Countdown to Eternity!
Lord Wafflebum replied to Mikey Dowling's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Sweet, having a community manager is important. Some of us go too long without naps and get mean toward BAdler. It's good they have someone to filter out the silliness. I'm curious to know how responsive companions are going to be. I'm not looking for spoilers, but if companions are going to be pretty responsive to me, each other, NPC's, events, etc I'm not going to want to make any custom characters so I don't miss out on that content. Edit: Oh, almost forgot- Are there going to be a lot of horses in this game? A strong breed and color variation? Will we be able to interact with any horses? -
BruceVC missed the opportunity here. Since I am his self-proclaimed promancer assistant I must say... Are romances in the workplace, even if the workplace is gallivanting around, not common? So, for even a semi-realistic experience shouldn't there be some romance? Even if said romance isn't between the PC and the a companion? What if your companions are into each other, but they find you revolting? Hmm?

Ugh, just stop, please. The only thing that has been shown with an definiteness is that an individual empathy is commonly lessened after recently watching/playing something violent. Just about every study I've seen on the subject has suffered from an abuse of the scientific method regardless of what side the study comes down on. There's no one thing that makes a person how they are. It's an mixed influence of genetics, emotional stability, parental involvement and temperament, socioeconomic status, and even defining experiences in adulthood as a trigger. Arguing that your ice cream melts because more people are wearing swimsuits is absurd. Your ice cream is melting because it's summer, it's hot, and therefore people are more likely to be wearing swimsuits. CORRELATION IS NOT CAUSATION.

About the first expansion
Lord Wafflebum replied to Sanquiz's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Heh, the only writing I've ever really done are scientific papers, which aren't the definition most people have of romance. I'm not entirely sure I could write a romance, but if I did it would inevitably turn out weird. It would likely be the sort of romance only people like Lephys could appreciate. Not to say I wouldn't be interested in trying to write something like that, but my programming abilities are on par with a man in his 80's that thinks computers are run by witchcraft. -
Which all give rise to talking points when I want to seduce them. "Oh, look how deep and understanding this lesser race is, maybe I was all wrong about them!" Then I'm in! I bet they smell nice. Incorrect. They are the best to romance. I disagree. They are barely better than humans to romance. I'd prefer something more wacky. Like a male Gnome or female Half-Orc. Now that would be funny and more interesting than freakin' elves. Too BG2 gave you three choices: Elf, Elf, or if you're feeling adventurous; Half-Elf. BG2 was exactly right. Why romance anything BUT an elf when there are elven romances to choose from? Altho, I'd be down with a death godlike romance, Joe Black style. Thank you for the delicious cookies. Yep, gotta keep the races pure...

About the first expansion
Lord Wafflebum replied to Sanquiz's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Can I be QA for you guys? That would be awesome. The romance I want to write the most is the one where when you play a ranger, your animal companion romances Sagani's fox (or whatever kind of animal she has, I don't remember) and there's nothing you can do to stop it. Bioware's got nothing on me. -

Bruce and I will write the character romances for free for PoE 2. -
Backer Reward Shipment Poll
Lord Wafflebum replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
They offered first. I can wait, but if they're offering to send me my physical goods by release day I'm more than happy to take them up on the offer. They asked our opinions and we're giving them. They don't need to be defended when they were the ones that proposed the idea. -
Backer Reward Shipment Poll
Lord Wafflebum replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Since I have the option, I'm all about option 1. I very much appreciate you guys are willing to eat the extra shipping costs. Your professionalism and customer service are unparalleled in this industry. Even if the poll ends up going in favor of waiting, I truly appreciate the offer and sentiment. Thank you. -
I'm a little wary to mention in this thread for fear of it getting lost, but it doesn't seem worth it to start a new thread. Enchanting. It would be nice to get some feedback (message box mayhaps?) after enchanting something. I put an enchantment on a sword and just sat there for an embarrassingly long time waiting for some sort of confirmation of the enchantment being applied to said sword. I thought the game froze upon me and started clicking randomly only to realize it was all just fine and I was the idiot. It would be nifty to have something that told you the enchantment was applied. I realize it's pretty trivial, but it just feels weird to me otherwise. It won't "ruin the game" for me if it stays how it is, and ultimately I'm fine with it. Just thought I'd mention it. Oh, and unrelated, I like the new little animations put in when you rest. Those are neat. Also, the new Obsidian splash logo is excellent.

Male or Female
Lord Wafflebum replied to constantine's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
You should roleplay Lord Carlos Wafflebum, Fanciest of Fancy-men. It's too stimulating for most, however. -
Literally every single time they've released a new build I've been at work.

Character Names
Lord Wafflebum replied to BlueLion's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
... I take it you don't refer to your entire estate as "I"? So sorry for the confusion. I prefer to clearly separate myself from my lessers. Your apologies are a reflection of your graciousness. You have truly exquisite manners. I would wager your clothing is stained with sweat. Shameful, really. Lephys and I have people that work our muscles for us. Fancy men cannot be bothered with sweating. -

My only disappointment is that there wasn't some sort of plush horse add-on. -

Heh, a lot has changed since the last beta. While I wasn't disappointed with the battle music, it left something to be desired. If there is a greater variety of music and/or changes to the music, I'm very much looking forward to hearing it. Hopefully any audio-related changes made will be reflected in the final beta release. Great music can turn a good experience into something you can remember vividly a decade+ later.

Walk toggle?
Lord Wafflebum replied to Lythe Vodaine's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
@Luckmann They devs have been really active interacting with us, and if you pay attention to the "users reading this topic" you can often find devs perusing threads. I'm pretty confident when they ask about "Things we want in the expansion" they will seriously explore the most popular suggestions. If walk toggle is requested enough, and fits into the budget for implementation, it is quite plausible to see in the future.
