Crickets of Eternity
Lord Wafflebum replied to ryukenden's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I think it might actually be a katydid... which is very closely related to a cricket. -
Oh Lephys... I'm very anti-hair. Head hair is kept short and I never have more than a little stubble on my face. Hair is gross. Especially when people leave it places. Don't come over to my house and leave your protein strands all over the place! Rude.

Betabackers: Are racial bonuses important?
Lord Wafflebum replied to Kid Presentable's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
@Namutree Sounds like you at least played the beta -
It was a counseling firm, and everything there was awful. I got fired for going 10 minutes over my lunch break (after working there for over a year having never been late once). Maybe it wasn't the best example...

On the back of the game box among the endorsements I hope it says: "I think we all know that this [Pillars of Eternity] is going to work out brilliantly. It's going to soar into the sky until we stand and watch it, mouth open and eyes burning, shading our faces from the blinding radiance." -Nipsen the Unbacker

Lol, after Skyrim came out one of my coworkers grew out a Franz Josef. It created a bunch of drama with our HR, and he got fired for refusing to shave it. They ended up having to pay him a severance when he took them to court. He still has it, but has become a "stay-at-home dad" because the only jobs he could get were ones where he never interacted with another human being in person. The Franz Josef ruins lives, people.

Sensuki's videos are good to watch to get started. Another forum member, Shevek, also made some videos for those new to the game. Honestly, I loathed this game until I got help from them. I played on Easy to begin with as well and up until very recently. Watching how others have played classes is hugely helpful. I've only recently begun to appreciate the wizard class which I had found disappointing until I learned I was playing it wrong. If I can get the hang of it, anyone can. I made the most progress playing as a monk and hiring a chanter from the inn immediately after starting. If there is a specific hurdle you're facing, come on the forums and ask. Sensuki especially is a good resource for strategy advice. The learning curve is a bit steep, but once you get used to it this game is a lot of fun.

Horses wearing tuxedos, top hats, and monocles. My ultimate fantasy.

I can't believe I missed pundemic... So, only people that agree with you are allowed in this thread? That doesn't make much sense. It was not my intention to accuse you directly of whining; you were articulate and outlined your preferences reasonably. I apologize that you thought it was directed at you. Others have been... much less reasonable and that has irked me considering I don't see what the issue is. I still stand by my rant, however, much like you hoping to be heard. I don't think it equates to a cosmetic issue and is ultimately an unnecessary drain on resources. Is that not fair? Also, I don't know what an .ini is or why it would require tweaking so I guess that's not something you have to worry about?

@cloudpm You sound like my wife. Of course I talk too much, forums like this attract people that talk too much. Nature of the beast, I'm afraid. My issue is that people are nitpicking rather trivial stuff when the game is going to be much better served with the devs focusing on tweaking, bug fixing, and stability- not adding stuff where the sole purpose seems to be for immersion. The community is doing the game a disservice by trying to convince the devs to be adding in a bunch more stuff and not focusing on finalizing the game. The same people that are whining about "empty" cities (which they aren't) are going to be the same people whining about bugs they didn't have time to fix because they were adding filler NPC/PNJ's whatevers. @Lephys Your disease is spreading. Soon there will be a pun pandemic.

The more powerful you get, the weirder you get with life. When there are no longer barriers, why stop? -

That's the nice thing about Nevada. It's quiet because everything is constantly trying to kill everything else. -
Betabackers: Are racial bonuses important?
Lord Wafflebum replied to Kid Presentable's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I'm still waiting for a game that explores multiple political perspectives, and showcasing them all as reasonable (at least on the surface). However, further into the game it's shown that they're really all quite terrible and most agendas are motivated by the personal gain of those that lead them. I suspect that would get overly complex, tho... -
Nope, I'm going to play it right away. I have faith the release will be reasonably stable and lacking critical bugs. Waiting a month would also limit my ability to smack talk in the forums.

Only if you don't pay it back and freeload off the government. -

Advocating for having perspective on different, viable viewpoints? I smell sedition.
