  1. Judging by the feedback from those who have preordered NWN2, it is not true.
  2. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> *cough* HDR, FSAA "
  3. It was actually hard for me to get any sense from this review. It is more of incomprehensible and bitter ranting, rather than review. Apart from being D&D, having linear and inorganic dungeons, what else warrants a rating of 5/10?
  4. Not playing NWN2.
  5. It can. At least for me. Well, probably the fact that I try to keep my system as clean as possible for the first 6 months has something to do with it. Also, I rarely install new drivers or other software that requires root privileges to install.
  6. If Mozart is dead, it doesn't mean his music is.
  7. Exactly what I used to think prior to thorough exposure to Unix )
  8. Yes, but registry is not only "available on drive C", as it is system-wide, it is application specific registry keys that can contain absolute paths to game installation folder, etc. And I think putting saves configuration settings in user's home directory makes a lot of sense, then it is easy to control permisions of non-administrator users (i.e. game's data directory doesn't have to be writeable by them). It is Unix way after all
  9. Hmm, I expected to see dodgy "love potion" links in this topic.
  10. I am willing to bet that the answer to this topic is "no".
  11. Norton is not a good choice for an antivirus software, though.
  12. Registry functions are in no way connected to the logical drive you happen to install a game on, it is two completely unrelated concepts.
  13. I haven't played the actual game, I just stared at the box that it has arrived in, and it is just plain disgusting. THE GAME IS A DISASTER!
  14. I am not familiar with KOTOR music, but isn't Winamp associated with *.wav files by default? Anyway, if Winamp is not associated with a file extension in Windows Explorer, but the format is known, it is easier to just select all files and drag-and-drop to Winamp playlist.
  15. I have these (excellent) extensions, plus McAfee SiteAdvisor - displays web-site safety rating based on automatic analysis and user reviews BugmeNot - bypass compulsory web-site registration Opera style All-in-One Sidebar CustomizeGoogle - remove ads, add links to web archive, other search engines, anonymize cookies, make image search link to image directly, remove sponsored links Google BrowserSync - synchronize bookmarks, cookies, and, optionally, history in different browser installations - at home, at work, etc. Not recommended for are privacy-paranoid All extensions are compatible with Firefox 2.0
  16. My general observation is that cost depends on a multitude of factors such as demand, technologies used, and volume of production. Quality as well, but after you take into account all other factors.
  17. That's is almost never a drive space issue, but rather memory usage and application stability issue. However I seem to have no changes in performance whasoever (using Firefox 2.0 now). Probably it has something to do with me having a Core 2 Duo processor with 2Gb of RAM. "
  18. Only if you are using KDE, of course. Might as well recommend Lynx. "
  19. If the universe is the result of a random act, there are infinite number of possible outcomes, and hence, every possible outcome has the probability of happening approaching 0. It can be that we observe one of the outcomes with infinitely small probability, and conclude that it can't happen. And, wow, I see a constructive discussion of religion this time.
  20. Wow, firefox just saved the internet. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Some extensions still do not work with FF2 (Imageshack toolbar, for example). Most of the important ones do (McAfee SiteAdvisor, AdBlock, Google BrowserSync, BugmeNot).
  21. I'd jump on the bandwagon and recommend Firefox. Opera is nice too, but it doesn't have that number of useful extensions.
  22. Half an hour, but also, sometimes a uni lecture can be not so engaging. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Can't you just go to real movies if you have that much time and are out and about in the city? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not really, I don't have that many contiguous time slots in the day. Besides, the movie theatres rarely have anything that is of interest to me.
  23. Use IeTab extension for Firefox to abandon IE (as an app) forever.
