  1. That sounds like a bad case of polonium poisoning... time to stay away from windows (and upper floors in general)? Last step before Belarus "comes home"?
  2. That's what you get when you fight on the side of The Confederates?
  3. I completely forgot the legendary editions now have built in "photo mode" features. Just a test pic, I obviously need to manually use the hide ui key before hitting the the take a picture buttom. Very classy Miranda, following me into the boys room (I hope those Turian guys aren't shy)...
  4. Yeah, "copycat killers" probably have an entire library section of their own. An old and well documented phenomena unfortunately, once somebody else gets fame and/or media exposure, they lose their inhibitions and decide they can do it too... (it's like some barrier of entry suddenly gets lowered significantly)
  5. Completed Mass Effect 1 (legendary edition)... just some thoughts rather than a coherent recap: World building felt great The story felt... meh. Not what sold me on the game. Combat is for me still the best in any of the 3 games for one reason alone, it feels like you have 3 dimensions. I learnt one lesson, if I ever play it again, I need to remap the 'g' key for grenades, because I was always out of grenades from accidentally hitting 'g' when i wanted to holster weapons ('h' key) Companions were... ok? Alenko grated way less on my nerves this time around than he did when I played it originally. Didn't bother with any of the "romances". None of the npc's gave me any warm and fuzzy feelings. Mostly brought Garrus/Wrex for combat efficiency and Tali for her electronics/decryption skills (so I could loot crates). Took great pleasure in taking down the secondary villains in the game, which were mostly corporations with too little government oversight (ExoGeni, Binary Helix, Cerberus etc.) Loved the ominous feel that Sovereign exuded. It felt like a really enigmatic opponent. The only thing I hated more than the decryption minigame was the mako driving. it felt like what it is... a frustrating time sink (as did the mini games, but at least you could spend a bit of omni-gel to cut corners there) edit: Just started on ME2... did the intro comic rather than importing the save, as I wanted to play this game with Udina as the council lead and Ashley as the survivor on Ilos...
  6. 15 minutes of legalese, Greek tragedy, humour, licensing, distribution rights, history, movie related, tv series related, video game related... you name it. Couldn't find a home for it, so in weird and interesting it goes
  7. I wonder if that's available in Australia...
  8. If it flies considerably faster than any intercepting missile, math says it's it will outrun the intercepting missile. But if you can track it fast enough and hit it at an angle (literally intercepting it), then yes. It's just not something the Russians imagined air defense missiles would be able to. I.e. track it's movement and change its own course fast enough to hit it somewhere on its flight path.
  9. I suspect you ended up at the wrong Obsidian... this is the game developer, the one you're looking for is most likely at https://obsidian.md/
  10. Stop that, it was entirely beneficial for the islanders to get exposed to some overseas cultures. Without my ancestors, they wouldn't have had a proper language, but still using that mix of grunting sounds and Latin they were using, not to mention teaching them some really important life skills like warfare and beer drinking! Don't get me started on the spiritual side of things, teaching those heathens some proper gods to worship, like Odin and Thor, instead of kneeling down before dumb rocks, worshiping tree stubs and praying to the sun
  11. It’s spreading… not a school shooting though, but a mass shooting still https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-65490418
  12. @LadyCrimson oh wow... that brings back early childhood memories That reminds of this one, from before even I was born! (they played it a lot on the radio long before I became a teenager)
  13. This one has English subtitles (if selected on the video)... Edit: Rather than double post....
  14. Usually it's Disney that gets an earful for "white washing" their characters... but it's less about race and more about cultural appropriation in general, isn't it? How dare you take something I consider "MY" culture and have it being portrayed by somebody who doesn't appear to be like me. Never mind it wasn't my culture to begin with, but I would like to believe that. Particularly hilarious in this case, because the Egyptians , as I mentioned in my first post, especially around 30BC were not really related to Arabs (which is today is part of the 90% majority of the current population living in Egypt, 10% being Kopts or some such, descendants of the pre-Arab/Greek population. I remember similar conversations, in a somewhat more civilized way, taking place in New Zealand when Pakehas were performing the Haka. A bit of outrage, lots of mocking. Personally I find it worse that Rings of Power portrays Galadriel as a low-brow thug rather than classy Noldor nobility Edit: Not sure if the correct form is Noldor or Noldo when used in this context
  15. Normally it's the cold that makes it shrivel...
  16. Yeah, that was a bit funny. Not even ancient, just 600-800 years ago, neither Egypt nor Libya were Arab. They all came with the recent Arab invasions and conquests
  17. Welcome back... How's life up there in the far North, still tumultuous?
  18. I suppose this is mostly of interest to people who are "my generation" and/or Danish... https://www.bbc.com/travel/article/20230501-regan-vest-inside-denmarks-secret-nuclear-bunker Because I grew up in a world, where we from early school age were taught where the nearest bomb shelter was and always were made aware of it all the way up until my early 30's 200 rooms (living and workspace), intended to house 350 people in case of nuclear war This one was one of (assumed) two bunker systems for the Danish government in case of nuclear war. Queen Margarethe II's "room" (a tiny cell) was the VIP room because it had carpets on the concrete floor I say assumed, as there are rumors of a REGAN east bunker, but that one has never been confirmed to exist. 5000+ square meters, 50+ meters under the ground and the entrance from the rather unassuming, hard to spot surface entrance leads you on a 300m slope downwards to the bunker proper. Open for public visitors in small, organized groups.
  19. Azdeus lives in Sweden... when the ice starts melting, it's time to switch on the A/C
  20. It's not quite out yet, but @BruceVC is going to love the next honest government ads... taking on the Reserve Bank of Australia (it was originally supposed to be about the state of affairs in Canada, but that's postponed until later) Will post it here when it shows up
  21. Reminds me of this one...
