Mass Effect 2 Discussion
Miss out on save games you say? Last I checked, they had over 100 saves there. Thanks, but I think I am just going to play the "vanilla" game first. I went through the prologue and made my way to Omega. I like those dystopian style environments Edit: I don't suppose there is a place I can sell my less than visually pleasing Blood Dragon armour for something useful? I wouldn't be caught dead wearing that one...

Mass Effect 2 Discussion
Curiosity got the better of me, so I broke down and bought this game yesterday (despite being appalled by the quality of the first one). I am going to miss out on "previous saves" of course, but no biggie I suppose. Ye gods the interface is badly designed for PC's

An update on nuclear fusion
Since actual Tokamak reactors are huge, this wouldn't happen. Further, fusion materials are not actually explosive, so would actually happen (if somebody miniaturized a Tokamak and stuck it in a car) would be the car melting as the heat escapes. You need to watch more Hollywood movies, everybody knows that cars explode violently half a second before impact

What you did today
What is a "Waitangi Day"? Do you people just do the Wu-Tang all day? They celebrate the treaty of Waitangi which handed over the land of the Maoris to the English crown in return for English citizenship for the Maori. At least in theory. Problems arose when it turned out that there were differences between the copy written in English and the one translated into Maori. They still argue the technicalities of the treaty today, 170 years later Effectively, it turned all of Kiwidom into an English province and is sort of a national day.

What are You playing now?
He hasn't met the brain sucker in 3 yet I found the Terror missions in X-Com 2 to be among the very hardest encounters overall (having replayed, if not completed all 3 recently after buying them from Gamersgate). X-Com 3 had the best game and combat mechanics only rivalled by JA2

Dante's Inferno
...and I think that is about enough of that. If people has more to contribute about Dantes Inferno, good, if they have more to contribute about their fellow posters, not good. Lets see if people can handle that much freedom of choice [/optimism]

Books
3 actually. Pistol, Bolter and Heavy Bolter (minigun version). Also, no wonder Dan Abnett books are good, he is one of the founding fathers. The storm bolter feels offended by being left out

Books
Stay clear of "Lee Lightener" (sp?). It's not even a real writer, but a synonym for a collaboration between multiple individuals and probably some of the crappiest writing I've ever seen published (the recent space wolf books). The new Sandy Mithcel books are great, as are anything by Dan Abnett. Graham McNeal is a bit hit and miss. His Time of Legend books sucks, but his 40k stuff is Ok. Some of the best books out there are "Only in Death" (it's been at least 25 years since a book gave me goosebumps) and "Legion" (about the Alpha Legion).

Good Old Games
I could argue about alt+enter being well-known amongst the masses, but that's not the point. Yes, you can switch to windowed by alt+enter but you can't change the size of the window that way. 640x480 or smaller is quite small on modern displays and to change that you need to stab the .conf file. I knew how to do that and so do many others who have used dosbox before, but how do you expect the avarage joe to fiqure out how to do that? By finding the dosbox readme? The world is full of people who try to find the any button when some prog asks them to push it! I'm not on some hate campaing against GOG or dosbox, I was just wondering where the practicality is. Thats all You could argue that the average Joe shouldn't be using DosBox unless he/she knows how to manually assign Irq and DMA# as well as Vesa and Glide drivers It would be nice if installers asked a few questions in an install wizard like manner and generated the lines in the .conf file. My own favourite is fullscreen=true fulldouble=false fullresolution=original windowresolution=original output=ddraw Especially output has given a lot of headache because it defaults to "surface"

Is it still possible to buy 32-bit single core processors?
BG&E was released late 2003, so I wouldn't bet on it Ah, so it is a fairly new game Edit: I.e. too new for dos?

Michael Thorton's Twitter feed
It didn't specifically say "Mike Thorton", only "an Alpha Protocol agent". Maybe any of the Obsidianites has been to Paris lately? Edit: "Orientation training sandbox again for second-stage drills. Sandbox stage has a PR evaluator, who tracks our "visible presence" in-mission."... that was two days before Matthews Rories post about new PR agent Edit2: "Not sure who leaked the Beta Protocol news, superiors are classifying it under Operation: Constantinople. Not Istanbul. Constantinople. " Rumour thread

You can run Beyond Good and Evil in DosBox? I don't know Beyond Good and Evil Still, I managed to get everything from Master of Orion 2 to the original Tomb Raider to run, so who knows?
