  1. I've long since given up on measuring games in gameplay hours. I spend so much time at work (most of which entails me waiting for tests to finish running and therefore me ending up on the forums) that I really only have one, maybe two, days a week I can invest any time to play. At best I can around eight hours a week into a game. So, any game I play is going to take me months, and I'm much more selective. That said, I have to measure my gameplay in how many months it'll take me. And boy do I take my time with games. I only finished New Vegas fully a couple months ago. I'm probably still under halfway through Skyrim's content. Based on BAdler's allusions to game length/content, I suspect I'll be playing PoE, at a minimum, until the next Fallout comes out. Sooooo, my guess is the game will take 8-14 months to complete.
  2. I can't imagine they wouldn't. The beta bugs sub-forum can barely contain Sensuki as it is. I endorse the idea of a bugs forum. I think it would help prevent megathreaditis.
  3. I would 100% play a ranger if I had a python companion named Mandingo. That said, I do intend to play a sword-and-board ranger named Robb with his wolf companion Grey Wind. Admittedly, I haven't played the rangers since the dynamic has been changed up, but I'll probably still try to make it work. Altho my first play through will still be with a Paladin, unless they don't get un-nerfed in which case I might have to go with a monk.
  4. No. Um. I feel like retelling the story of going to Obsidian after the Kickstarter. Because that was kind of the case. You totally should. I missed that story. Also, if you met Josh Sawyer, do you think he's open to adopting a son in his mid-20's?
  5. I won't play fallout 4 unless it has horses. And mounted combat. And a playable horse race. I want to be a horse wielding a minigun riding another horse into combat. Anything else is stupid. <- Fact
  6. Interesting you should say that. We've had quite a few thread discussions about PoE's Engagement mechanic. Yet not once has Bruce come to those threads to propose such a system for romances. I am disappoint, as they say. The main reason is I don't want to be seen to be hijacking threads to push a Romance agenda, we have more than enough threads to discuss Romance Agreed. Unfortunately it has gotten a bit out of hand as of late. I've stopped participating in they've stopped being productive (partly my fault). Ah well...
  7. Which mods would be those? I have been tempted to play through Skyrim, since I didn't finish any of the DLC content, but the game is too easy for my taste and I can't be bothered. Perkus Maximus is a nice overhaul for perks. Makes perks mean a whole lot more. Skyrin Redone is made by the same guy, but I use the combat difficulty modules of SkyRe with Perkus Maximus. SkyRe also does away with leveling, so if you go to some dungeons on too low a level you'll get annihilated. Although, that can happen just fighting bandits. Even at high levels. Every encounter is dangerous. To address the underwhelming dragons, I use Dragon Combat Overhaul alongside Deadly Dragons. It's brutal. If I'm alone somewhere and a dragon comes for me, it's run or die. Even at level 30 I typically can't handle a dragon fight without sacrificing half a city's guard to distract it. And that's if only one shows up... I also use Frostfall, which adds a survivalist element to the game. You can freeze to death. Swimming across a river makes you dripping wet and you suck more soaking wet and get colder quicker, and therefore fight more slowly. If you're in the North you may need to pitch a tent and warm up for awhile. If you try to swim in freezing water you freeze and die quickly. It's a nice touch. I also use realistic needs and diseases, and I get why people don't like those kinds of mods cause it gets too sims-y. It makes food more useful (you have to eat and drink to stay alive) and disease actually matter. You can't ignore your diseases anymore. They come with significant debuffs that are essentially a death sentence if you get into a tough fight (which is often with my other mods). Also, Civil War Overhaul, where a bit more specific, addresses another part of skyrim that is insanely too easy. With it, you can actually lose the war. With my other mods, it makes the civil war as brutal as you might imagine a civil war would be (and take as long!). When you put all that together, it's a completely different game (as you might imagine). It takes a lot of work to get things all set up to work together, but it's worth it. You can never become a god-like being. I have to have mods that extend how many followers I can have. You cannot solo Skyrim with a mod loadout like that. I, too, was always very underwhelmed by Skyrim, but now I can't get enough.
  8. About 80% of it for me is just being obnoxious, 15% trying to overcome the negative attitude toward promancers, and 5% is I'm drunk and listen to me.
