  1. Japanese politics and economic evolution in the period 1905 - 1941?
  2. At home I am currently playing X-Com UFO Defence and Kings Bounty: The Legend. At work, I played Wii bowling. Yes, the company big cheese bought a wii for the office. Quite nice with a decent sound setup and a projector showing it on the big screen
  3. Thread is getting a bit beyond the customary 500 posts... time to reboot. Continued here
  4. Start of old thread End of old thread I've mentioned it a few times before. I've tried ME for all of 30 minutes. Didn't like it. I doubt ME2 is going to be my cup of tea. With that out of the way, those looking forward to it, discuss I haven't actually seen much that's said how the pc differs from the xbox... I mean going by how they handled ME, everything was tweaked up to take advantage of pc hardware more and the control system/HUD was shifted to work better with keyboard & mouse rather then gamepad.. I'd assume there'd be something similar this time around ... but it's just a guess.
  5. I have a feeling that we are talking about the new Episode One and not the "real" episode one (shows my age)? Didn't get to see Avatar on the big screen, but who knows, it might be worth picking up when it appears on blu-ray/dvd.
  6. Aren't those rather poisonous? Yeah, I thought redbacks were so dangerous that if you gave them a colt .45 they'd actually become less deadly. It is not as bad as its reputation. Yes, it is venomous, fatally so if you are unlucky, but it is not an "aggressive" species and seems generally reluctant to leave the safety of its web
  7. Lots of alcohol. Alcohol is said to bring out the true nature of a man, neutering on the other hand...
  8. Went to feed my pet redback with a fresh caught fly. It usually hangs around outside one of my living room windows, but it seems to have left me Ungrateful arachnid.
  9. Sean K Reynolds... that name rings a bell somehow. Wasn't he working for Black Isle at some point in time?!?
  10. Speaking of the final boss battle... I was impressed by the resilience of the templars. Since there was only 12 of them, I expected them to be cannon fodder for the boss, but lo and behold, they managed to keep him occupied, leaving me to mop of the occasional dark spawn and just throw the odd rock or pointy object in his direction to win the game. Heh, who needs dwarves when you've got tanks? >_
  11. Just bought X2: The Threat, Kings Bounty The Legend and Kings Bounty: Armored Princess from Gamersgate. Should keep me occupied for a while
  12. Sounds like we are getting a bit personal again (goes for more than one). I'm closing it since it is getting a bit long and nothing new really seems to have popped up for a while. If there is truly more to ask/discuss, feel free to create a new thread
  13. I am fairly sure Alistair falls into that category. Finding Emo...
  14. I just bought that one, haven't seen it yet. Still waiting for a complete season 4 set (without Razor which I already have) to be released some day. Also, bought season 2 of Sarah Connor Chronicles. I've seen the first 10 or so episodes. Quite addictive, didn't get any sleep this night What an awesome first and a half season so far. Me like
  15. Assuming games with a release date in 2009... My top 1: Europa Universalis III: Heir to the Throne. Honourable mention: Dragon Age A bad year for games
  16. I'd guess that the game sets a variable for "romance initiated" that flips to "on" when you first make a pass at an NPC and that starts the "love triangle" dialogue as soon as you've tried to start more than 1 romance. I don't see why Lel shouldn't be mad at you making a pass a Zev, regardless of his shooting you down, but if the dialogue doesn't account for that, then it probably is a weakness in the writing/scripting. In my previous game, I managed to bring both Zevran and Leliana into my tent (so to speak). First Zevran had my undying love and then towards the end game, something seems to have "reset" a variable somewhere and I could fast forward Lelianas dialogue to the point of sharing sleeping bags (which I did). I suspect it was a bug, but quite amusing anyway.
  17. You *might* just want to hook your hdd's up to somebody elses pc and copy your stuff onto an external usb hdd if you have one, or know somebody who has one you can borrow for a short while. Just in case. If it is just the heat sink that is damaged, then it us usually cheap and easy to replace. Worse if it is part of the mobo heat sink fitting/socket thingies. I can't even remember how those things are attached to the mobo Edit: Gorgon beat me to that last bit.
  18. I buy stuff regularly on the net, so I am fairly sure, yes Quite scary really, that I use my cards often enough that I have memorised the cc numbers and the security codes for my cards
  19. Is that the place where you are supposed to have a permanent "storage" facility for your loot? I cheated a bit and gave myself the same functionality in the basic game. Just sell your stuff to the dwarf merchant in your camp. Console in a bit of money if you need some of your stuff back, voila! Permanent storage chest for Gorth and party
  20. That's not an entirely fair assessment. If you recall, most of the trailers for the first game were cutscenes. Some of those cutscenes weren't even in the full game or misrepresented plot elements. Not saying it was a good idea, but I wouldn't base an assumption that they're refocusing the franchise on an early trailer in this case. I was a latecomer to the first game. Only got interested in it a short while after the "special edition" came out and most of the reputedly endless bugs had been weeded out, so I didn't see a lot of the trailers (The rumours of bugs aplenty made me not interested in the game for a long while) It was just that the narrator in the youtube video sort of kept emphasising those (for me) unimportant aspects as something they put effort and resources into.
  21. Pro Evolution Soccer, I'm guessing. AKA Winning Eleven.
  22. I wanted to buy 50$ worth of the games in the gog.com xmas sale, but after 3 failed attempts to pay with credit card (two different credit cards no less), I gave up on Good old Games. I was very unimpressed by their store software. My and my credit cards went elsewhere and bought the Heir to the Throne expansion for EU III from gamersgate, so that is what I play now.
  23. I would love a sequel to The Witcher, but the linked to youtube movie makes me pause, not to say having a lot of misgivings about the direction it is taking. The cinematics, the flourishes etc. were really all the *unimportant* parts of the first one and it seems like it is the new focus of their efforts. Any more cinematics in crpgs and my breakfast is coming up again
  24. Guilty as charged
