KOTOR III isn't a Bioware license, is it?" No, that would be a LA license. Now if the guy (J.M.) could just have said: "We are not working on a sequel..." Then we could rule out FO3 and BG3 too. Now, can somebody tell me what the third state was to join the US ?

Do You Think Obsidian Has Done A Good Job On K2?
Gorth replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
actually, if you would like to check page 4 of this thread, you can see that i quoted gorth 8 times in one post. so i think that i know what he was talking about and what i was talking about while you are just being an ass. Actually, he seems to be right, it sure as hell wouldn't take my 30+ quotes. There does seem to be a limit imposed by the board software (which is why, I in the end couldn't be bothered trying to restructure the quotes) As for being a chimp... where is Kumquatq3 when you need him. He keeps bragging about being able to best a chimp in hand to hand combat... -
IMO, it makes Greedo look like an incredibly bad aim. Considering he's supposed to be a top notch bounty hunter, if his aim is any indication then the rest of the bounty hunters out there must really be horrible shots. Hmm... Not even a ship (Goto's yacht) full of bounty hunters could bring down my hero. Perhaps they *are* lousy shots

Do You Think Obsidian Has Done A Good Job On K2?

Ouch, you hurt my manly pride... :'( ... (Not! :D) Good trolls have been rare since Volourn grew old and toothless... Sorry whiny one, but you are the one, that wanted to market yourself as an authority on the subject. When I read your previous posts, I thought you were a college boy, doing an internship for G.D. or a similar fair sized company. But when I got to the "the story was already there" part and this: (referring to the K1 engine) then I could only believe one of two things: 1) You are the reception guy, hanging out with the developers in the lunch room and don't really know much about how things work outside your familiar surroundings or 2) Bioware is more stupid than I give them credit for, when they can't manage two teams working concurrently on a project. To be fair, both are valid options, but I did make my mind up. There isn't really any "argument" to avoid, when all you are doing is being as insulting as possible and spamming the the post with a "Shame" phrase with Ctrl-V. An argument can only take place between two parts who knows something about the subject being discussed. Your attempts to pass off adjectives ad nauseam as an "argument" doesn't do the job. Why not just let it rest at, that you didn't think they did a good job, because, frankly, your attempts at "arguing" for why they did it, fails miserably because of your lack of knowledge of development process meets business process... -
Aren't the lightsabers randomly generated most of the time ? I remember reloading three times before a certain dialogue, to finally get a single lightsaber (having alread acquired a few double and short lightsabers).

the character or npc of least importance

That, and HK-47's Translation protocol (was that the right name?) feat where he can speak to non basic speaking droids. Smells very much like intended use on the droid world that was cut -

If working for a large company, supplying specialised tools for others is your only reference, that would explain the tunnel vision on your perspective. Games developers are twelve by the dozen and don't tell a publisher "to wait". In this case, the deadline became set in stone for reasons not entirely known, possibly, they figured that with a game getting released together with the third movie, a second game released at the same time would hurt the buttonline. So it get's released at xmas where the seasonal extra sales would cover up for any shortcomings in the released product, since other products presumably are lined up for the movie release. For the publisher, all that matters is return of investment, reputation doesn't really matter, they are the sole provider of Star Wars products. If you don't understand that a new company don't put the same weight on the scale as a decade old, multi million dollar company, then it might be time to get out of your protective shell and see the real world a bit. Reminds me a bit of the used cars salesman in "True Lies" -

I was going to write an awfully long and detailed explanation for AgainstOne why the earth is round, despite it being flat from his perspective. Unfortunately, the quoting kept getting screwed up for me, so I decided, some things aren't worth the bother of proper quoting, much less valuable time.... ;)" That would explain why the missile tests keep failing... -
I'm probably the only Hanharr fan around here, so I'll just say, he was one of my two favourite npcs (T3 being the other)... A complicated character with a troubled past, no whiny Zaalbar that one. Have him dual wield Gammorean axes (or their "named" equivalents) and watch him when on a fury induced rampage
-
Ironically, in K2 I thought of HK-47 as one of my only two honest NPCs (Mira/Hanharr being the other). Even T3 is a lying cheating tin can, manipulating everybody to his/it's own ends. Quite refreshing with somebody that makes no secret of what they desire

