Start of old thread End of old thread My pike is bigger than yours Just to avoid disappointing the discussing gentlemen, the end of last thread. Not sure if it leads anywhere, but worth a try I suppose.
  3. Europa Universalis III Because it is the only rts that I like.
  4. ...and he is serious about it too The gaming industry needs more CEO's like that
  5. If you didn't already, then you are going to need x64 Windows (or whatever OS) now
  6. Are you a troll/bot? The latter I think. Skynet in the making.

  9. I think the biggest problem is to sell these projects to people. There are no tangible benefits in such projects, so it lacks the "no holds barred" monetary backing to make quantum leaps. People can see the immediate benefits of smaller, energy friendly cars, faster computers and crops that are resistant to pests, so that is where the research money goes.
  10. It's an oxymoron. Translation: An action game for people who would like to think they play strategy games Not the best, but the first Star Wars game I ever played:
  11. Claiming it to be impossible doesn't stop the guys from the University of Vienna from actually doing it in real, practical tests
  12. Well, yes, because you have been arguing that the laws of physics might prevent us sorting out what are effectively logistical issues. The Europeans are already doing experiments with FTL communication. If you can transmit info faster than light, then it isn't impossible to imagine FTL travel
  13. Never underestimate the power of genetic engineering. Just select "wings" from the add-on menu
  14. If the third one is "just" an old game with a user mod and sold through their own online distribution, there isn't exactly a lot of cost involved As for the rest, loving both EUIII and Victoria, all I can say is
  15. Lords of Midnight I prefer the Commodore 64 version over the ZX Spectrum version
  16. Time for a short break... thread continued here
  17. Start of old thread End of old thread And because people were posting a lot of links towards the end of the old thread: Got link?

For what it's worth, I've tried Dead Space, Painkiller, all Infinity Engine games, the last 3 Tomb Raider games, Jagged Allliance 2, Europa Universalis III, NWN2, The Witcher, VMBL, Kotor1 & 2, Pirates!, MS Flight Simulator X, X3, BF1942 and a handful of titles that I can't remember without problems on 64 bit quad core architecture. Only issues were gfx related and could be fixed in the ATI control panel I still have a handful of "very" old games that needs testing. Moo2 didn't work. I am not sure that X-Com 3, Carmageddon and X-Wing vs. Tie-Fighter will work, still have to try those. In short, I think people attribute mystical destructive powers to 64 bit
  19. Which is really the core of the issue, isn't it? I am not a MMO player and would have loved to play a continuation of the story, but the realist in me arrived at the conclusion, at the very latest when it became known that LA had laid off their in-house Kotor3 staff, that it was unlikely to ever happen. It is Ok to want something badly, but life can be cruel sometimes and we don't always get what we want, even if it doesn't seem to make much sense from the information available.
  20. X-Wing, Tie-Fighter and X-Wing vs. Tie-Fighter... I think I still have some of the boxes lying around. Maybe it works on Vista 64 bit? Worth a try
  21. If it's just greed, and KOTOR 3 is such a sure thing, why wasn't it made? Out of spite! "Greed" is the prime mover in management. Short term and long term profits... what benefits the company owners the most? That is why, when somebody seems to discover a new profitable business model, others wants piece of the cake too. DLC, Monthly Subscriptions, etc. seems to be where the belief in the future is at the moment. If I have 500 dollars to invest, do I invest it where I get 750 dollars back or where I get 1000 dollars back? If the 750 dollars are a quick ROI and the 1000 dollars aren't, do I go for the 750 to reduce my liabilities and the need for financing? So many questions and no answers as simple as "I would like to see, therefore it must be the best option". Alanschu knows this, as does most people who work in "project based" businesses.

The only game so far that has given me issues on 64 bit is Master of Orion 2. The installer doesn't run. I tried running it on VirtualPC, but the tiny screen resolution makes it appear not much larger than a desktop icon The remaining issues have had more to do with gfx and various acceleration "features" that needs to be disabled when running them.
  23. There are several ways of interpreting that, not all of them positive I loved BG2, BG1 wasn't too shabby either. Some day, I might be able to identify why I like BG2 so much. Edit: Kotor was a fun enough game too for its time. Can't say much about Bethesda, too unfamiliar with their games in general. What little I tried didn't get me "hooked"
  24. Uwe Boll is the anti-matter of directing. His negative skill can overpower even the strongest talent. It takes something to come up with an average imdb rating of 2.4 for 14 movies
