  1. I think it is talking about Kotor2, not NWN2 >_
  2. First impressions from a NWN2 n00b >_ Summed up: Having great fun >_ I'm playing on a laptop and crossed my fingers, that it would run. It did, without any major trouble. It didn't like the dynamic shadows, but that was about it. Not sure how to estimate framerates, but it runs as smoothly as a politicians election lies. I don't get it what all the whining about the graphics is about, my only complaint there is the walk/run animations which honestly suck. I noticed that in Kotor2 too (Kotor1 had nice walk/run animations). I decided to do a "test run" first, created a warlock and played until finishing the tutorial and the first "dungeon". I got my first two party members (and I already want to strangle one of them, kudos to a well written character, she really *is* annoying). The dwarf on the other hand is a pretty good conversationalist... if he would just stop talking... >_ I can't really say anything about music and sound as laptop speakers just doesn't do it any justice. When I finish building my new pc, I might be able to enjoy it in 5.1 As for rules/combat/difficulty/game mechanics etc. I'm not really entitled to an opinion. I never really played PnP versions "like it was intended to be used". That also means, I am unlikely to spot bugs, left outs, add ons, other things considered heresy by D&D radicals, 3.5 purists and other extremists. Now off to start a new game with a character I intend to finish the game with. Duellist prestige class looks like my thing... :D
  3. Perhaps I should stop reading forums for a while... Now, I'm wondering about those emails too. I always thought it was the cab driver, being one of those who are more than what they seems, pulling the strings as a means to an end only he can fathom. Now I suddenly don't know who sent them :'(
  4. Just started playing NWN2. Runs smoothly on my laptop. Only 1024x768 as more is wasted on the small screen, but otherwise most effects cranked up, except shadows. For some reason it doesn't like the fancy shadows. Doesn't slow it down too much, but it creates some ugly artifaces. Currently having a blast, finishing the tutorial and getting my first genuine partymember. A shame I couldn't keep whatshisname wizard from the tutorial. He was quite hilarious, reminding me of the holographic doctor from one of those Star Trek TV Series I once saw a few episodes of. I sense a conflict of interests looming in the future... work vs. nwn2
  5. I think there might be some minor differences in the content of the limited edition around the world. I found one on the shelf of a store today and bought it. I had the game dvd, manual, art book, two rings and a cloth map (yes, cloth) Now I've just have to find the time to install (and patch) and play the thing :">
  6. Well, they do, but sheesh it's crappy. It really shows, that there has been no competition for Telstra. It's their terms or no terms...
  7. Apparantly, Australia is part of the US then Looked like Unreal Tournament meets Starsiege Tribes. Edit: Perhaps "Outside the US" means Canada and Mexico?
  8. American Heritage Dictionary n. Informa. Something about which one frequently complains; a particular personal vexation. American Heritage Dictionary of Idioms pet peeve A particular or recurring source of irritation, as in My pet peeve is that neighbor's cat running through my herb garden. [Early 1900s] WordNet pet peeve n : an opportunity for complaint that is seldom missed; "grammatical mistakes are his pet peeve"
  9. I don't really know which is more fun... people who writes bots that pretends to be human or people who treat bot created posts like they were written by humans
  10. I'm sure the bots programmer will appreciate it... if he ever were to actually read the forums that is
  11. Presumably, it's the strength of your personality that does the trick. Hm... Just trying to envision the above... doing skill checks vs. Bluff, Persuation and Intimidate for Turn Undead Cleric: "Ok, you ugly pile of worm eaten crap, are you going to lie down and be dead again now or do I have to take you apart at the joints and carve my initials on every single one of your bones with a spoon?" Skeleton (failing will check vs. bluff): "Ehh, Ok " Perhaps Charisma is better
  12. Is it just me, or has it been edited to add some of the game titles? I'm sure they weren't there when first posted Well, saves me googling for the characters. Looks great... remember playing Q*bert and Tapper way back in time
  13. What made you think that it actually intended to PM anybody?
  14. Mostly the latter part. I don't register any software unless forced to. If a piece of software tries to force me to do so, I will first try to find workarounds or "fixes" for it to avoid online registration. And yes, thats for legally purchased software. My windows and various security software are the only programs from top of my head that are registered in order to receive regular updates.
  15. That is a brilliant rationalization for poor programming practice. ;p >_ A less talented coder can write nice structured code that gets a job done in it's own pace. A sloppy coder can write unreadable, but fast code with a low execution complexity O(some funny expr.) or how ever that notation was back at the universithy when doing formal algorithm comparisons. A good coder writes well structured, efficient code. Choice of paradigm is not only a question of coding speed/code execution but a questiion of analysis/design paradigm, maintenance cost, accessability, system integration and a heck of a lot more.
  16. .NET is not a languagenitpick>
  17. I know CIA is not exactly famous for their assessment of other countries, but according to them: https://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/sf.html the post apartheid death rate is 22 deaths/1,000 population (2006 est.) . The pre apartheid might be a bit trickier. I've got a new developer starting here in a few weeks time from South Africa, maybe he can give a hint where to search. Sort of depends on how urgent you need to info.
  18. It's called evasive maneuvers (Sp?)... If you have played Icewind Dale II, you'll never trust a barrel not to have a hidden agenda. Better to stay clear of them and try do dodge whatever they may do to you
  19. Don't you ever get tired of repeating yourself again and again? ? http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?sh...ndpost&p=708249 http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?sh...ndpost&p=708199 http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?sh...ndpost&p=708223 It might just be a coincidence that I read all three posts within 5 minutes of each other. Did sound a bit like a broken record Not that people aren't entitled to oppinions, but you made it sound like the entire world was doing it
  20. Don't you ever get tired of repeating yourself again and again?
  21. They might have some trouble maintaining the ESRB Teen rating then I'm really looking forward to have an oppinion about this game now

Select the My Controls link at the top right hand corner of the forum. From your control panel, you should have an Edit Signature on your lefthand side. You can add text and tags in the text box there. Edit: DN just did one better and showed exactly which tags to use
  23. Well, he just helped me make my mind up whether to buy or not. I'm so gonna get this game when it gets released here in Australia (on the 16th I think) :D
  24. Muahaha... the cops kept the game. As evidence? Yeah right! Somebody should go and check what those guys are doing late at night at the police station
