Games you are looking forward to
Looks more like GTA with Zombies really.. part of the cool in Carmageddon I think was that it wasn't only running people over, you had to win the race too. Thanks for crushing my dreams I haven't played any of the GTA games though, so I don't know how they compare to Carmageddon

Four Minute Warning
Man, stuff like that brings back memories I suppose those who aren't "children of the mushroom cloud" will think it silly, but there was an absurd kind of comfort in knowing that the world could end any moment, so you better make the best of it

European Union
The EU was one of the reasons to leave Europe behind. When they went from being a "easier to trade, less protectionism" organisation to the wet dreams of eurocrats who wants to turn it into a "United States of Europe", it lost lost its appeal, its transparency and much of its pretense at being "democratic". The bigger a monster you create, the harder a time you will have to control it afterwards. Few governments had the guts to ask their populations what they wanted and those who did, regretted asking the people afterwards. Sort of telling, isn't it?

Dragon Age DLC
Lets just say that Tigranes convinced me *not* to buy Dragon Age (I am quite sure it was unintentional). First off, I don't like DLC and Microtransactions as a business model at all. Reminds me too much of the con men of old. Second, if you have to sign up on some "social" site to get downloadable stuff, including patches for the game proper, I call it quits. Third, looking at the game on the shelf today, before walking away from it, I couldn't help rolling my eyes at the price tag. 110$, it is the most expensive new release I have seen for a very, very long time. I exercise my consumer right to vote with my money. I withheld my vote

What you did today
Not a man of empty threats, huh? Fortunately, I am usually a "fast healer" when running into physical injuries. Now, if I could just do something about that common cold I always end up getting twice a year.

Games you are looking forward to
I've been dying (figuratively speaking) for a good follow up game to the original Carmageddon. I wonder if Zombie Driver fits the bill? Looks like some free roaming is involved, you get to run over pedestrians and ram into things, it even has zombies everywhere

The Music Thread
Merged two music threads before they start multiplying uncontrollably The Mamas and the Papas: "Monday Monday"

What you did today
Considering whether I should stock up on beer in the fridge. Next week looks like it is going to be 37 degrees for most of the days and it isn't even summer yet Need to get my motorcycle to its first service (gone its first 1000km now). Better get in there and book some time tomorrow.

So who's making the soundtrack?
Ooh, that's good. I was wondering if they'd get the same person who made TSL's soundtrack, which would have been good, but to be honest I prefer Deus Ex's soundtrack by far. Mark Griskey. His TSL soundtrack was in a league of its own. I hope Obsidian gets the chance to make use of his talents again some day

Dragon Age story/plot discussion
And that would be enough "Pirate" derailment for one thread. There is nothing funny or witty about piracy. Glorifying idiocy may be funny in the right context, but there is a time and place for everything. I'll happily share some pain with people who encourage or promote piracy in this place, but lets keep the pitch forks and the torches at home until appropriate. Now, if you ladies and gentlemen could be so nice as to not force me to read more of this thread until I manage to find this thing down at the EB games store...

So who's making the soundtrack?
I am going to be very disappointed if there isn't a few "hits of the eighties" in there

Movies you have seen recently
Start of old thread End of old thread I saw part of transformers on tv a short while ago. I'll probably get shot in a dark alley for saying it, but it was too uninteresting to keep watching it until the end. Last movie seen: Le Notti del Terrore (Burial Ground). From a time and place where Zombie movies were meant to be scary, not action comedies >_

*Note to self: Order Blake 7 from Amazon*- Warhammer 40k: Space Marines
TVtropes, of course! That's the best summary I've seen in a very long time "Commander Chenkov of Valhalla routinely abuses the Imperial Guard's reserves to overwhelm the enemy with endless waves of poorly-trained, disposable conscripts. He's also been known to use his troops to clear minefields for tanks and bog enemy units down so that the artillery can shell them, and once executed a million of his own men to build a dam from their bodies. His regiment, the Tundra Wolves, has been refounded more than a dozen times in recent decades due to casualties, and it's rumored that he's killed more of his own men than he has of the enemy. And of course, since this is the Imperium, he's routinely awarded medals and commendations for quickly defeating the enemy with these brutal tactics. " ...he used to lead my Valhallan army- Warhammer 40k: Space Marines
Ah yes, World Eaters... They will slice and dice their opponents, then grab their entrails and strangle them with it and then suck out their eyeballs when they start to pop. That was before they turned bad- Warhammer 40k: Space Marines
If you are lucky, you might find some of the old rule books in bargain bins in second hand book stores. Rogue Trader and the two Realms of Chaos books are especially worth keeping an eye out for. As Floodland said, The Horus Heresy series of novels. My current favourite is actually an art book The Horus Heresy: Collected Visions, which has a surprising amount of background details and stories. Including how Malcador instigated the creation of the Holy Inquisition as his last act before getting sentenced to the chair.- Warhammer 40k: Space Marines
25 years of rulebooks and novels?- Warhammer 40k: Space Marines
A few "logical" (in-setting logic) issues with that. You do not chose to become a space marine, you get picked after proving yourself worthy. You do not retire as a space marine, only in death does duty end. For most intents and purposes, space marines might as well have been aliens. IG might be a better choice for something where you want people to relate to characters and their situation. Doesn't mean that you can't feature the marines... or the titan legions or the adeptus mechanicus, or the adeptus sororitas or other armed forces. It just feels like it might be easier to sell the idea of one or more human protagonists. Like Titus Pullo and Lucius Vorenus in Rome- Windows 7 OEM version
I'll probably end up getting the upgrade retail version for my Vista Ultimate (worst 400$ spent). I considered the OEM version back then, but decided against is, since I wasn't "finished" building my PC at the time.- Warhammer 40k: Space Marines
Colonel Schaefers Last Chancers. Although the "Dirty Dozen" theme is a bit old too. Does it have to be a "War" thing? Plenty of intrigue, corruption, scheming, brutality, exploitation, subversion etc. to take inspiration from. Heck, Blade Runner could have been set in the WH40K universe. I wouldn't mind another dystopian crime/bounty hunter story. Ferret out the threats from deviant cults, corrupt governors, apostates, heretics, mutants, aliens, etc.- Warhammer 40k: Space Marines
If they could at least feature either some beer swilling, bawdy sons of Fenris or some brain eating, blood drinking maniacs from Baal, not the card board marines then- Warhammer 40k: Space Marines
It seems like people are working under the misconception that a WH40K movie/game can only be about the Astartes (Space Marines). Just about everything else in the WH40K universe is more interesting than those.- Experiment rules out a bunch of theories of gravity
So, they missed the 3 photons that stopped by last year and probably wont even look at the delayed one that is due next year. They are getting sloppy... - TV: SG:U
