster skills will have an easier time. People will recognise whatever skill points was put into the "shooty" skills and only few heads need extra holes. A eastern planet which respect martial/blade arts, a high tech world where you need all the tech, repair, computer etc. skills your party can muster. If a world is too hard for your current party skills, go hunting for more npcs and/or increase the skills necessary in your specialists. Eventually you'll be able to take on the group of bad guys/girls, whether they be Darth Bastila, Darth Molitor or similar galaxy wide known villains B) -
Technically, you're right. He did get the most votes, but thats a story for the WoT forum

Light Side and Dark Side endings from KOTOR
Gorth replied to Ivan the Terrible's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
In the case of a DS ending in Kotor, Revan will eventually be challenged by Bastila, to be the Dark Lord (Lady), Thats the Sith way. After Revan, she'll have the jedi for breakfast In the case of LS ending, the jedi will probably still be reeling from a series of wars, Exar Kun, Mandalorian, Revan/Malak etc. They may not have enough infrastructure left to keep it together as they were used to, and cease to exist as a viable force, even if the Republic was victorious in the end. Just speculating B) -
I feel like crying... Edit: Perhaps they should split the board up in age groups ?

One wonders if Obsidian is going to be *the* last one allowed to announce it ???

You "forgot" to use the force? oh, come on....
Gorth replied to Meshugger's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Perhaps it requires constant training and meditation to keep your mind "sharp" ? Try playing some sport like tennis for 15 years, take a 5 year break and then start again. You might be surprised how much practise you need to get up to your old performance again -
Booth babes in Princess Leia costumes ? Speaking of the music, yes, Korriban was the most athmospheric of the bunch. I couldn't get rid of the feeling, that I was shopping in a supermarket when walking around Ahto city
