Assuming games with a release date in 2009... My top 1: Europa Universalis III: Heir to the Throne. Honourable mention: Dragon Age A bad year for games
-
I'd guess that the game sets a variable for "romance initiated" that flips to "on" when you first make a pass at an NPC and that starts the "love triangle" dialogue as soon as you've tried to start more than 1 romance. I don't see why Lel shouldn't be mad at you making a pass a Zev, regardless of his shooting you down, but if the dialogue doesn't account for that, then it probably is a weakness in the writing/scripting. In my previous game, I managed to bring both Zevran and Leliana into my tent (so to speak). First Zevran had my undying love and then towards the end game, something seems to have "reset" a variable somewhere and I could fast forward Lelianas dialogue to the point of sharing sleeping bags (which I did). I suspect it was a bug, but quite amusing anyway.

You *might* just want to hook your hdd's up to somebody elses pc and copy your stuff onto an external usb hdd if you have one, or know somebody who has one you can borrow for a short while. Just in case. If it is just the heat sink that is damaged, then it us usually cheap and easy to replace. Worse if it is part of the mobo heat sink fitting/socket thingies. I can't even remember how those things are attached to the mobo Edit: Gorgon beat me to that last bit.

I buy stuff regularly on the net, so I am fairly sure, yes Quite scary really, that I use my cards often enough that I have memorised the cc numbers and the security codes for my cards

Is that the place where you are supposed to have a permanent "storage" facility for your loot? I cheated a bit and gave myself the same functionality in the basic game. Just sell your stuff to the dwarf merchant in your camp. Console in a bit of money if you need some of your stuff back, voila! Permanent storage chest for Gorth and party

That's not an entirely fair assessment. If you recall, most of the trailers for the first game were cutscenes. Some of those cutscenes weren't even in the full game or misrepresented plot elements. Not saying it was a good idea, but I wouldn't base an assumption that they're refocusing the franchise on an early trailer in this case. I was a latecomer to the first game. Only got interested in it a short while after the "special edition" came out and most of the reputedly endless bugs had been weeded out, so I didn't see a lot of the trailers (The rumours of bugs aplenty made me not interested in the game for a long while) It was just that the narrator in the youtube video sort of kept emphasising those (for me) unimportant aspects as something they put effort and resources into.

Pro Evolution Soccer, I'm guessing. AKA Winning Eleven.

I wanted to buy 50$ worth of the games in the gog.com xmas sale, but after 3 failed attempts to pay with credit card (two different credit cards no less), I gave up on Good old Games. I was very unimpressed by their store software. My and my credit cards went elsewhere and bought the Heir to the Throne expansion for EU III from gamersgate, so that is what I play now.

I would love a sequel to The Witcher, but the linked to youtube movie makes me pause, not to say having a lot of misgivings about the direction it is taking. The cinematics, the flourishes etc. were really all the *unimportant* parts of the first one and it seems like it is the new focus of their efforts. Any more cinematics in crpgs and my breakfast is coming up again

Guilty as charged

Yeah, same store that sells the super regulated, hard to get, lyrium to anyone who waltzes in from the street The setting doesn't really appeal to me. It just never 'clicked' in my mind. Most of my companions area a bit on the two dimensional side too, making Dog, Sten and Zevran my favourites. Some of the things in the game that do shine are those little details that you notice and often forget afterwards, like the extras in a movie. Some of the non-joinable npcs are just priceless, like Dagna who wants to study the theory of magic or the wonderful duo (Herren and Wade) in Wades Emporium. I guess "discovery" is the main appeal for me in the game

Can't you just download the demo and try? Should be a good indicator whether the full version will run.

There are a some inconsistencies in the game... as an apprentice I couldn't leave the darn tower short of jumping out the second floor window. Yet, no sooner am I out on a "special mission" and what happens? I get tasked with handing out termination notices to a handful of mages apprentices who has nothing better to do than running around in the country side and not a templar in sight. Decided that I had it with Andraste. Andraste this, Andraste that, Andraste everywhere. Being utterly fed up with hearing about Andraste and the Maker all the bloody time, I decided to side with the reavers. Now, if I just had the option to pee in the urn too At least it gave me the last specialisation for my collection. Next game I think am going to play a reaver. Lets see if we can't make the Maker shiver in his boots. Edit: Wynne

Jean Reno I haven't seen a lot of his movies, but what I have seen has been outstanding.

Why not tell her more or less what you said here? Like things didn't go quite as intended and the outside interuptions made you nervous. How about a second date and invite her to the movies or some such. Remember to bring a box of filled chocolates.

Makes you wonder how they get through airport security

Oh, thats what you needed the console for. I just got to that spot too. Not even provoking them by casting a few spells on them could convince them to open the &^%$# gates. Either you have to do something completely different (and non obvious) as a low born dwarf, or you are just screwed. I think I'll retire this game for now and dedicate myself to EUIII.
-
Did you give your main game file the -enabledeveloperconsole option? I.e. not the game launcher, but the main game file daorigins.exe. I needed to create a new desktop shortcut to the main file in order to give it the startup paramter.
-
Is the console supposed to be "visible"? Read somewhere (while browsing around for mods), that the console isn't visible, so your typing better be good. Playing around with my casteless rogue. Went for the ranger, some dual wielding, a bit of archery, especially arrow of slaying, summoning animal companions etc. That ranger specialisation seems somewhat overpowered compared to the other rogue specialisations, those animal summons are not for the whimpy  Edit: Just tried it out. I can't see it, but it works. Just gave myself 1000 gold pieces (some absurdly large number of copper coins).

Thread getting a bit long. More gaming here
-
Start of old thread End of old thread Playing Europa Universalis III a bit. Just bought the new Heir to the Throne expansion. Yay for me When taking a break from EUIII, I play a bit on my Dragon Age game, progressing my casteless dwarven rogue.
-
I have exactly one mod installed. A nice little thing that lets you chose your party members stats/talents when they first join your party. It doesn't fiddle with specialisations or starting levels, just leaves all points unassigned. In my current thief game, I have Wynne focusing on spirit magic and Morrigan on entropy magic. I actually wanted to focus myself on entropy magic, but I can't be bothered to play the game as a mage again

AvP banned in Australia because the developer refuses to censor it

And then smuggle it to you in a cake? Aren't cakes traditionally used for smuggling files? I know, bad pun. Shouldn't do this stuff the morning after our xmas function. -
Will Obsidian end up with another Jefferson?

What I wouldn't give for a well made Warhammer (fantasy or 40k, take your pick) crpg...
