I would ignore all the MMO naysayers here, it's a genre of games they dislike, but there are a lot of folks that play them regularly on these forums. WoW really is worth a try if you have an interest in the genre, it is king because it does so much so well. But downloading on dial-up is pretty rough. If you go to a store and buy the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, that will get you fairly well updated, you will probably only have to dl'ed a gig or two. Then you will have to deal with the lag, but from what I've heard, WoW is playable on dial-up.

You are missing the fact that they are easy to pick up for a wide range of audiences, and they are built around a mechanic that is familiar to non-gamers. It's not my cup of tea, but I'm very happy for what they've done to the gaming industry. I think I'd be more into it if I had a group of people to play with in person on a regular basis.

Well, maybe they will make a PC game with the setting! Actually it one of the cooler settings out there, I'm glad to hear they are bringing it back into the spotlight.

2012 is the end of the Mayan calendar, and from what we've been able to decipher, December 26th (or 24th, or 12th, depending on your sources) they say the world will end as we know it. Mayan astronomers were amazingly accurate in regard to celestial events, so there you go.

The ending of The Machinist is worth the wait, I wasn't quite expecting it to end the way it did.

I thought Doom 3 was decent. It was more a victim of the fact that a lot of people have been making these FPS 'go into a base and fight stuff' games and there was nothing to really separate it from the crowd, other than the fact you couldn't put a flashlight on your gun. Rage looks great though, I'll pick it up down the road probably.

So is it safe to say the once weak NL west is one of the best divisions in baseball? Nah, it's still pretty weak, other than the Dodgers the teams all have some pretty serious flaws. The Giants have very little power in the line up. I don't know enough about Colorado to say how good they are.

I agree with Gfted on the extinction issue. My wife spent a year in Japan and she said the whale meat is so ridiculously expensive that only the very wealthy buy it. I'm not really sure how I feel about it, I see both sides having some legitimate concerns.

I'm a little surprised at the negativity over a webcomic. I respect anyone who does one, even if it isn't my cup of tea. It takes work and the odds of finding success doing them are seriously minuscule. That being said, I didn't even notice xkcd had a community. He rarely updates his news page.

I ordered Baldur's Gate off Amazon so I look forward to playing that in a couple days. It comes with Tales of the Sword Coast, which I never played, so I'm interested in seeing that.

I agree with the Sanitarium sentiments. Winback - One of the first games to usea cover system, probably one of the best games I played on the N64.

Didn't Medal of Honor come before Call of Duty? Definitely a good list though, people can argue about the order, but other than maybe Crysis (it is an amazing engine) most of those games deserve a place in any top game list.
