  1. Who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Went down to the bank today and got the cheque to pay my motorcycle. My bank account is now a quivering, bleeding wound making mewling noises. The store better have that machine ready for me tomorrow...
  2. Thread pruned a bit. Call it a "social experiement". Maybe it is possible to discuss marxism without getting all childish and trollish about it, maybe not. Time will tell.
  3. Yeah, I sort of know what you meant. It was just too good to pass up on I guess the equivalent is you pay for your own annual medical checkup, vaccinations etc., but since I've skipped out on those for 25 years, it doesn't really figure in my mind as an expense
  4. I place my jetons on number guy
  5. You don't expect your health insurance to pay for your blood transfusions?
  6. Looks like the anticipation is making people all giddy... hard to stay focus on the subject
  7. ...and I was faithfully playing the juggle the DVD game when playing SoZ recently because I didn't know that it didn't need the disc...

"Blade Runner" and "1492 conquest of paradise"
  9. Very cool, and look theres one for sale in AU. What color did you order? "tri-color" Call me paranoid, but I would like to be seen in the traffic (they only had the black model in stock, otherwise I could have had it already Monday)
  10. As a n00b, there are limits to what you can drive in Australia (engine performance). Makes sense too. Even if I am a bit old for a beginner A new Honda CB400 (2009 model). Looked like the most likely candidate to be a low maintenance thing and not kill me outright on my first few kilometers.
  11. 'A' must be Intelligence
  12. You should try "Lemmings" (if you haven't already)
  13. Not having had a car for more than 6 years, I signed the papers and paid the deposit for a motorcycle yesterday. It should be ready for me to pick up on Thursday (they didn't have the colour I wanted in stock). Now I just need an mp3 player and some Steppenwolf
  14. The only characters I remember feeling truly protective of were my lemmings in the game of the same name
  15. Man, that must have taken some serious war score to wrest that kind of stuff from the big blue blob of death My Byzantine empire makes up the eastern Mediterranean and parts of Arabia. I control Rome, Jerusalem and Mecca for some nice bonuses. I still havent had the guts to start a border war with France yet. Fortunately for me, Bohemia broke the Transsylvanian empire apart, so I can now pinch a few of their southern provinces, hopefully drawing Croatia into the conflict too. Some complicated diplomacy. I want to conquer Croatia, but they are allied with France. However, they are also allied with Transylvania, so if I declare war on the latter, I might ending up taking both without going to war with France
  16. Did they actually burn the Danish flag? From the clips I've seen they usually have a bunch of American ones ready to go, but have to improvise when some other country pisses them off. They did more than that. Although, as you said, in the beginning they didn't have any danish flags (the stores only keep Israeli and US flags in stock), so they had to improvise with paper and crayons. Didn't take long for them to get proper danish flags to burn though. Then came the violence, tens of thousands of protestors, attacks on consulates and embassies, scores of dead and wounded, a significant dollar loss (significant for a small country that is) of exports, having to explain to the Norwegians why their bases in Afghanistan got attacked too (because they didn't know that there was any difference)

  18. I don't remember a Panda, but I do remember a UFO that was a "skimmer" and glided over the race track There was a similar game around at the time that I never really managed to find (so I only know it from hearsay) where you duelled in little Airfix modelplanes, being a multiplayer combat flight simulator.
  19. that rings a bell - racing RC cars right? Yes
  20. Anybody ever played Re-Volt? Funniest multiplayer racing game I remember (from Lan parties).
  21. I don't think I ever beat them at the mine, hence my comment about a "fighting withdrawal". Use the cover of the buildings to create kill zones and thin out enemy numbers. Roofs are your friend (just don't pick the roof edge that faces all of them), withdraw to the northern edge and run for it, hopefully having thinned out their numbers. Then return in true MacArthur style and claim the mine a bit later. You might want to go for the Chitzena mine first.
  22. Have you tried running towards them yelling "Butt kicking for goodness!"? The Drassen counter attack is indeed scripted and a good challenge for experienced players Have you tried a fighting retreat and then coming back with reinforcements? Edit: It is also possible to disable it in the configuration file, although I don't know if you have to do that before starting the game.
  23. You might as well try and convince people that the earth is round...
  24. Gorths simplified science: Bash it with a hammer. It breaks? Try new theory It doesn't break? Good enough, lets keep it Can't really say I've experienced anything of the sorts from the thread title. The things that has scared me has been my own over stimulated imagination. But man, can your imagination play tricks on you. Perceived things can be as convincing as real things where the mind is concerned.
