  1. Yes. You need NWN2 installed to play MotB, but you don't need to have played it Edit: It works sort of like BG2 and ToB. You can play ToB with imported/pre-generated characters, even though it technically is a continuation from BG2
  2. Lets compare snippets of info...
  3. Good man Maybe we should start a club...
  4. It finally came to a military confrontation between the glorious Byzantine Empire and the filthy French imperialists. Having amassed almost 190 regiments at the border and sailing a further 60 regiments in 3 navies around the Iberian peninsula, the offensive was precipiated by a flurry of espionage activity, completely destabilising the French before the long overdue declaration of war. The silly Bavarians decided to side with France and got devstated in the first month of the war. Relinguishing Transylvania to me and giving up the core provinces of some of my Austrian possessions was the price for them to remain independant. My Byzantine marines landed in Normandy and threatened Paris from the north while the bulk of my army invaded southeastern France. After years of warfare and more major battles than can be counted on two hands, one third of France and its overseas colonies were occupied territories. I did get my butt kicked in Paris though, as the Armee Royale was much bigger than anticipated. More than 25 regiments of cavalry alone plus 20 regiments of infantry. Internal unrest threatening further war efforts, peace terms were dictated and Piedmont, Provence, Schwyz, Lombardia and a few overseas possessions changed hands to their rightful and just owners.
  5. Eat our dust Kiwis!...
  6. I once lost an entire day of my life because I wanted to know more about the English Civil War on wikipedia
  7. Better save the face of this thread (yeah, too late, I know)... Plenty of room in C&C for generic "What constitutes a crpg" threads
  8. Maybe he managed to get himself shot during the first level?
  9. After a Dutch colonial empire and a resurrected Byzantine empire I'm done for now, thinking of going back to the Witcher, but I never did get the Enhanced Edition (or those massive patches) and I wonder whether my bandwidth can handle it. It's still much too expensive to just buy a copy of here (80NZD = something like 40-50USD). I was just going to wait for Alpha Protocol, but who knows what's happening with the release date there. I seem to remember seeing the EE edition at EB Games with a rather hefty discount. I'll take a second look at it when I get in there again one of these days to see if I remember wrongly. I know all about kiwi internet connections
  10. I really should play that one some day... bought the original "trilogy" pack a very long time ago. Still haven't gotten around to play Tactics yet though. Isn't there a mod around to fix the reputedly ridiculous amount of random encounters? I think it was that word of mouth thing that prevented me from starting a game originally (and then I eventually forgot that I had it lying around).
  11. If by EU you mean Europa Universalis, then Yay It strikes a good balance between level of detail and playability. Not too much to drown you in micromanagement (like Victoria - an Empire under The Sun) and enough not to make it too superficial (like various computer clones of "risk"). Plus, I like the period of history that it covers (1399 - 1821 or so)
  12. I think we stopped counting after 20. Numbers that large become too abstract Still playing a bit of Europa Universalis III. The Byzantine forces in northern Italy is now massing for a major offensive against the evil French. It just takes forever for the footsloggers to walk all the way from northwestern Persia to Italy and there are only so many transport ships to go around Soon my Greek speaking hordes shell educate the unwashed french masses with the sword and the cannon how proper civilisation is done.
  13. I think Kaftan is worried, him being a game designer and all, that women only wants to have his babies because of his wealth and influence, hence the recent threads
  14. You control small "squads" of 4-6 units, which gain experience, level and upgrade (a squire for instance becomes either a knight or an inquisitor, different strengths), magic is used outside of battle. There are four sides, the Empire (humans), the Mountain Clans, the Legions of the Damned, and the Undead. The art is beautiful even today if you ask me. I actually preferred Disciples 2 over Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Which is why I am so nervous/anxious to see what happens with the franchise. Note to self, go see how Disciples III is shaping up.
  15. One word: Watercooling (Yes, I am a very noise sensitive person)
  16. It went downhill after NFS2 Play "Racing Destruction Set" by Electronic Arts instead. Best racing game ever.
  17. This would be rad. I remember that (or a very similar) line from way back. I needed a cold shower afterwards Heck, all they need to do is re-skin the aliens into genestealers and dress the marines up as Imperial Guardsmen and the the Onyx engine gets a chance to show us what was almost originally intended
  18. More Dragons this way
  19. Start of old thread End of old thread Here be dragons, here be origins, here be discussions...
  20. I don't know if it is part of the literature, but you do get some casual remarks along the way implying that the sexual prowess of witchers is legendary. Maybe a side effect of the mutagens?
  21. ...if they could at least spell his name consistently wrong? 'Ugruhart' and 'Urguhart'? Sounds like a mob of related orcs Edit: The only answer I knew was James Pond
  22. Tim Curry? I think I remember him best as Frank N. Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show
  23. Since I doubt you are going to find Reach for The Stars for the Commodore64, Master of Orion 2 is the best thing out there. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to like x64 Vista There aren't really that many 4X games out there are there?
  24. That gives new meaning to the term "dogs of war".
  25. Got my new motorcycle a few hours ago. Survived the first 10km of rush hour traffic to get home. So far, so good
