  1. Most of the regulars on these boards are fanboys. Thats a fact. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Fact? According to whom? Care to list the names? There are not so many regulars on these boards.
  2. *sigh* Apparently I have to work a bit on my online sarcasm bit. I found the original statement that
  3. Did you actually name your character Volo?
  4. Hmm. NWN1 was out for 4.5 years (correct me if I'm wrong). 365 days a year. 4.5 * 365 = 1642.5 days total. "Tens" of thousands implies more than 1x 10,000 people. Let's be conservative and say it was 20,000 Result: ~12 people a day So you are saying you were meeting 12 people a day who are saying certain thing (implies you meet more than 12 new people a day total), if playing every day for 4.5 years since NWN1 release? ... Let's say it is a little exaggerated.
  5. jorian is Hades too
  6. They are just bitter because NWN2 is not what they expected. It is human nature to look for more negative aspects in things they don't like. It is human nature to dislike changes, especially in something that they had a very long exposure to. It is in human nature to be twice as vocal about bad things than about good things. Whining is going to wind down in a bit of time. The best thing to do now is to ignore these trolls (not that I am implying that constructive feedback should be dismissed though). Case closed.
  7. Seems to me that "stock shortage" is a new marketing tool.
  8. Strangely enough I was thinking about that comic right now.
  9. Hype machine at work.
  10. I remember plenty of Torment topics, but no Planescape 3D FPS MMO topic yet, unless I've missed something.
  11. I think you have answered your own question. Well, at least that is my reason for "No".
  12. That is not exactly correct. NWN2 doesn't take advantage of second core, but it doesn't mean the processor is unsupported. BTW, we have another thread on dual core CPUs.
  13. No. Please...
  14. I taught junior university courses in Java programming, though I was a TA, not a lecturer First time I've got a freshmen class, who were not even sure why they were taking this class or were taking it because it is compulsory. It was very exhausting to work with them. However, next semester natural selection has done its job and I've got a better class.
  15. This means that the handful of people who hated the radial menu is concentrated on these boards. I'll restate again, radial menu was awful. R00fles!
  16. Just something unrelated: whatever antivirus you choose, stay away from top 3 sellers: McAfee, Symantec, and Trend Micro. Malware authors test their work with the most prevalent antivirus software, that is why hit rate of popular antivirus software with new variations of malware is abysmal. So, as a rule, antivirus quality has little to do with the quality of actual engine. Also, mkreku, a chart about NOD32's performance taken from NOD32's website is not really indicative of its quality.
  17. Shockingly, I'm waiting for NWN2
  18. Yes, that is almost what I meant; however the biggest problem, I believe, is not rewriting the graphics engine, but integrating all new goodies with Aurora, which is not a trivial task. Hopefully the engine will get into shape in a month or two and will be polished in 4-6 months.
  19. WTF are you saying, I find that hard to believe because to be honest I don't see much going off that is worthwhile. In terms of the technology I see either bad code or bad decisions. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> When you have to integrate your code with existing (heterogeneous) codebases, achieving good performance is much more tricky than just "writing good code", you, as a programmer, should know that. I find your claim about that "the code is bad because nothing worthwhile is going on" to be especially surprising. You can't judge code quality until you see it yourself, because there is a lot of factors to consider.
  20. Oh, no wonder it is running smooth on everything maxed out. I wonder what will my 7600GT pull off.
  21. What's the configuration?
  22. A dev post indicating that NWN2 isn't multi-threaded (it uses only one core). Some dual-core CPUs are not the performance issue.
  23. Ah, OK. Sorry, I misread your reply. This would make sense, though Taks was referring to Linux; Windows thread scheduler tries to schedule the thread on the same processor/core. No idea
