Current RPG's are expected to have a large emphasis on story and character development. While almost any game puts you in a role, and many genres have stats, very few focus on just telling a story. Of course, adventure games do the same thing, but I think if there is little to no combat, it fits the adventure game genre.

All the psychos from that second rate merc company (They all were good with knives) 9. The surfer guy...Scully? 10. Fidel...oh, he should be higher...he's right under Ice really. But he was not as cool in JA2. In JA he killed one of my merc girls overnight for bewing obnoxious.

I think it's all about price at this point. If you have the disposable income, there's no reason not to get an LCD, but most people don't have money lying around.

I bit into my tongue tonight during a game. It's seriously nasty looking, and by the end of the game there was dried blood all over my lips. Painful...and we still lost 4-3. I had a goal at least.

The newer LCD monitors are just as impressive in terms of resolution and refresh rate as a CRT monitor. Lifespan shouldn't be an issue either. If you can afford it, it's definitely worth it. They are about twice the price of a CRT, but there are high quality ones for $300 now.

I just finished watching "The Grudge". It was a decent little scary movie, but it really needed an ending. It just stopped in the middle of a scene. Give me some closure.

This reminds me of general chat in most MMORPG's.

The NWN group I played with had quite a few people playing evil characters, although they tended to start out rather neutral and embrace their darker side as they got more powerful. We had Temple of Cyric and Bane hidden throughout the different servers. They were able to knock off a few pretty powerful PC's too, and it as all in good role playing fashion.

TA refers to Total Anhilition, which quite a few people classify as the most solid RTS ever made. The guy who made it also made Dungeon Siege. I believe there is a sequel coming out, but it will be hard to reach the mark he hit the first time. I'm surprised someone put the new Pirates game on here. The game is supposed to be short, as in you could finish a entire game in an hour or 2. But I enjoyed that. I didn't play it for 50 hours, but I played through a couple careers and had great fun. The only thing that saved Diablo 2 for me were the cut scenes. Otherwise it had the gameplay enjoyment of a dead fish. The worst cut scenes I've ever seen are Mark Hamill talking to a lame looking Kilrathi in Wing Commander III. There was ahilariously bad game on the Sega CD where you were trying to save sorority girls. Night Stalker? It was all live action video.

I really want to see The Constant Gardener. The director also did City of God, which was extremely powerful. It really humanized the poverty and troubles of a 3rd world city.

Actually, now that I look at the topic, I only played the Lionheart demo so it doesn't count. And it doesn't say RPG, so I think I'll go with Cutthroats: Terror on the High Seas. I really wanted it to be good.

I'm still a bit shocked that lordodark made a decent topic...and that Llyranor and Nick_I_am are clearly the same person...shocker ! I'm going to have to vote for Lionheart.

I think Francis is probably the most under-rated player of our generation. Many might say that he was just lucky to play with Lemieux for so many years, but what he did in Carolina showed that he was truly a great player. He did for the Hurricanes what Gretzky did for the Kings.

I wish we could vote off people...of course then I'd probably be voted off. Craziness. Seriously though, people who don't try and spell correctly drive me crazy. Get a frickin' vocabulary.

Hehe, I think there's a limit on how young of a baby you can use for TV. Younger than a month is seriously young. I'm surprised they went through with the Baptism. I agree it was kinda a rough episode, but it set the stage for a few things. It looks like we'll have a bit of action next week.

I just read this on Penny Arcade...it seems pretty sad. I'm starting to wonder about a few posters though. Personally, if I was a corporate plant, I'd expect at least $30k a year for reading all the lame crud on forums.

I like the fact that BG says you are a chosen one...but then shows a video of another chosen one getting tossed off a building by Sarevok. Fallout was good too...it was definitely more of an outcast role than a chose one role.

Don't forget that there was a rather long gap between Warcraft II and III, and a pretty long gap between Diablo I and II. Blizzard takes their time on these games. Also, the original Starcraft is still being played heavily, so they probably don't want to kill that yet.

I agree with Setzer. It seems like a very solid project, reminiscent of HoMM II. If they put in an opera soundtrack, it will be heavenly. I expect the bugs to be ironed out eventually, I never judge a game based on that. The only real mystery will be the storyline. It worries me a bit, because the map descriptions are clearly written in broken English. My big question is if they hired a decent writer to tackle the campaign game.
