  1. I got one of those about six months ago... First and foremost because I didn't have BG1+ToTSC and secondly because the main games were on DVD (and thirdly to get an extra backup set of my BG2. so I could now throw out my homemade backups). The Icewind Dale box I bought the same place was still nicer though (even though I had both IWD and IWD2 already), with all it's extra soundtrack, strategy guide pdf file on disc etc.
  2. My Standards are much higher than everybody elses and therefore my opinion carries more weight than yours K2 was a decent game with a crappy ending. NWN2 was a good game which actually had an ending. Not sure if either of those two games will enter the ranks of classics, but as long as you get your moneys worth of entertainment out of them... Somebody hide this poor horse carcass from the kids with sticks.
  3. Perhaps he objects to not being tortured properly?
  4. 192 minor issues down, 22 minor issues to go. Smells like a version change in a foreseeable future. It also looks like that one text issue that has been around since forever is gone. Probably a mercy killing >_
  5. Discovering the reason for the weird floating text above nobody and the unsolvable quests was the first time I wished for a game publisher to go out of business...
  6. Actually you bring up a good point. The Mexicans have no historical standing to assert any past "ownership" of the southwest. Only the Pueblo and Navajo indians can do that. The discussion made me curious and I dug a bit history up from various sources. Man that place has a colourful history. It could almost have been European with all the ethnic groups and forms of governments over less than five centuries  First there was the natives, then the spanish settlers, the mexicans, the russians (not to mention the monarchy of New Helvetia founded by that swiss guy), the independent republic of California and finally conquered by Commodore Sloat for the US. Apart from the fate of the indians, none of the history books seems to care much about the losers of wars though.
  7. Downloading... just in time for my old games to arrive (finally cleared customs, a sad byproduct of jumping country every now and then). It still might be a week or two before I find my Ja2 box among all the other stuff though
  8. Out of curiosity (because history interests me), what happened to the mexicans who used to live there before the english speaking immigrants came to California? Did they all get killed off? Did they get the same deal as the native indians elsewhere (reservations etc.) ? I remember reading up on some history, that the mexican goverment tried to buy the loyalty of the new english settlers by offering them land, but the end result was that they accepted the land but stayed loyal to their US neighbour. It almost looks like history is repeating itself, just with in the reverse direction
  9. I guess it's time to quit the garlic... :'( You're a Vampire!! Seductive, beautiful, mysterious, and quite evil. You're very dark and dangerous.. You kill to feed, and prey upon the most unsuspecting and beautiful people you can find...
  10. I don't think it has anything to do with writing a good operating system or playing police. I think it has more to do with monopolising the distribution and use of digital media. [/scepticism]
  11. Remind me to born as a vehicle in my next life :fear: Finished NWN2 for the fourth time. I'll put it away for a while. Not really sure what to play next Maybe Pirates! Has anybody tried Sid Meiers Railroads! ?
  12. This is a very SelFISH' thread, isn't it?
  13. They are a bit prude conservative in and around the British Isles, aren't they?
  14. My first "love" was BBC Basic. Since it isn't around anymore, I would say C++ for it's flexibility (not necessary for readability). For quick and dirty work, a combination of visual basic and t-sql will do.
  15. Maybe Projects Georgia and Connecticut? The way that New Jersey disappeared didn't really bode well for that particular project (whatever it was).
  16. No OpenGL support whatsoever?!? How do I change my vote from "not until I have to" to "no"?
  17. Once they tie me up and place me in front of the firing squad unless I swear allegiance, I'm not likely to. Not for "gaming" or "media" reasons anyway. Using my computer for traditional media was/is an added bonus, not the purpose for which I got it. DRM can rot in hell for all I care Since PC games are becoming increasingly rare (at least it appears so), dx10 is not a motivator. I need games, I'll go look for wii, ps3, whatever.
  18. That guy already misses the drug spambots
  19. Agree to a certain point I might be wrong, but I do seem to remember that both Fallouts had a (sort of) scaling system too, in that the random encounters increased in difficulty the further south you moved on the overland map. But since you weren't really forced to spend all your "outdoor" time in the southern half, you could just move to areas where enemies of a type you felt like bashing were more likely to be encountered. Felt like fighting plants and rats? Stick to Arroyo and surroundings for a while, feel like some power armoured, gauss gun wielding enclave thugs, hang around the area of umm... can't remember the name of the base anymore :"> I don't mind a good challenge at all. It's just that when it gets systematically kept at a certain difficulty level compared to your own abilities, some of the fun disappears. Of course, if my level 2 vault dweller falls down a pit of hairy deathclaws, some of the fun might disappear too For me (personal taste stuff), a nice mix would be to give you a chance of "getting back" (wiping the floor with them) at those who made your life miserable in the early part of the game and then use the harder encounters as stumbling blocks between you and special accomplishments, like solving sidequests, discovering that the earth isn't flat, etc. And since this is Fallout, it ought to be an option to solve at least the critical path and a number of sidestuff without always having to build the ultimate optimised combat machine Just my 0.25$
  20. Scaled encounters are annoying. They take all the fun out of levelling up You feel like you never make any progress (except that the loot grows fatter). Oblivion is by far not the only game guilty of that though. There is something perversely satisfying in frying 30 mewling opponents in a firestorm (whether it be magical or napalm) and be done with it so you can move on
  21. Looks nice. Now, can anybody tell me what the heck those paid subscriptions are that I can purchase in my control panel?!? And what is this stuff called "Friends" ? Might take a while to explore all the new buttons :)"
  22. I don't think she intended to kill the force, just study the exile and see how "it works" when somebody severs the connection and seems to be able to still walk and breathe. I can't remember the exact quote, but I think she mentions something to the effect that it is indepence from, not death of the force she wants. Interesting exercise... Atton could also be neutral evil, he does have a past as a sith assassin. Bao-dur would be lawful neutral? He was willing to facilitate mass murder on both mandalorians and jedis. Is Nihilus truly evil or is he just hungry?
