  1. This one has English subtitles (if selected on the video)... Edit: Rather than double post....
  2. Usually it's Disney that gets an earful for "white washing" their characters... but it's less about race and more about cultural appropriation in general, isn't it? How dare you take something I consider "MY" culture and have it being portrayed by somebody who doesn't appear to be like me. Never mind it wasn't my culture to begin with, but I would like to believe that. Particularly hilarious in this case, because the Egyptians , as I mentioned in my first post, especially around 30BC were not really related to Arabs (which is today is part of the 90% majority of the current population living in Egypt, 10% being Kopts or some such, descendants of the pre-Arab/Greek population. I remember similar conversations, in a somewhat more civilized way, taking place in New Zealand when Pakehas were performing the Haka. A bit of outrage, lots of mocking. Personally I find it worse that Rings of Power portrays Galadriel as a low-brow thug rather than classy Noldor nobility Edit: Not sure if the correct form is Noldor or Noldo when used in this context
  3. Normally it's the cold that makes it shrivel...
  4. Yeah, that was a bit funny. Not even ancient, just 600-800 years ago, neither Egypt nor Libya were Arab. They all came with the recent Arab invasions and conquests
  5. Welcome back... How's life up there in the far North, still tumultuous?
  6. I suppose this is mostly of interest to people who are "my generation" and/or Danish... https://www.bbc.com/travel/article/20230501-regan-vest-inside-denmarks-secret-nuclear-bunker Because I grew up in a world, where we from early school age were taught where the nearest bomb shelter was and always were made aware of it all the way up until my early 30's 200 rooms (living and workspace), intended to house 350 people in case of nuclear war This one was one of (assumed) two bunker systems for the Danish government in case of nuclear war. Queen Margarethe II's "room" (a tiny cell) was the VIP room because it had carpets on the concrete floor I say assumed, as there are rumors of a REGAN east bunker, but that one has never been confirmed to exist. 5000+ square meters, 50+ meters under the ground and the entrance from the rather unassuming, hard to spot surface entrance leads you on a 300m slope downwards to the bunker proper. Open for public visitors in small, organized groups.
  7. Azdeus lives in Sweden... when the ice starts melting, it's time to switch on the A/C
  8. It's not quite out yet, but @BruceVC is going to love the next honest government ads... taking on the Reserve Bank of Australia (it was originally supposed to be about the state of affairs in Canada, but that's postponed until later) Will post it here when it shows up
  9. Reminds me of this one...
  10. The sad thing is, at the moment, it wouldn't surprise me at all if that is the current Russian way of thinking. Throw more bodies at the problem and the problem goes away.
  11. Hmmm... so if they throw a million man at it, they would end up somewhere 300km west of Kyiv?
  12. She actually did... being the pro she is, she just continued very fast past that "slip of the tongue"
  13. Ask ChatGPT about Mudcrabs (ugly creatures)
  14. Yeah, that pipeline is dead in the water alright Just too many viable options with no hard proof at the moment. Guessing is fun of course, but anything short of live underwater video footage of the act itself (or an official confession) will always have the stigma of being government tampered evidence associated with it
  15. Something close to an 80's "Cold War Anthem'... a bit of German pop music. She modified the ending a bit here, as against all odds, the world didn't go out in the expected global firestorm (followed by a few centuries of nuclear winter)
  16. I could put on my tinfoil hat and suggest it was a renegade Russian commander blowing it up (whatshisname leader/owner of Wagner?), in order to escalate the confrontation? As said, entering tinfoil area. It could end up like the JFK assassination with an official version and 117 alternative versions of various degrees of plausibility.
  17. Quoting the original Danish newspaper and then translated by me... "Det tyske medie T-Online og open source intelligence-analytikeren Oliver Alexander har tidligere beskrevet, at specialfartøjet SS-750 var et af i alt seks russiske flådefartøjer, der kan have været i området i dagene op til sprængningen af rørledningerne. Det baserede de blandt andet på oplysninger fra anonyme kilder og satellitbilleder, der viste, at SS-750 havde forladt havnen i Kaliningrad samtidig med blandt andre fartøjerne Aleksandr Frolov og SB-123." The German media T-Online and open source intelligence analyst mentioned previously, that special vessel SS-750 was one of six Russian naval units in the area in the days preceding the blowing up of the pipeline. It's based on anonymous sources and satellite pictures show SS-750 having left its berth in Kaliningrad together with the vessels Aleksandr Frolov and SB-123 -- "Som Information tidligere har beskrevet, var det tydeligt på reaktionen fra flere landes militære enheder, at der skete noget mistænkeligt omkring den 21.-22. september 2022 i området øst for Bornholm. Inden for få timer sendte både dansk, svensk og tysk forsvar fartøjer til området, der også blev patruljeret af overvågningsfly fra både Sverige og Polen. Yderligere befandt der sig også amerikanske fartøjer i nærheden, ligesom en amerikansk overvågningshelikopter var i luften over Østersøen." As Information (the Danish newspaper) mentioned earlier, it was obvious from the response of several countries naval units, that something was going down (pun unintended) during the 21-22 September 2022 in the area east of Bornholm. Within hours, Danish, Swedish and German naval units were in the area, as well as surveillance planes from Sweden and Poland. In addition, US Navy vessels and helicopters were in the area. /edit: The Danish military did not release any information about the the specific US Navy vessels/helicopters spotted operating in that area on 21-22 September. The article doesn't mention if they refused or simply weren't asked Provided as a courtesy for our Danish challenged forumites.
  18. For some reason, watching internet "debates" make me stop and appreciate this one even more... Edit: It's about 2 minutes and worth it for the laugh when recognizing certain patterns
  19. DeSantis would fight to make Flat Earth as mandatory curriculum and ban Darwin from the classrooms if it gave him more votes (which it could in Florida)... He'll probably spend the rest of his political life fighting literacy and enlightenment to appease his chosen followers. Doesn't mean that anything he says is to be ignored, as it should serve as a warning of what is wrong some communities. Edit: I.e. somewhere, somehow, something is very, very wrong... Edit: Insert picture of Don Quixote fighting windmills here
  20. From what I've seen being attributed to her the last 24 months (quotes), that is probably no state secret. I find it worrying that anyone actually listens to her (and by extension justifies her existence in the media landscape).
  21. Actually, there is a third option... both are right (both the mathematics and the participants in a debate). (complex numbers can give you some really oddball looking results when adding the imaginary component to the equation) Like arguing whether an object is round or green... sometimes both are right, even though they can't see past their own narrow perspective and close off their mind to additional information. 'Or' being the problem, as neither can accept 'and' in its place.
  22. Awww.... he pulled a "government" on you and told you what you wanted to hear
  23. Still chugging my way through Mass Effect 1 (from the legendary edition). Driving around in the MAKO still feels like a chore, the side missions you have to do there being a bit "samey". Find merc/criminal/warlord base and kill goons, scan some object and do the mind numbingly boring mini game (luckily I have a small stock pile of omni gel now, so I can auto solve the more tedious ones). I've only played ME1 once before, so I don't remember all the little side stories, which I guess is a plus. Exploring the Citadel was fun as was all the politicking and lobbying going on in various circles there. Combat is still the most fun in any of the 3 games IMHO. Probably helped by being a slightly less linear corridor shooter. Two things I miss in the first game though... Garrus polishing his big cannon 24/7 and my fish tank
