Flew to Melbourne yesterday for a meeting that turned out to be shorter than planned. A couple of colleagues and I then spent the afternoon testing the beers someplace close to a riverfront (I think). Several beers later it was time to fly home again (they served wine on the plane), so I felt in a strange enlightened mood when I got home

Almost as good (bad) as when you beat the snot out of the main villain, having him crawling on his knees, bleeding satisfactorily to death before you eyes, just to have the game tell you that you have to stop fighting since you don't have a chance of winning and force you to come back another day. Maybe not as bad as poorly designed spawn points, but still. Please, please, let there not be such "fake" boss fights?

Painkiller, 110% action 0% brains. Good fun I've been thinking about picking up Dark Messiah (heard of a lot of positive responses to the action part of it), but I've only found it bundled with Resident Evil 4 in a "dual pack" so far.

Start of old thread End of old thread I've mentioned it a few times before. I've tried ME for all of 30 minutes. Didn't like it. I doubt ME2 is going to be my cup of tea. With that out of the way, those looking forward to it, discuss I haven't actually seen much that's said how the pc differs from the xbox... I mean going by how they handled ME, everything was tweaked up to take advantage of pc hardware more and the control system/HUD was shifted to work better with keyboard & mouse rather then gamepad.. I'd assume there'd be something similar this time around ... but it's just a guess.

I have a feeling that we are talking about the new Episode One and not the "real" episode one (shows my age)? Didn't get to see Avatar on the big screen, but who knows, it might be worth picking up when it appears on blu-ray/dvd.

Aren't those rather poisonous? Yeah, I thought redbacks were so dangerous that if you gave them a colt .45 they'd actually become less deadly. It is not as bad as its reputation. Yes, it is venomous, fatally so if you are unlucky, but it is not an "aggressive" species and seems generally reluctant to leave the safety of its web

Speaking of the final boss battle... I was impressed by the resilience of the templars. Since there was only 12 of them, I expected them to be cannon fodder for the boss, but lo and behold, they managed to keep him occupied, leaving me to mop of the occasional dark spawn and just throw the odd rock or pointy object in his direction to win the game. Heh, who needs dwarves when you've got tanks? >_

Just bought X2: The Threat, Kings Bounty The Legend and Kings Bounty: Armored Princess from Gamersgate. Should keep me occupied for a while

I just bought that one, haven't seen it yet. Still waiting for a complete season 4 set (without Razor which I already have) to be released some day. Also, bought season 2 of Sarah Connor Chronicles. I'd guess that the game sets a variable for "romance initiated" that flips to "on" when you first make a pass at an NPC and that starts the "love triangle" dialogue as soon as you've tried to start more than 1 romance. I don't see why Lel shouldn't be mad at you making a pass a Zev, regardless of his shooting you down, but if the dialogue doesn't account for that, then it probably is a weakness in the writing/scripting. In my previous game, I managed to bring both Zevran and Leliana into my tent (so to speak). First Zevran had my undying love and then towards the end game, something seems to have "reset" a variable somewhere and I could fast forward Lelianas dialogue to the point of sharing sleeping bags (which I did). I suspect it was a bug, but quite amusing anyway.

You *might* just want to hook your hdd's up to somebody elses pc and copy your stuff onto an external usb hdd if you have one, or know somebody who has one you can borrow for a short while. Just in case. If it is just the heat sink that is damaged, then it us usually cheap and easy to replace. Worse if it is part of the mobo heat sink fitting/socket thingies. I can't even remember how those things are attached to the mobo Edit: Gorgon beat me to that last bit.
