First Dragon Age infos revealed!
Or you mean dumbed-down? For me, it was the reason #2 for loving this game (after atmosphere). Oh well. To each their own, I guess.

Romanian Man Indicted for Hacking NASA
Any mission-critical system that is even remotely related to nation's security MUST be disconnected from any public networks. Physically. So no, the Shuttle won't blow up, nuclear war is not going to start, noone out of 300 million people is going to get hurt. These systems are likely to provide surveillance data for scientists, which means scientists were unable to get their data remotely for a time. So, yes, the sentence is (or rather, would be) too severe. PS All shuttles that blew up in US were the results of piss-poor management decisions. PPS And no, it was not a robbery.

Suggested anti bot measures
Then this would mean this board has a poor CAPTCHA in the registration form, I suppose, since it doesn't stop bots from registering.

Romanian Man Indicted for Hacking NASA
When did I say he was honourable? Yes, he is still a criminal, though I think there is a fair chance he wasn't there for the data, but most likely because of a combination of curiosity/"coolness" factor/vanity. Given the information in the article, he is not mature enough socially to be involved in commercial hacking or government conspiracies. Besides, the article made it sound like "omgz0rs! hes in ur base DESTROYING ur dataz!!11!", I figured this thread needs to be even. But 54 years is waaaaay too much. A waste of brainpower. He is not a robber, he is not a murderer. He has a much better chance of becoming a productive citizen. NASA wanting him behind the bars for the rest of his life is a political statement, not a fair punishment. Since movies. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hacking in the real world to movies is the same as climate science to "The Day After Tomorrow" ( ). And, Di, no, you are not misinterpreting what we said. This guy is a wrongdoer, but he does not deserve 54 years in prison.

How many lives...
At least that one doesn't have a smilie.

They didn't lose any data (as far as I can get from the article), they just state that they can't risk using the data on compromised computers, because it is too important. Hence said data is "lost". <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, it clearly says: "As a result of the intrusion and loss of data" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hence the expenses. Besides, hackers don't just destroy data because they can, I highly doubt he's done anything deliberately to destroy the data if he is a white hat hacker. "Loss" of data can be interpreted in many ways.

What are you doing right now
I've done it 10+ times this semester (after 9th I've lost count).

Suggested anti bot measures
CAPTCHA This board already has one (registration). There is an alternative method that involves randomizing form field names and placing hidden html form elements that are attractive to bots. E.g.: Before: title field: "title" post field: "post" After: bogus hidden field: "post" title field: "f0Wno6t10" bogus hidden field: "title" post field: "qp5ew46A2" EDIT: Also, the reason that the bots keep picking "" smilie is because it is the first in the list. Add one more hidden element (say, id=0) in front of the list, the bots will pick it, the humans won't. The board can just swallow the post with no error and the bot will think that it has posted, but no actual post would be made.

I don't believe I've seen the bots with these words in their names. HEY!

NWN2: Discussion
I am not quite following Bioboards lately; is there any info on when 1.03 (non-beta) patch will be out?

Pictures of your games...
It is not a cutscene, I removed HUD to take a screenshot.

Romanian Man Indicted for Hacking NASA
The point being that implementing computer security properly today takes more than just one "super-hacker genius dude" who can magically patch up all the holes. Especially for a large organizations such as NASA. Security is more of an organizational issue than a technical one.

That is naive view that could work for a cheesy movie "Hackers", I suppose.

NWN2: Discussion
Since my evolution into Casual Gamer is almost complete, I find auto-resurrection thing to be convenient (don't kill me). I would find it irritating a year ago though.

Romanian Man Indicted for Hacking NASA
They didn't even face any real data damages, they just "could not rely upon the integrity of the data on the hacked computers" (ever heard about backup? duh). Nevertheless, it was really stupid of them to expose any machines with important data to the public network.

And don't even bring in Deus-Ex as it will spawn endless boring rants on its genre definition. Now that I think of it, I don't see Thief as RPG either. Mortis Nai, care to explain?

Reading this, as I have to implement it now.

NWN2: Discussion
Seems to me not much different from NWN1.

Playstation 3 a bargain?
Depends on your "upgrade style". If you tend to buy newer and more expensive hardware, you'd upgrade less often; on the other hand, if you upgrade just to meet minimum requirements, yes, you will be continually upgrading.

NWN2: Discussion
I didn't need heal points anywhere else though. Later, my main was wearing an amulet of health and Khelgar was a monk (the two characters that matter in the battle ). Besides, I cheated in that crypt. When a character has suffered the disease for too long, I just let them die in the next battle, and voila, they wake up without any side-effects.

If your country drafts you for a war...
Wearing a super armor = being in a front line. Not so much of a joy.

Romanian Man Indicted for Hacking NASA
For those who are interested: White hat hackers vs black hat hackers. And it was very unwise of NASA to expose their internal network so much. They had it coming and now they are just pissed. PS And Baley is not an engineer.