Looks like Sim Life, The Cool Version

Replaying it for the umpteenth time. My only technical grievance is the quests that don't disappear from my questlog when they are unsolvable (escaping criminals &^%$#@ !!!) Edit: Oh, and some weird fast forwarding (broken?) dialogue.

Yup, according to the flanneled one himself, if it's in a feature movie, it's canon, otherwise not. Of course, with his habit of changing the already released movies, old canon might be replaced with new canon at a later date
-
I don't agree, but that was comedy gold
-
Well, there is sort of a difference between wanting to force somebody at gunpoint to do something, giving them fair warning that deadly force may be applied if they don't comply and then killing them outright with no warning. Anyway, I liked the original unedited movies way better...

Yeah, cut the revisionistic crap, we saw it back in 1977, Han murdered Greedo in cold blood

Do You Think Obsidian Has Done A Good Job On K2?

It's the bird in the hand thing. A thousand bucks in the bank is better than a million well-wishes and pats on the back. Big-ass publisher asks you to do a job. BAP tells you terms and conditions (which probably suck). Do you turn offer down and worry about the next rent, or do you take it and worry about getting your next project after that one. I think it says a lot about the publisher wanting a sequel to a major title done in a year (read: "$"). So, developer is left with doing the best possible job on a project where the deadline plays the yo-yo game and bounces back and forth during the project. If you, as you claim, are a developer, you should know that this is a real killer for a product, when you have to start cutting on your feature list on a short notice. And when the developer is new and doesn't (didn't) have it's own QA department, it was all in the hands of the publisher, determining both if and when it was fit for release. Not a situation I would put people in, if I could avoid it. Given that, I thought they did quite well, what they managed to come up with. As for the technical side of things, both 1 and 2 had an existing engine that needed reworking to fit their needs. In this case, I would consider it a fair assumption that engine work happens simultaneously with the game content (assets, story etc.) work, as some engine features might depend on requirements from the actual game design. It's a fun thing about writing... it doesn't go ten times faster because you put ten authors to write ten different chapters in a story. There are things where you can't force results by adding more manpower, it simply requires time. By comparison, that gives the first game 3 years of story writing, character and plot development etc. The second game had 1 year. Again, I think they did pretty well, having had one third of the time... I know, you can't judge people by a few posts, I just found you to arrive at all the wrong conclusions in a single post, hence my somewhat (perhaps undeserved) sarcastic response -

If this is the extent of your knowlegde of the development and busniess side of things, remind me never to offer you a job -

If you are thinking story/plotwise, I suspect Goto was hit the hardest. Otherwise, I would say Remote. He is the one you get to control, that ends up doing absolutely nothing -
The thing with the holocron is what you set Revan to be.

It's a flaming longsword + 2 (+5 vs. missiles)

Meh, If it had to spread to other genres, I would like to see a Master of Orion 2 SW version (especially if a re-release would fix some of the bugs in there) Edit: Or a Jagged Alliance 2 with stormtroopers and republic soldiers...

1932 Ole Kirk Christiansen, master carpenter and joiner, establishes his business in the village of Billund, Denmark. His firm manufactures stepladders, ironing boards, stools and wooden toys. His son, Godtfred Kirk Christiansen, starts working in the business at the age of 12. 1934 The company and its products now adopt the name LEGO, formed from the Danish words "LEg GOdt" ("play well"). Later, it is realised that in Latin the word means "I put together". The firm has 6-7 employees. Ole Kirk places the following motto on the workshop wall: "Only the best is good enough".
