  1. I've been watching this too. It will be interesting to see if they can pull it off. They've been calling it a MMORPG with TB squad level combat...which has never really been tried, that I know of.
  2. The entire music industry agrees that it is music. I'm guessing they are right.
  3. Nice job Pix Rap is music. You don't have to like it. If a vocalist goes on stage and sings without instruments, it's still called music. Rappers may not hit high notes like a singer, but they use rhythm and voice inflection to create melodies.
  4. Hehe, now we have three threads to choose from.
  5. Dang, all that quoting you did too.
  6. Random factoid: Emilio Esteves is the brother of Charlie Sheen and son of Martin. Esteves was dropped by Martin and Charlie for the more "Hollywood" name Sheen. I think. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I believe you are right. I think there was also some parenting issues that caused Emilio to stick with the name. I think there were different mothers too.
  7. Yeah, didn't Martin Sheen have a serious heart attack during filming?
  8. I had totally forgotten Star Control 2. There were some great characters in that game. I remember the ugly race that constantly spewed insults at you in particular.
  9. I think Roger Ebert wrote a pretty major article over this... I agree that not all games are art, but I also don't think that all movies or books are art. If something is interactive, does it stop being art? It's an interesting argument though. I guess it will be answered in about 50 years when game have a solid history behind them.
  10. We could always take a vote on whether Jack is biased against liberals. Would that be the democratic way of doing things?
  11. kumquatq3 does seem to be the oldest active poster.
  12. I'm not sure what that has to do with this thread, but that's a pretty good amount of hours from an expansion pack.
  13. Ah, Oerwinde was the Necro, but Dg defended it.
  14. I agree entirely with Diamond. Game design is a young industry, so you have plenty of people involved with it without a formal education background. I imagine as it grows, a dgree will become more important. Now Shadowstrider made some interesting inferences, but I'll try and explain my point again. Let me start by saying the most valuable thing for any potential employer is real experience. But when you are 22, that experience is hard to come by. A 22 year old with ANY degree will look better than a 22 year old with no experience. Clearly, having a relevant degree is important, but I know plenty of people who are not using their degrees. They get in the door with them, and then they learn an entirely new skillset.

These three point games are just kiling me. Seriously, every team in the Western Conference is going to have 100 points this season.
  16. Look at the date Dg_War, this thread is from a week...and a year ago. Feb. 2005 was last year.
  17. Since reading comprehension seems to be a problem in this thread, I will restate this. Obtaining a college degree shows dedication and determination. It doesn't mean you've learned particular skills for an industry. It just means you are capable of doing so because you have dedication and determination. Graduate school is also always going to depend on your major, the faculty, and what you choose for a thesis. It might be an easy subject, but it still will require dedication and determination. It takes years to complete, just like a major game.
  18. My account was made on October 3rd, 2004. The board did not exist until then.
  19. I told you he was a corporate plant. I actually think anyone who has KOTOR in there name is a plant.
  20. You are so uber, here's your cookie.
  21. This really doesn't affect Bioware or Pandemic in any way. Elevation is just an investment company. They've already stated that they will not interfere with development in any way.

I'd much rather see Edmonton in a solid spot and let my Sharks pick off Colorado. Even the Kings are fading fast as we come into the home stretch. What's the deal with Selanne? I really hate that guy.
  23. Keep in mind that the US is conservative on most fronts. The Republican party is filled with conservatives, but even the Democrats are far from being liberal. Ultra-conservatives have less reason to get up in arms. Ultra-liberals are far from from being able to push their agendas with regular channels, so they go to the extreme. I don't agree with it, but I do think ultra conservatives would (and have) go to the same extremes if the country were more liberal.
  24. Corporate PLANT!

Seattle had a chance to pull away early, but they let the Steelers pull it together. I stopped watching at the end, boring game.
