  1. Make love not war Seem like we've reached the end of the line of the discussion. Passionate, yet not really adding anything new
  2. "Fund Scrounging"? Sounds like a debate over budgets and who pays what until "deployment"
  3. From what I've read, photon entanglement-based communications still requires that you send packets over a distance. It isn't FTL, as mentioned in p.37 of the ESA doc you linked to.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_teleportation Yes, sadly the establishing of the connection is still slower than FTL, but hey, you need to set yourself some interesting challenges to overcome. I don't think Benjamin Franklin envisioned all the practical uses of lightning, as much as he was simpy interested in understanding the mechanisms behind it
  4. For those interested in FTL communication, a few links. ESA Experiments with Quantum communication and encryption The quest for manipulating entangled photons FTL communication makes no sense if the messages can only be dealt with by non-quantum machinery. Like being stranded on a remote island with a laptop and no power outlet
  5. Try googling for Entangled Photons and University of Vienna They test faster than light communications. They have estalished that it works. They haven't found out why it works yet, but once that hurdle is overcome, there might be some new quantum leaps (pun unintended) on its way in science.
  6. Which is why completely new thinking is required... As long as there are people who think we are limited by the speed of light, we will be limited by it.
  7. Entangled Photons... a computer so fast that you get the result before you execute the program
  8. More deeds here
  9. Start of old thread End of old thread Went shopping for protective motorcycle gear on the Saturday. A bit of a challenge since I use size xxl in just about everyting, from boots to gloves I guess next up is some saddle bags.
  10. I downloaded the demo and tried it out for half an hour... not a bad start Of course, the rest of the game may be crap, but the beginning is fun enough. Luckily my German hasn't gotten too rusty over the years.
  11. Internet archives Sadly, I wasn't aware of forums at the time (hanging around on usenet instead).
  12. Started a new game of EU III, this time as Milan. Conquered most of the italian peninsula and is just waiting for time to pass so Ancona can turn into one of my core provinces (and my bad boy rating go down to reasonable levels again) so I can form the Italian Nation. Then Italy shall rule the world! Picked up War in the Pacific again, having another go at the tutorials. I had started on that previously, but Real Life
  13. "Mine is bigger than yours"... and people wonder why I am condescending on nationalists? Fascinating how a peace prize can create so much conflict. Let me know when we reach the point of circular references (that would be my cue)
  14. Dig Dug was a great game... on the C64 Didn't know it existed on other platforms.
  15. For those of us who like wargames, empire building, management etc. type games, "complex" might (or might not) be synonymous with "level of detail". I.e. how much do you, the player have control over vs. how much does the game streamline away from you. Not the worlds best description and it might only fit my little world, but at least I am feudal king there >_
  16. Why do you think he started cutting off his ears?
  17. Depends on who your intended new target audience is. Do you intend to replace the fan base with every new release? Every third release? Everytime you get a new CEO? Everytime the old fan base reminds you of what created the fan base in the first place? Is it profit maximizing or performance anxiety?
  18. MS WERD + occasional flowcharts usually. Sometimes with a little photoshop/illustrator work over screenshots or drawings. l33t skillz of da designer! No Excel spread sheet? But you guys are like producers and have special Excel powers! Excel can be a dangerous tool in the hands of the wrong people... Wasn't there something about Icewind Dale 2 and missing Armours in the released version of the game?
  19. I can recommend New Zealand. Not that far away either ...otherwise the Mediterranean. Sicily is interesting, as is some of the Greek islands.
  20. There is just no room for True Heroes © in this world anymore...
  21. I've bought a single game there. Not enough to base an opinion on The game was EUIII complete with expansions. I had bought the game without the expansions previously on a disc and the only difference was that some large, unessential intro movies with company logo etc. seems to have been cut to save bandwidth. Decent download speed, giving me the option to save the downloaded install file for backup.
  22. Gorth replied to CoM_Solaufein's topic in Skeeter's Junkyard
Maybe try meditative techniques next time
  23. Ice Age: The Meltdown. Surprisingly funny for a sequel. Not something you take for granted these days.