  9. So, to be a promancer you have to have a specific set of preferences of how romances should work, so the people who like Bioware romances (very likely the largest segment and most significant of the lot) don't fit in it. Got it. Things are a lot more complicated than they seemed, aparently. And here I thought that being a promancer only ment to be in favor to the inclusion of romance in RPGs, go figure. I guess it depends on who you ask. It's a very contentious subject. I'd recommend avoiding it altogether if you don't actually care, otherwise you can expect me to be butthurt at you more.
  10. Skyrim with overhaul/difficulty mods (makes it feel like a completely different game).
  11. I recommend looking up what MCA's preferred takes on writing romances would be. Not all romances need to be Bioware-style. I didn't say that they should. I personally am interested in a story and how characters react to events and your choices, but to each their own. Also I mentioned Bioware only because OP said s/he is a fan of their games. I really wish folks would read what people's stances are on the romances aspects (aka romance thread). I've even conceded romances could be rendered obsolete assuming exceptional character development is done.
  12. I'm not a native speaker, but I think "some" doesn't mean "all". I haven't pay attention to the debate in this forum because I have no interest in it, but the OP is clearly one of the "promancers" that see them as some sort of feature from a check list, so I don't think what I said was unfair at all. Because you're attributing the attitudes of a brand new member, who posted the same topic in different subforums within minutes of each other, and who has clearly spent no time reading up on the community stance of potential romances in PoE to all people that support romances. When you refer to "promancers" you refer to the whole group. You're not the only one who does this. There are those of us that want to continue the PoE theme of mature storytelling into a different take on romances, and there are those that essentially want waifus. Accusatory statements against promancers, even if proceeded with "some," creates an unfair characterization of all. Please be more specific with your criticisms. "Promancers" have a hard enough time getting others to even take the time to consider our arguments seriously without being lumped in with those that want every game to be some sort of sex & seduction simulator. Dude, if I say some promancers I'm clearly reffering to a specific segment inside those people that are pro-romance. I honestly don't see the issue here. Because the people that want virtual girlfriends and the people who want to see a truly narrative enhancing romance (promancers) really tend to be two distinct groups. They just get lumped in with us because they technically fit. I don't think you were making a fair characterization, as you were lumping in what I think Stun dubbed the "promancers" with the three or four people that want bioware romances.

  15. I'm guessing you haven't bothered staying up with the romance debate. BruceVC and I have both argued that romances need to fit into the narrative, otherwise they tend to be overly awkward. Romances would be best to serve as a way to enhance character development, not be a mini-game like Bioware does it where you select the "heart" options to romance and find gifts to give to companions. It's not a good way to do it. We've also advocated that no romances are still better than badly done romances. In the romance thread we discussed at length MCA's take on how he would want to do romances if he had to, and I think his take would be a significant incline. Read the romance thread before you make generalized and marginalized statements of the promancers.

  17. I take it a step further and assume (despite evidence to the contrary) that's what Sensuki looks like IRL
  18. Romance discussion seems to be like a virus on these forums, infecting even the most tangentially related topics. Whaaaa? Say it isn't so! What kind of irresponsible person would keep doing that!? (Also, it's getting progressively more difficult to find comments to latch romance discussions onto)
  19. What was wrong with Kaiden? Kaiden was my boy! He never gave me any indication he was bisexual but you know? I can appreciate him trying to keep our friendship strictly professional. Whats wrong with Kaiden!? Screw Kaiden and his whining about headaches; Kaiden gives me a headache. So glad I can get him killed. Him and Miranda are the bane of my existence. I hate them both! Kaiden more than Miranda, but that's a close call. Obviously I get Miranda and her insufferable essence killed during the suicide mission. Though for me it's more like the murder mission where I kill off my least favorite crew members! Noooooo!! Not Miranda!!
  20. Most rpg romances are just stupid, its the equivalent of forcing a romatic story arc in every hollywood movie. If their is no plausible reason and no real character development than do not force a romantic relationship into it. I agree with this. Despite being a promancer, I still think no romance > bad romance. I just like what romances add to character development.
