It was probably a deliberate design decision, to avoid people getting fed up with yet another lengthy light saber battle, having already seen plenty of that in the movie. So the goblin shaman turns into Kermit the Ninja frog, and provides a bit of comic relief. At least it was unexpected (for me anyway). Appropriate for the situation or not, I like it when people at least try to add a little variety. -

Who were your favorite characters in KotOR?

Most interesting companions would be Carth, Jolee and Mission because of their story and dialogues, most useful companions would be any two jedi for combat prowess, most fun companions would be Hk-47 (when restoring memories) and Bastila (at least if you were male and flirting with her) Canderous actually turned out to be a killer melee fighter, dual-wielding some nasty blades. A shame that he turned all soft in the end. Least interesting, the walking carpet and the mobile drinks tray Just my experience from playing 3 times through (1 nice male scout, 1 bad male scoundrel and 1 nice female soldier to check out alternate dialogues). Will probably play it through once more as bad guy, as it was more challenging. Edit: Oops, forgot Juhani, never figured that one out. Was she actually hitting on my female character ??? :ph34r: -
Which is kind of ironic, Atari being the "Grand Old" console game maker One wonders how much weight a company like Atari puts on an asset like Goodwill, even if the actual unit sales met expectations (probably due to brand recognition). If the title did seem to receive some flak and moderate reviews, it might require more marketing to sell the next product to the same market ? Just curious. Especially since I'm trying to keep an open mind in my guessing both publisher and title for Delaware. Nothing seems certain yet, not even that it will be announced at E3

I didn't mean to imply that Atari has given up on D&D crpgs (too much $ involved), only that they might try another developer for the next game.

I think it was simply assumed when Bioware mentioned (on a press release on their site) that they get more offers from publishers than they can handle, and that they gave one of these to Obsidian. This was shortly after KotOR came out, I think. Ahh, I see So it might have something to do with the timing of the press release, while everybody was having Kotor on their mind. Isn't the human brain a funny thing ? Seriously though, Bioware have had a hand in most of the commercially successful crpgs the last 6-7 years, most of which (BG/NWN IP's) now have Atari as publisher. Does anybody know if the Lucas site/boards ever mentioned *anything* about a sequel ?

Nice to see, that I'm not the only one who loved IWD, IWD2 even more so (and thats from a Fallout fanboy). I'll look at a barrel the same way again, without wondering whether or not It looks "Smug". If people don't appreciate the humour of the game, their loss. I giggled loudly when my priest of Bane gave a motivating speach to the milita Lets see, what do we know or can at least reasonably assume: Kotor2 will be made by somebody ($) BG3 will be made by somebody ($) Somebody is going to slap the Fallout3 tag on some game ($) Bioware is currently fed up with other peoples IP, but working on some pc game (Jade Empire?) Interplay doesn't do PC games in the immediate future (without influence) Atari has PR representatives that get "silenced" for mentioning BG3/NWN2 (owns interesting licenses, burnt their hands on Troika and crpgs) Feel free to add to the list, an interesting puzzle. What I *would* like to know is, where did the Kotor2/Obsidian rumour originate from ? Never seen anything even "semi-official". The only press releases so far suggested that there was a thing going between Bioware and Obsidian, which somebody here (can't remember who) tried to downplay. Has anybody here ever seen anything to actually suggest that it's Kotor2, or does everybody assume that it is so because "everybody else" think it is so ? Kind of like a mob mentality when people start thinking collectively

I still prefer my favourite conspiracy theory, that they were working on BG3 for Atari, and now can't announce it because the license is/was disputed and Atari lost

I suppose we aren't even allowed to know who the publishers are? In some cases, the name of the publisher would either be a giveaway of the game title. or at least narrowing it down to more credible rumours. Example. if the publisher is Lucas, no bonuspoints for guessing Kotor2. If the publisher is Atari, you could narrow it down to 2-3 titles which would be sequels to popular brands (BG, NWN etc.) or if none of the above, it would ruin the diversion that lets people guess wildly (and wrongly) on the name of the game that is Delaware. Once the name is revealed, watch this space for speculations on why it was necessary to keep it secret

*Raising hand* Been there, done that for 18 years: Comal 80, Pascal, Delphi, Gnu C, Gnu C++ (g++), Smalltalk, Forth, 10+ differenct basic dialects, 8/16/32 bit asm, 4th gen. platforms, Proprietary stuff on mainframes, Modula 2, html, xml, asp, logo, fortran, bash, perl, lisp etc. Can't remember having done Cobol though... weird These days I'm mostly doing design and prototyping though.

Finishing Van Buren is a nice dream... exactly that, a nice dream. So is raising the Titanic, a nice dream, but only that. I probably cry more tears for Jefferson though, as I know preciously little about the content and game mechanics of Van Buren, so It's only the dream of whatever my imagination fills in the blanks with in a possible Fallout 3, that's giving me moist eyes. *sniff*

Sounds like you should try Rune instead of crpg's. It's a very good FPS (First Person Slasher) with sword and axe combat. Weapons can be wielded or thrown. Bonuses for chopped off heads and limbs, and severed limbs can be wielded as clubs (I tried beating an opponent to death with his own arm once) :D
