What would you do if you had unlimited time and money? Supposedly this is a good question to ask yourself when you're trying to figure out what your purpose in life is. So I'm curious as to what your answer are. C'mon, give it some thought. You might get bored of playing video games 24/7 after a while;)

I think +6 accuracy on a weapon is worth it for any character (except perhaps for a pure spell caster). But yes, it's annoying when you find a nice weapon that you're not specialized in. Still, you have 6 party members. If you decide in advance, and give everyone a different specialization, you should be able to cover most of the weapon types.

I think dumping intellect is fair enough, considering the build you're going for. It just effects a few ability durations. (So try to avoid those abilities when leveling up) The 6 constitution seems a little risky though. In a situation where they get around your tank, he might go down fast. Overall: I don't think a paladin will ever match a rogue for DPS, but it sounds playable enough.

combat speed etc
Heijoushin replied to lordkim's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I don't think there is. If the pace is a problem, can't you just pause to issue orders? -
Ha, those pwgra are lethal! Almost finished me off during my iron-man playthrough. Don't worry, I think it's normal. Just avoid them until you level up a bit. Then you come back for revenge. I don't see anything inherently wrong with your party. Though a wizard or rogue might add a little more attacking power.

I do think that we should aim to "think objectively", and not add labels based on our values. For example, if you see a guy drinking a lot, you don't have to label him a "drunkard" or a "loser". Just say "He is drinking a lot" and leave it at that. However, that's an ideal to aim for. We're never going to be able to eliminate labels and stereotypes completely because the human mind needs them to understand things. We don't have enough mind capacity to properly understand every single human being, so we create labels and stereotypes to make sense of all the data.

I'm afraid I'm not enjoying Fallout 4 nearly as much as I did 3. I'm not sure why. The writing seems to be okay. I think it's the combat system? And the endless problems with weight limitations? Anyway, it's okay, but I'm regretting paying 70 bucks for it.

Bitching on this forum
Heijoushin replied to brindle88's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Well... we have the occasional tiff here, but really I think that this forum is rather mature and reasonable compared to some other spots in cyber space. Anyway, I'll try to be nice. But I think the problem is when you're having a bad day, and decide to do a little browsing... -
Vancian magic
Heijoushin replied to haveahappy's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
First time I've ever heard the term "Vancian" magic system... Anyway, my 2 cents: Yes, all the sleeping just to replenish spells isn't ideal. When I played an all-fighter party, it felt really smooth because I barely had to sleep at all. But what's the alternative? An MP magic system? You still have to sleep to recover MP. I think the problem (if there is one) is not the system, but the lack of "utility" spells. Every spell is just another way to kill something, which IMHO isn't very interesting. I would like wizards to have some other tricks up their sleeves (like in the ultima series). -
Pretty much agree with both of your points. In the battery, they start teleporting your people all over the place. Sometimes you don't even realize what's happened until you try to give the character an order and release he's on the other side of the map. Really annoying stuff. And the ghost wail that paralyses your whole party is really punishing depending on your build and level.

Why can we loot the NPCs?
Heijoushin replied to Kilburn's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
... They can't say those things, because people are dead when they get looted? I think I'm not understanding your point... -
New companions interactions?
Heijoushin replied to SkySlam's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Hello SkySlam. Party members from the White March do interact with vanilla game content (though not to a huge degree) And as far as we know, there will be a new barbarian party member coming with part 2.- 1 reply

Food is overpowered, nerf food
Heijoushin replied to Kilburn's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Food is a hassle to eat before each fight. If there weren't good bonus', I don't think people would bother. Then again, real soldiers do fight a hell of a lot better when well fed so... -
I know what you mean. I confess that I'm big on asthetics when I play an RPG, and I also found that for one or two races, there weren't any cool looking faces. Thus, I didn't really use those races. Dwarves yes, but also Godlike were a disappointment for me. All that weird stuff on their heads looks silly. Sure, when you start playing, you don't really see much but... it's also on my wish list for POE2.

Hi Qistina. I can understand how it must be frustrating that people criticize your religion without even understanding it. However, please don't put all western people into a box. How many guys did they do this "experiment" on? 10? 20? Not enough to judge all western people I'll wager. When you say "All western people are XYZ", it's no different from someone else saying "All muslims are XYZ".

As others have said: the beginning is the most difficult. There are some really difficult random encounters and tough (for a level 1-5 character) quests. Once you've gotten past the initial "hump" and start picking up speed, then nothing should stop a good party. Until then, making a few extra adventurers (via the taverns) can help balance the odds. I'm not a big fan of expert mode. It's more like "turn off convenient features" mode.

Yep, got burned that way. Tried for roaming Banshees but forgot no AA there so wasn't a stunner. Lancie was good, even if Alarak was a bit too edgy at times. All in all, was ok. Epilogue was some BS, but I did feel a bit down that the saga is done. Metzen still sucks, though I've looked around on the official forums, and surprisingly, Alarak seems to have quite a few fans. I suppose he was refreshing compared to the rest of the Protoss characters, but I'm not wild about him. It's like... apparently Dark Templar weren't dark and edgy enough, so we needed an even darker and edger protoss faction. Alarak looks and acts like a Disney Sith Lord. Because... evil characters must wear black and red, and insult everyone to their faces.

Longwatch--Alpine Dragon

Interesting, I've never been able to talk that dragon out of slaughtering me. So you just need 17 resolve? -
Why hatchets?
Heijoushin replied to Heijoushin's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Yup, rules. Every good magic system in fantasy has rules. Whether it's MP points, or a limited amount of spells per day or whatever. You need some kind of limitation or else your mages will be gods who can do anything. So magic itself isn't realistic. Yet still it works with rules. Also, unless otherwise stated, we assume that most things in a fantasy world work the same way as in the real world. If it isn't specifically stated that, in this world, hatchets are all blessed with super defensive power, then we must assume that they work the same as hatchets in our world. Yes and if they work the same as in our world, there really was no reason to challenge how a Hatchet can Deflect, right? lol You obviously disagree, but not because you have a grand view of rules/logic/realism/consistency... but because you just hate them Hatchets! You got me. Like I said in the OP, if you want to build a super defensive character, a "hatchet-wielding knight" sounds ridiculous
