  1. I've only been playing it for a day, but impressions so far: I've found crates. I've bashed rats. I've got "Do you want to gather your party before venturing forth" messages. I've got a pet (which I named "Elfeater"). I've got laid. I've got my butt kicked by a small "boss" (due to bad preparation on my part) Managed to kick that butt in return on the second fight, with one party member standing (with less than 10hp). I've had to leave loot behind. I don't even think I've seen any groan worthy dialogue yet (unlike Mass Effect, which I found had it in droves during my 30 minute stint on a colleagues xbox360). Only silly thing is the comic book blood spatter which takes some of the "seriousness" out of the game. I think they could have credited Peter Jackson for some of the battle scenes
  2. How many MMO players does it take to replace a water chip?
  3. Global warming is real...
  4. Thanks, yeah that was the issue. I followed the link in the forum post (and dowloaded and intalled the file from MS's website) and the game started nicely. Currently just playing around with character creation, trying out a human noble warrior.
  5. Downloaded and installed the 1.01 patch. Game now adamantly refuses to give me return of investment. yay for first impressions Off to see the official support forums I suppose...
  6. Sorry, I probably got the standard version then, maybe next time It was the only version they had in the EB Games store. Edit: It would probably also have said so on the box if it was anything but standard I assume. Edit2: Redeemed the code and is currently downloading complimentary golem guy. Didn't somebody mention something about having to manually download a 1.01 patch or so somewhere?
  7. Get the Collector's Edition. It will help my cause more How many versions are there? The one I got says on the box it has complimentary golem guy and a dragon armour... for mass effect 2 ?!?
  8. I caved in and bought the game about an hour ago. Currently installing. Can't have that alanschu ends up as 1501 now, can we? I'll stick to that explanation.
  9. A bad dialogue tree?
  10. A bit too much "RTS" for my liking. Lots of nice ideas though. Would have made a nice combat part of a campain game a'la MOO2, if you could change tactics and give orders during the battle.
  11. Last few posts deleted. Lets see if we can keep the discussion less "retarded" gentlemen?
  12. I think there are people out there who are still stuck with resolutions lower than 2560x1600 friend Bokishi. Makes it damn hard to find decent wallpapers sometimes, since most of them are thumbnail sized
  13. Schedules? Schedules?!? You mean they actually take time off?!?!?!? (faints)
  14. Looks more like GTA with Zombies really.. part of the cool in Carmageddon I think was that it wasn't only running people over, you had to win the race too. Thanks for crushing my dreams I haven't played any of the GTA games though, so I don't know how they compare to Carmageddon
  15. Man, stuff like that brings back memories I suppose those who aren't "children of the mushroom cloud" will think it silly, but there was an absurd kind of comfort in knowing that the world could end any moment, so you better make the best of it
  16. The EU was one of the reasons to leave Europe behind. When they went from being a "easier to trade, less protectionism" organisation to the wet dreams of eurocrats who wants to turn it into a "United States of Europe", it lost lost its appeal, its transparency and much of its pretense at being "democratic". The bigger a monster you create, the harder a time you will have to control it afterwards. Few governments had the guts to ask their populations what they wanted and those who did, regretted asking the people afterwards. Sort of telling, isn't it?
  17. Lets just say that Tigranes convinced me *not* to buy Dragon Age (I am quite sure it was unintentional). First off, I don't like DLC and Microtransactions as a business model at all. Reminds me too much of the con men of old. Second, if you have to sign up on some "social" site to get downloadable stuff, including patches for the game proper, I call it quits. Third, looking at the game on the shelf today, before walking away from it, I couldn't help rolling my eyes at the price tag. 110$, it is the most expensive new release I have seen for a very, very long time. I exercise my consumer right to vote with my money. I withheld my vote
  18. Not a man of empty threats, huh? Fortunately, I am usually a "fast healer" when running into physical injuries. Now, if I could just do something about that common cold I always end up getting twice a year.
  19. I've been dying (figuratively speaking) for a good follow up game to the original Carmageddon. I wonder if Zombie Driver fits the bill? Looks like some free roaming is involved, you get to run over pedestrians and ram into things, it even has zombies everywhere
  20. Merged two music threads before they start multiplying uncontrollably The Mamas and the Papas: "Monday Monday"
  21. Considering whether I should stock up on beer in the fridge. Next week looks like it is going to be 37 degrees for most of the days and it isn't even summer yet Need to get my motorcycle to its first service (gone its first 1000km now). Better get in there and book some time tomorrow.
  22. Ooh, that's good. I was wondering if they'd get the same person who made TSL's soundtrack, which would have been good, but to be honest I prefer Deus Ex's soundtrack by far. Mark Griskey. His TSL soundtrack was in a league of its own. I hope Obsidian gets the chance to make use of his talents again some day
  23. And that would be enough "Pirate" derailment for one thread. There is nothing funny or witty about piracy. Glorifying idiocy may be funny in the right context, but there is a time and place for everything. I'll happily share some pain with people who encourage or promote piracy in this place, but lets keep the pitch forks and the torches at home until appropriate. Now, if you ladies and gentlemen could be so nice as to not force me to read more of this thread until I manage to find this thing down at the EB games store...
  24. I am going to be very disappointed if there isn't a few "hits of the eighties" in there
  25. The Sequel >_
