  1. That is because you are swedish. Everybody is blonde in Sweden. I have a weakness for redheads. After that, very dark (asian) hair.
  2. There is a mod, Advanced Tombraider Loader (or some such) on one of the fansites, I think it might have been Tombraidre Chronicles. It enables you to run the original Tombraider with WDM sound and Glide emulation in Windows XP Pro SP2. I am almost at the Atlantis levels, just good fun (and shows how much Anniversary missed it's mark IMO)
  3. What happened, did they try to take our your neighbourhood?
  4. Often enough, courtesy of Vice and WinUAE Sadly, the original old boxes, manuals and floppies are starting to show their age now
  5. Korgan Bloodaxe. The one with a hatred of Aerie and a crush on Mazzy
  6. Not quite as advanced as The Sims 2, but my little brother had one of these in 1985: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Computer_People Talk about addictive. I think the session count went into the hundreds...
  7. Sounds to me like this: They have turned the mana bar into AP's. Once you have regenerated enough, you can cast your next spell do your next out of the ordinary thing and be rewarded with some splatter effects and possibly some faster kills. I blame the journalists for me buying NWN1 What about just, not liking what they "seem" to be doing with it, combined with their past track record in game design? I was one of those "Nooooo!" guys when Bethesda announced that they had aquired the rights to the entire franchise (minus FOOL), because I think they fit like a hand in a sock for that kind of game. I resigned myself to disappointment and silent despair. The less than charming traits of the "journalists" does ruffle my hair the wrong way though. Fallout 3 might surprise me positively, but it would need to be a lot of things that Oblivion was not to do that
  8. A reminder that EA once released a lot of different game genres... *reminiscenses (sp?) the days of "Seven Cities of Gold", "Hard hat Mack", "Archon" & "Racing Destruction Set"* I think I could use a remake of "Racing Destruction Set"
  9. I am not generally in the habit of mocking peoples lack of geography skills... but this young lady takes the first prize
  10. Thanks for the input. Money isn't a problem, I just don't like the feeling of paying extra for nothing Yes, I do mostly intend to watch DVD movies on it, so I am not going to sit rubbing my nose against the TV
  11. So, how much do we have to bribe you guys to keep quiet, so everybody else (i.e. *ME*) can get to play it?...
  12. It's that time of the month again... In slightly chronological (if not entirely accurate) order: Lords of Midnight That and it's successor "Doomdarks Revenge" are for me the ultimate hybrid of free roaming exploration, role playing & wargame. Forbidden Forest The most athmospheric "Survival" type game I can remember. It is still the only game that can give me goose bumps when fighting it out with Demogorgon. Elite Give me a Cobra Mk III and the rest of the galaxy (galaxies) can take a hike. Nato Commander My first "real time with pause" strategy game from Microprose (released in 1983, I got a year later). Ultima IV The C64 version, mind you. Had way superior sound and music compared to the PC version. My second great experience into the world of crpgs (the first being Temple of Apshai by Epyx) Mechforce A Battlemech combat sim. An old shareware program by Ralph Reed and the best of it's kind. Combines roleplaying and tactical combat in a great way. The AI is still able to outwit me every now and then :blush10: X-Com/UFO Enemy unknown Got that one for my Amiga when it came out. Awesome squad combat game and enemies that felt like a real menace to humanity. Just listening to those sounds and screams in the dark, when civilians gets butchered... Fallout The game that made me retire my Amiga 4000 and join the world of PC gamers (I am such a sellout). Kind of ironic after having ridiculed PC gamers for years for being the source of all evil, dumbed down games and designs that caters for the lowest common denominators. Those PC owners should just lay down and die or buy real computers (Amigas) to use for gaming instead Planescape: Torment I lliked the cover art. I had tried BG before, but didn't really like it. PS:T was love at first sight. It made me buy BG2 unseen when it came out and later I went back and revisited BG again (even completed it). No self respecting fantasy crpg should be without a hot girl with a tail (literally) What can change the nature of a man?... Jagged Alliance 2 Picks up the gauntlet from X-Com and in some ways beats it at it's own game. The kind of game that probably never will be again  I've probably forgotten some. Maybe the next list
  13. So why even try to make a sequel to a game that sold fewer copies than some NWN1 crappy community efforts were downloaded (i.e. a Stefan Gagne or Adam Miller module)? Name/Brand recognition? Even if it wasn't an impressive seller on release, it has been dragged out of its coffin and put on display so many times the last decade, that the gaming press knows about Fallout, even if they don't know jack about what it means.
  14. I don't know the magazine, but it is kind of sad when an era ends. The only gaming magazine I subscribed to was Zzap64 and my first love was "Your Computer". The latter giving me many of my first games (not as reviews, but program listings/source code)
  15. I've been trying to make up my mind what brand and model of plasma tv I should go for. I've got my eyes currently on a 42" Samsung or a 50" Panasonic. The last one is a bit more expensive. Tips and tricks what to look out for and which questions to ask in the retail stores would be welcome. Edit: I am a tv nub. The last TV I purchased was a Sony 15" Trinitron for my c64 20 years ago.
  16. Stardust It looks interesting enough. Why is it leading such a life in obscurity?
  17. Arghh! I won't have time to try this before the weekend I am very much looking forward to this title. Thanks for the impressions and the heads-up
  18. Good luck Going through resumees today, looking for new developers.
  19. Yay, we've got undeads and orcs. All we need is elves now
  20. Carmageddon 1 Best racing game ever When I've completed that, I am going to install my Splat Pack expansion for it.

    Books

Just finished "Legion" by Dan Abnett. Seventh book of the "Horus Heresy" series, which has quicly turned into my favourite fiction series. The ending of the book was a genuine surprise...
  22. You can change everything except the haircut and the sneakers The pictures look Ok. I mean, what can you do short of cheating and add an Eiffel tower to the Canal Grande in Venezia? As long as there are no elves and gnomes, I'll be happy Some video clips of the in-game action and scenery would be nice.
