Betabackers: Are racial bonuses important?
Lord Wafflebum replied to Kid Presentable's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
The idea of communism isn't intrinsically evil, its more so that it just doesn't work. too much of the concept requires Ideal circumstances to remain consistent over time which is why it inevitably ends in corruption or never truly get implemented correctly in the first place. Its biggest problem is it leaves no room for the fact that people are human and despite our best efforts people will never be unified on a level required for the concept to "work". Pinko commie. I'm calling the FBI. -
Betabackers: Are racial bonuses important?
Lord Wafflebum replied to Kid Presentable's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I don't personally know. I prefer my reactions to be based on purely anecdotal evidence and then assume any/all comments are criticisms of the good ol' US of A even if there isn't the slightest hint that may be the case. I then violently lash out, assuming Obama has new allies in his war to take away my guns and Christmas. It ultimately culminates in me getting another credit card to max out buying guns and ammunition, because that's the American way. -

Supporting communism in games is un-American and bad. Capitalist democracy for all. Don't mess with Texas. -
Night environmental sounds (crickets are too intense!)
Lord Wafflebum replied to Antioch's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I don't think crickets are out in winter- even in California. -
Heya !

Bhaal didn't stop at rabbits, either. -
I am a lover that's true, but a mediocre one at best. I'd say OE has earned some street cred back as of late, and I don't think they can be held entirely responsible for the buggy release of FNV. That's what happens when you have to meet a deadline or get sued. It's just s shame that Sensuki doesn't have a copy of the current build of the full version. He'd have every bug identified in it in about 4 weeks.

As a fan of Lay on Hands, I agree with your criticisms there. I like having that ability, but it isn't horribly useful as is. I like this thread. I'm a huge fan of Paladins, but in this build they're just not doing it for me. Playing a monk is much more worth my time right now than playing as a Paladin.

Lol. I have a sneaking suspicion they're pretty busy in at least a pseudo-crunch to squash as many bugs as possible before they have to go gold. -
What I'm expecting is that 80% of the stuff folks are complaining about that will "ruin the game" for them ceases to be a problem once they start playing it. It looks like they've put a lot of love into this game and out of any game developer is existence, including Bioware, OE has the most right talent to bring back an IE-style game. A lot of my faith in Sawyer comes from F:NV. I was underwhelmed with FO3, but F:NV brought back a lot of what made Fallout what it is. The Codex would say I'm part of the "Sawyer is my God" crowd, but I think he's earned that faith.

Horses (Spoilers?)
Lord Wafflebum replied to Lord Wafflebum's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Horse armor is oppressive to horses. They should be able to choose whether or not they want to wear armor. I also don't want to ride them. Also oppressive. I think horses should be in charge. If horses chose to speak to humans they would be so very, very wise. @Cluas You don't care about horses? That's very un-American of you. -
My guess is that as one explores, quests will be completed (intentionally or not) and that there will still be at least some xp gain even if you're avoiding the main questline(s). Xp is given out as parts of quests are completed, so it would stand to reason that you might unintentionally complete sections of quests as you poke around places. It's hard to say, tho. I vaguely remember one of the devs saying at some point they didn't want the explorer-type players to get frustrated while exploring. Unfortunately, I think it might be a case of "hard to say" until we have the full release.

I very much enjoyed the second thread. I realized the reference I made might be lost on our European friends after I posted. It was a joke...

I'm not sure it's exclusionary. I mean, you still want to do the quests, right? If you intend to play the game to go out into the woods and murder bears or whatever and not follow the story, then yes you'll more than likely be excluded from meaningful xp gains. If combat is your sole focus tho, I think you will not enjoy this game at all.

Bah- this is Pillars of Eternity and NOT Portland, Oregon.
