  1. Viruses in the mail is not GMail's fault.
  2. I think you've hit a bug, because I distinctly remember not needing a key.
  3. Funny how everyone in this thread blame lack of sleep for their results.
  4. I, for one, didn't find mandatory characters bothersome. The reason for this design decision, I believe, is that it makes creating good NPC sequences much easier, as you know exactly who is going to be in the party.
  5. I know. You don't share mine, I don't share yours. Simple. It is fine to bring up constructive points, but buffing up a list up to a "cool" number is trolling. [quote name='
  6. It is half-half... like a centaur?
  7. I'd like to see the definition of "way cooler". Besides, many people were complaining on old NWN2 boards that buffed NWN1 characters look like Christmas tree and asking to tone it down a bit. So they've got what they asked for. Oh, you haven't yet seen the "101 things wrong with NWN2" list on Bioboards. That is insane. It is funny how people who hate the game waste so much time on such silly exercises.
  8. I believe it is Shadowdancer.
  9. Say what? I thought Mage Armor was really well done (red glowing sphere and distortion effect). I barely remember how it looked in NWN1 though. Can't say anything about other spells, as I'm not up to them yet.
  10. Wow, AA is nice. How big is the patch? Too bad I'm capped to 64kbps till next week.
  11. Actually ~20%. Still tops everyone else though.
  12. Heard anything about mobility? Well, you know, for people who don't spend their life in Ames, Iowa?
  13. Except I think Roshan is using a laptop. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Who uses a laptop to game on? That is just silly. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I did for the past 3 years. And for a good reason too.
  14. Unix makes you store everything personal in your home directory because you don't have write permissions in any other directories by default (except few select places like /tmp), unlike Windows which has an incredibly retarded default security configuration: user has root privileges. This habit is inherited from DOS and should be burned and forgotten as soon as possible. And you don't have to be a god programmer to configure permissions in Unix, it is really easy. In fact, even easier than Windows NT permissions.
  15. Don't panic and don't reformat. As Fio advised, do a scan in Safe Mode, and delete any copies of malware found. Furthermore, use Process Explorer to find out more information about running processes (it even has a handy "Google" option for process names). For example google on "dllhost32" reveals that it is an unwanted process and gives clues for its functionality (some search results tell me that "[this malware] is started automatically from a Run, RunOnce, RunServices, or RunServicesOnce entry in the registry"). Use Autoruns to weed out any autorun keys, including loading drivers.
  16. Longer AV-scan doesn't make your system more vulnerable. Allowing more parts of your file system to be written by a non-privileged user does. No.
  17. For some reason I get perverted pleasure out of it. Maybe there is still hope. @Sand: then move your "My Documents" to a directory in a different partition then, or make another "Documents" partition.
  18. So you don't have any practical reason then. Except that having your NWN2 savegames on your C: drive affects your esoteric feeling of harmony and perfection of your data organization?
  19. Can you choose where to place you saved games in any game? Nope. You just got used to one way system organizes your data for you, now you can't get over the fact that it changed, even though you don't need to do absolutely anything to manage it. Sheesh. How often do you copy your saves anywhere?
  20. Does a console even allow you to organize your data?
  21. The point being that it is a sound practice in operating systems organization. If you don't like it, sucks to be you, no amount of bitching will change the situation.
  22. ^ Hades
  23. No, you have fragmentation if you frequently change the contents of the partition (which is often the case with documents folder). Still, keeping user data in user home directory is the way to go. Hooray for that! Edit: also, one more thing that I forgot: think access control in a multi-user system.
  24. Well, what can I say. You will get used to it. Seriously, there is a good reason for not storing your documents on C: (system) drive (hint: fragmentation).
