I think that answered the original question. People are still welcome to discuss real world politics (the powers that be knows, it pops up every so often in WoT), but lets try and keep this part of our microcosmos about Alpha Protocol

Two major blunders... Not finishing off England as a combatant, leaving an allied "standing stone" in the west. Attacking the Soviets in fall, (I seem to remember reading somewhere that the generals wanted a spring offensive, but logistical problems kept delaying it). I wonder if they could have have waited until next spring though, as Stalins purge of trained and/or experienced officers was at its highest and the red army in complete disarray. They might have have been able to ship out new indoctrinated junior officers and ncos at least the following spring. He (Hitler) had a strange habit of being decisive in both opportune and inopportune moments. His ruthlessness prevented a total collapse the first winter, but the same ruthlessness when changing strategy on the fly, overruling army officers, also managed to spread the war effort thin against a numerically superior enemy, rather than decisively go for targets within reach. Leningrad and Moscow in particular. Oh yeah, and the assumption that the lines on the map actually meant roads.

Not very long. The Nazi "movement" was sort of an apt description. Being powered by dissatisfaction and hope, it needed momentum. If you slow down and break the momentum, it cracks and falls apart. War was inevitable, as it was needed to focus the anger of the masses. Try switching off the magnetic field that keeps a ball of plasma in place.

...and for the ill-leet-erates among us, what does tl;dr mean? and do I really want to know? -
Hills Angels sure knew how to turn a few heads I liked both Monty Python and Benny Hill. Got the complete Monty collection (the tv seasons, not the feature movies). Looking for the best deal on Benny Hill at the moment.

Start of old thread End of old thread Getting close to the end of Dead Space. After much Obelisk pushing and shoving, I met the end boss. It sure is BOSS sized

That list just failed any and all saving throws Checking the list, I've played the following: Grim Fandango Fallout Sid Meier's Pirates! Battlefield 1942 Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn Star Wars TIE Fighter (I've played X-Com and Sim City too, but not on PC) I guess it is pretty pointless trying to create a list that mixes such a variety of genres.

Your upload speed is so fast that your puny meat body can't keep up. He just wanted to illustrate that his upstream capacity was thrice his downstream capacity

Hehe... nice idea. Unfortunately, the free shipping, supersaver and what else they have is void the moment you select a different country I try to "bundle" my amazon shopping. I've never bought a book there before though, only movie DVD's. Maybe different terms apply when buying books. I'll check it out.

I don't have the third book. Can't find the third book. The only way I can get the third book is go for the "Omnibus" which includes the two books I already have

I'm busting my way through "The Killing Ground" which is the most recent Ultramarines novel. I've been eyeing that one, but I lost track of the Ultramarines novels after the first two. I wonder how hard it would be to pick up the thread again?

You're on 10mbps and you're moving to ADSL2? That was posting from work I spend too much time at work sometimes. My home connection is a measly ADSL 8/1 Mbit or some such. What really got to me was the paltry 30gb monthly traffic, leaving me on dial up speed at least a quarter of a billing period. I want to listen to and watch streaming news from the world dammit Got one with a 200gb monthly traffic cap instead (and 20/1 mbit speed) @Calax: They merged.

Heck, even the original Red Faction failed at delivering anything but lip service to "destructable environment". It was obvious then, as it is now, that it is not there to support free roaming, but part of a puzzle. I.e. the puzzle is, you need to figure out which special ability to overcome an obstacle. The game really only needed two spells, the unlock door (blast rubble) and the kill enemy in droves (cook enemies) spells. Just for fun, I made use of the other ones (if nothing else, because I enjoyed watching the little spikes come up of the ground and impale my enemies), but then I played on easy. Never was much of a power gamer. So, you would rather they had just left out Aard (sp?) alltogether rather than pretend it was a telekinetic power?

Right... thread pruned, sorry about the collateral damage. Too much trolling going on at the moment.

Thats free market ecenomy for you. Explain to him that too many teeth on the market lowers the price Dropped my old ISP for my home connection and ordered a package from a different ISP. They should change connections tomorrow (Monday), so lets see if everything goes smoothly. Since I am moving from ADSL to ADSL2, I needed to buy a new modem. Haven't configured one of those for 2 years.

You mean like playing a xylophone? Sounds interesting (I'm a history addict). Is it personal stories (letters from xyz war) or a historians account of event, or something completely third? Finishing my current batch of "junk food for the brain", paperback books in the Warhammer Fantasy and 40k setting.

Sounds like you are looking for a real world physics simulator Tried The Sims yet? Just kidding. I think what you are looking for is beyond the capabilities of most engines and way beyond what the dusty old Aurora engine can do.

Getting ready to make a dash for the end of Dead Space. I like the game. It isn't "horror" and it isn't a shooter either. I just enjoy running around in ruins and derelict space ships I suppose I hate the control schema though, nothing that any key remapping can fix. In sheer stubborness I bought a Microsoft XBox 360 controller for Windows. Time to fight the enemy on its own territory

Not really Seems like we are all non-native english speakers, something might have gotten lost somewhere in translation/re-translationt. At least, that is what I prefer to think. Otherwise, the screeching noises and clawing at eyes are a bit hard to explain As far as I've been able to pick up, art direction is about "style", whereas engines might put limits on how you can implement a style.

I used to play it on my Commodore Amiga. It was... *sigh* Now I feel like, my eyes get all moist A game I would love to see running on contemporary computers.

Most of my memories from reading The Silmarillion are a bit fuzzy, but it goes something like, Elves are "immortal", as in they are bound to the world until it ends. When that is, only Eru knows. They die and they get spit out again into Arda. When they get weary of the world, they go to Valinor, sort of a retirement home for old souls. Humans on the other hand? Nobody besides Eru knows what happens to them when they die. [geek]Elrond was a half-elf and had to chose his "doom" as did his brother Elros. Elrond chose the doom of the elves, Elros that of humans. For those who saw the movie and wondered what the heck Aragorn was doing in Rivendell and why he was so familiar with elves, he is Elronds nephew, descending from Elros.[/geek] That leaves the question of Hobbitses... are they a variant of humans? Dwarves? No idea, the books don't tell. I think most of my objections to the ending is not in the detail, but in the general "mood" of the story
