Goto's Yacht Fighting Tips
With a bit of luck, you haven't sold all your Ion guns yet (aratech droid vapouriser and whatever they are called). Also, destroy droid jedi powers (or force lightning) makes life much easier. You might also appreciate the usually significant number of personal energy shields available in the game Before engaging droids, equip non jedi with weapons designed for droid killing (either made on the workbench, found or purchased). Activate personal shields (those that protect against energy), use things that boosts your speed (drugs or jedi powers), say some famous last words and charge them. Concentrate all your fire against one enemy at a time until he is dead, then concentrate on the next etc. The only place I found particularly hard, was the center of the ship with all the gun turrets. That is, until I realised I didn't have to go there before I picked up the exile

STALKER part 2
They got fragged! Quite literally. Luring them out with a few salvos, I lead them back to other stalkers and when they were all crowding together at the fence, trying to get through the holes, I sacrificed a few of my holy handgrenades. It was quite funny actually, they actually tried to run away from the grenades, just to get caught in the covering fire of my "allies", promptly ducking and taking cover, still within the blast radius of the grenade. Sucks to be them I guess. Two grenades weakened the bandits enough to make them manageable. Dragging as much loot as possible back to the trader turned out to be a drag (pun unintended). Especially when trying to run across that radioactive stretch of railroad I seriously like a game where you can't carry 350kg of equipment and run at the same time. Requires a bit of re-adjustment for an old pack rat gamer

WOOHOOO! 1.10 Patch for NWN2 is up!
I would have thought so too. On the "strategic view" panel, there are two checkmarks, one for scroll when camera hits edge and one for turn when camera hits edge (which is what I assume is similar to the old top down control). I can't make the "turn" thing work. If I uncheck both, camera is dead when I hit the side of the screen with the pointer. If I check the "turn" option, the camera stays dead. If I check scroll (or both for that matter), the screen scrolls orthogonally. Needs more fiddling... as I said, quite possible that I am overlooking something obvious.

WOOHOOO! 1.10 Patch for NWN2 is up!
Arghh... my camera controls This is going to take some getting used to. How about third camera option: Keep the old controls? I am no big fan of having to use the scroll wheel as a push button when turning my camera around (top down mode). Maybe I am just missing something. Performance does seem better though, even after remembering to change the settings back to high Edit: The inventory changes seems nice. Haven't played enough to have an opinion yet though.

STALKER part 2
So, I bought this game a few days ago (Collectors edition), installed, patched etc. Much to my surprise it actually runs very well on my old computer, even on high settings. Maybe the NWN2 developers should take note Learned to dodge anomalies, kill enemies, mutants etc. Know most of the controls by now. I think I am in love with this game I've failed one mission so far (finding the fethin pseudodog tail). I took great pleasure in killing each and every dog I ran across, but none were the right kind. Ah well, can't win them all. After the second lost mission, I decided to replay that mission (I survived, but the other guys didn't). I got my ass handed to me royally, trying to help out Bes defending the garbage dump from bandits. A kindgdom for a flamethrower! Maybe it is time to break out the grenades, or is there a trick to completing this mission? I don't have any sniper rifles, so just picking them off in fast succession with headshots is not an option

How to Change My Party
Actually, there *are* places on Nar Shaddaa where the game won't let you swap party members in and out at will. If I remember correctly, Refugee sector is one of them. You need to walk back to the main "square", then you can swap party members and head back again. You will find the same thing happening on other planets when you get further away from the Ebon Hawk.

What are you playing now?
Finished my game of Kotor2. Besides my game of PS:T and getting to grips with the game mechanics of Europa Universalis III, I went and bought the collectors edition of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Played it for what, 30-60 minutes, solved my first few missions, made some Rubles, got myself a shiny little artifact, generally having great fun. I think I like this game. I had just been playing for a while, ended up being badly wounded, heading back to camp when I ran across an anomaly. That will teach me to save more often >_

Getting into industry!!!
You are welcome. I can't say I have seen them before. The only one I recognised (from elsewhere) from top of my head was cgsociety. I think most of the people who put questions here are "geeks" as opposed to artists. Questions about programming, writing and game design seems to be more prevalent than questions about art. Call it a hunch, but I would guess that most artists don't start out wanting to be game artists, it just happens naturally that they get contracts/commissions doing art, whether it be level art, texturing, modelling or concept art as part of what they do naturally, i.e. either doing or wanting to do art for a living. It would be pretentious of me to speak on behalf of the gaming industry though, as it is not how I make my living

Getting into industry!!!
I think you can find quite a bit in this section of the forum too. The trick is to select "Show All" and not just show last 30 days of activity. Out of 19 pages, quite a few threads are about the gaming industry and how-to's (including tips from developers). Anyway, good luck with your career pursuits

I am not holding my breath either. I would be lying, if I said I didn't feel envy though. I would prefer to play the mod sooner rather than later.

Sequels you wish were being made
I don't know if it belongs in this thread, but add Jagged Alliance 3 to my list. Strategy First would probably like to put one on the shelves, but if they ever get around to do it?

Icewind Dale 2 Soundtrack - Strange version
Not really. I have the 51 track version that came with my Icewind Dale - The Ultimate Collection (which despite it's name didn't have Trials of the Luremaster on CD *Grrr!!!*) I wonder what version you found there
-
Sequels you wish were being made
Attack of the Mutant Camels II (Revenge of the Mutant Camels doesn't count) Sheeps in Space II Hover Bovver II Doomdarks Revenge II Master of Orion IV (like, forgetting that III ever existed) Tombraider Anniversary II (like, one that stays true to the original Tombraider, not the crap that was released) Syndicate wars II Defender of the Crown II SDI II (Cinemaware version) Colonial Conquest II War in Russia II A different Fallout III Temple of Apshai II Forbidden Forest IV Baldurs Gate III Icewind Dale III Planescape Torment II Carriers at War II Crusade in Europe II Decision in the Desert II Elite IV ... Blergh! way way too many to list in one go

Off for a soldier
Well, I always thought the british soldiers to be of far superior quality to their high command. The reason why I saw as a fitting comparison was the fighting of elusive insurgents in a large country and then this sense of invincibility that the english empire seemed to have at the end of that century. No adversity too big and no enemy too numerous to be overcome by a handful of men. My Africaans speaking friends and colleagues of course have different points of view of those events

Off for a soldier
Umm... it was a bit intentional. It was written for the Boer war in South Africa in the 1890's, not Sudan. It may have been abused decades later, but I thought it illustrated the mindset of Victorian England quite well (that and Cricket).

Off for a soldier
Vitai Lampada THERE'S a breathless hush in the Close to-night - Ten to make and the match to win - A bumping pitch and a blinding light, An hour to play and the last man in. And it's not for the sake of a ribboned coat, Or the selfish hope of a season's fame, But his Captain's hand on his shoulder smote "Play up! play up! and play the game!" The sand of the desert is sodden red, - Red with the wreck of a square that broke; - The Gatling's jammed and the colonel dead, And the regiment blind with dust and smoke. The river of death has brimmed his banks, And England's far, and Honour a name, But the voice of schoolboy rallies the ranks, "Play up! play up! and play the game!" This is the word that year by year While in her place the School is set Every one of her sons must hear, And none that hears it dare forget. This they all with a joyful mind Bear through life like a torch in flame, And falling fling to the host behind - "Play up! play up! and play the game!" -- Sir Henry Newbolt (from a large collection of WWI poetry)
