The All Things Political Topic - new edition
Looks like it's not just the IDF that is against Netanyahu, the defence minister now also rings the alarm bells, predicting a bad end to these attempts at taking direct control of the judicial system (to avoid prosecution) https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-65076682 "In a brief televised statement, Mr Gallant described the reform plan as a "clear, immediate and tangible danger to the security of the State". He said members of the Israeli Defence Forces were angry and disappointed, with an intensity he had never encountered before."

What You've Done Today - Don't do today, what you can get someone else to do tomorrow
Thanks guys. I mostly dealt with it in a couple of years ago. Didn't really get (much) drunk yesterday. Did sift through a lot of old memories though. My dad saw it coming a few weeks ago, so he had taken care of the practical details. I'll go visit Europe next year and we will catch up with a family get together, he, me and my two brothers. Other than that, it was a nice Friday, spending much of the day in a place called Australia Zoo north of Brisbane (a place founded and originally run by Steve Irwin aka "The Crocodile Hunter"). After that, my friends and I went to the beach for a swim. I had almost forgotten how salty ocean water is 😛

Funny Stuff: If you tell a joke in the forest, but nobody laughs, was it a joke?
There are a number of variations of the below.... But don't panic, the US is not the only country to stand against Metric world domination, it's close allies Myanmar and Liberia bravely stands at it's side! 🇺🇸 🇲🇲 🇱🇷 ✌️

What You've Done Today - Don't do today, what you can get someone else to do tomorrow
My mother died last night. I'm, way too far away from Denmark to participate in any funeral arrangements, so I'll have to follow it from afar. Before anyone says condolences or similar, I mourned the death of my mother 3 years ago, when I realized, that she had for all intents or purposes that mattered "died" back then and no longer recognized my dad or any of her children. Her brain had deteriorated almost to a vegetative state long before Covid was a thing, so I'm sort of "over it" and resigned myself to the fact that she was "dead" back then and knew I would never speak to her again. It was just the empty shell of a body that got the memo a few years late. I might still get drunk tonight and pull out some old family photos

@JustLikeAFruitPounder sorry, I messed up the thread title by accident by making a wrong move. Happy to rename it back if you tell me the name, I just don't have any recollection of what the original title was

What are you Playing Now? It's not how you play the game, it's how you place the blame
It's been quite a few years since I played the game, but I seem to remember druid being quite powerful in this game (both offensive and support capabilities)

Music: Sharing and Listening - The music is not in the notes, but in the silence between
No specific individuals, but I sometimes listen to the old Alexandrov Ensemble (RIP). Formerly known as the Red Army Choir. They were an excellent group of male Russian singers. Sadly the original ensemble met an unfortunate end in a plane crash in 2016 (before falling out of windows became the latest Russian fashion)

I suspect you are being willfully obtuse here. Examples... in the US until recently, "People" were white, male land owners (We, the people, etc. etc. but only aforementioned group had any rights). In SA for a long while, "people" where white people, in Japan, Gaijin are not recognized as people by especially the older generation and in Myanmar the Rohingya are not considered people by the government. I.e. different places, different definitions of what is people and what is subhuman waste of genes. Laws and rules that protects people only protects those you consider people.

Did somebody say Russian singers?... no, I don't like their music particularly much to be honest, but I remember them because they were one of the first Russian "celebrities" to have a falling out with Putin in public. I think the "conservative" (i.e. way backwards) factions in Russia very much resented the two girls being lovers, LGBT being an occasional de facto death sentence in Russian society then and now.

Food Thread - Obsidian Gormand's Edition
If anyone ever happens to go to Melbourne some day and are curious about Danish food. I can recommend the Denmark House. An old establishment and no, nobody in there speak Danish, I tried 😂 But the smørrebrød is just as good, if not better than anything you get back in Denmark and the Aalborg Akvavit (schnaps) is imported. The dark rhye bread is fresh made in house, not the concrete bricks pretending to be bread you get in supermarkets. For me a must go to place next time I get to Melboure 😎 Yes, I got two variants of herring, because I'm a sucker for pickled herrings Edit: Found a Danish letter ø, that I could cut and paste

What You've Done Today - Don't do today, what you can get someone else to do tomorrow
A nightly visitor on the mosquito net... at first I thought it was one of those walking stick insects because it's huge (larger than my hand), but closer inspection revealed it to be a praying mantis. Good thing I'm not a potential snack 😁 When not admiring the late evening life on my upper floor balcony, I'm busy working on my Alpha Legion for games of Horus Heresy. It took a few failed attempts at getting the colour right. At first they were too green, then too dark, now I get the turquoise I wanted. Using the airbrush to give them first a few different shades of metallic and then a mix of clear blue (and just a little bit!) green.... After those "base" colours, they get a good, hefty layer of gloss varnish and then it's time for next step. A bit of black oil paint dissolved in a spirit solution. The capillary effect means the black paint (which dries a lot slower than the spirit) gets deposited in all the crevasses and armour edges for some extra definition and "depth". When dry (I wait 24 hours for the oil paint to be properly dry), it's time for the next step, which is the transfers/decals. Not shown here, but once they are dry, it's time for some satin varnish and then paint in all the details. Straps, backpacks, guns, eye lenses etc. The guys behind the legionnaires is my other work in progress, painting my Death Korps Kill Team (still need to paint helmets, boots, shoulder pads and guns as well as the bases for those)

Random/Interesting/Weird
I don't know how many here have watched Terry Gilliam's "Brazil", but as a British filmmaker he's probably way too well acquainted with the British bueacracy Now to the real life... https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-norfolk-65002430 In short, the council wrote to the deceased and offered him a tax exemption for being dead, if he filled out the form and returned it. Edit: Just to clarify, the guy wasn't dead, his wife died a month earlier.

The All Things Political Topic - Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn't mean politics won't take an interest in you
Abandoning how? Serious question. By protesting? By saying things nobody likes hearing? Should the courts issue a gag order and prevent them from speaking up? Should there be special police orders for cracking down on only certain political rallies? There is a name for such things. As also mentioned, not a serious threat to institutional democracy. That is provided by their counter part and those who support such measures as just mentioned above. Those are the ones that I worry about, as those are the ones who actually undermine society and get people killed.
