  1. That's going to take a long while for some people to get used to Unix Way. I'm, on the other hand, all for storing user specific data in user's Home directory, this way I can just sync all my documents, settings, saved games between different systems at once. Also it is much easier to do backups, since I'd need to burn only one directory for everything. If you really don't want to keep your saved games on C: drive, you can change that by selecting a different location for your "My Documents" directory.
  2. He described some of the real cons of PS3. Doesn't make him less of a troll though. Ars Technica Review (Conclusion)
  3. Nab in grab of man with PlayStation
  4. Both is done via context menu (right click). There is a lag between the moment you right-click and the menu appears, it can be reduced in game options.
  5. OK, it runs under Administrator account only. Dumb. Anyway, I decided to restart. That is what happens if you generate too much random names:
  6. I hardly even remember Imoen, and she doesn't talk as much too.
  7. Yes, but doesn't variety make NWN2 character design so awesome? I'd be bored to hell if everyone was like Elanee. You need someone annoying to spice things up. Neeshka is annoying and arrogant as heck, but I enjoy a variety of positive/negative traits in characters.
  8. Yes, there is a slider controlling draw distance.
  9. I'll refrain from voting now as I haven't got a full impression now. I don't quite like Elanee. She feels a bit sterile and she reminds me of Jaheira whom I've never liked. But I'm early in the game, so we'll see. Khelgar is cool. Too bad my party doesn't agree with me. Neeshka can be annoying and arrogant, but she is extremely well done and feels alive (except the meeting cutscene).
  10. I have to stop playing NWN2 until SecuROM fixes the issue with their copy protection which prevents me from playing the game with original media in place. It worked before btw, after reboot it just stopped authenticating the disc correctly (no I don't have any emulation software and my DVD-RW drive is new). I will use a No-CD crack for NWN2 as soon as one is available. Just out of sheer principle.
  11. It is damn hard to be a noble living in the swamp village for the whole life.
  12. I'm posting and I'm under influencec of alcohol. I believe them.
  13. That is what I was wondering too. No AA option in game, overriding through NVidia settings doesn't help.
  14. You know, jorian will actually take you seriously. I think.
  15. Actually I think it can, as they use some kind of homebrew memory manager.
  16. Played for about 5 hours. NPCs are great, voice acting is sometimes very good, sometimes horrible. Some music and sounds are recycled, meh. Story is good so far, but campaign and area design by itself feels waaaay too linear (I didn't make it Neverwinter yet). Also, I don't know what is the big issue with the camera I keep hearing about (except when a building is in the way). Well, I can say that it lives up to my expectations (so far).
  17. Spoiler tags, people! Use it!
  18. Microsoft wants a chunk of this big fat "media player market" pie too. ^_^
  19. Complaint of the week: "Disgraceful printed manual".
  20. I was picking at your claim that mixed C/C++ code is ridiculously unreadable by nature (and by "mixed" I mean mixing C/C++ paradigms). Anyway, in my experience, messy code usually means that it has fallen victim to premature optimization. It should be readable even in optimized form unless you have a good reason for it not being readable (interfacing and/or porting auto-generated code or code from different platform/paradigm/etc). Even frameworks optimized for low-memory environment (embedded) can be well structured (look at Symbian C++).
  21. How can you use C++ and not use STL? Anyway, readability of the code is purely author's fault. Except for the cases where you have to use legacy codebase.
  22. This may be a bit off-topic, but I find this post on Bioboards incredibly hilarious.
