But here is the part you missed Volourn. I've pm'ed you about this a few time, I find it concerning that you spend so much time on this forum and don't seem interested in building a friendship. I totally get you not wanting to befriend me, but I would think there would be somebody on this forum that, over the years, you would consider a friend. I consider Aristes a friend, we've had some great conversations, we've talked about getting together for a game of LotRO. There are a lot of other folks I consider buddies on this board, that is why I come here on a daily basis. In fact I almost always disagree with Hades/Sand/Killian on most topics, but as a board buddy I really do hope he's happy and doing well for himself in life. Now I know Lord of Flies isn't here to build relationships, and most likely he will disappear in a few months when he finds another new group to argue with, but it's odd for a long-term resident to be so resistant to being an a real person on these forums. We don't know what your profession is, what your family is like, whether you have pets...and it's odd.

Have you befriended other people on the forum?

There are people who go on forums to chat and build relationships with other posters, and there are people who go on forums for some other purpose. Volourn and Lord of Flies seem to be trying to fulfill that other purpose, but I honestly just don't get it.

I can agree with that. I also miss buying a CD and listening to it from start to finish. With MP3's, even if I get the whole album, I rarely listen to all the songs in order, and some musicians create their CD's with almost a story from one track to the next.

Plus, you are looking at a very low cost. I'm not going to be up at night anguishing over my 99 cent MP3 purchases.

I'm a couple hundred days into my campaign, I'm a vassal to the Nords and I have two towns and a castle. I'm having trouble helping my towns get wealthier, I've built mills and done a few of the quests, but they are still dirt poor.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KingsIsle_Entertainment Great, another pro wasted on an MMO. This isn't fine, and caused me to rhyme. Looks like he is making youth orientated games, which is actually probably a perfect set-up for an eventual Commander Keen revival. I can see it being a fun E-rated game.

I really enjoyed my subscription to Rhapsody as well, but the DRM synching was a hassle. Basically I had to plug my MP3 player in once a month to update my subscription, but it was always having trouble recognizing the device and renewing the license. I think it was more of an issue with my IP and Rhapsody though. If it had worked smoothly, I never would have cancelled it.

Exactly, people connect with celebrities, and when that connection is severed it is a loss for that individual. There are plenty of celebrities I don't connect with, and it wouldn't matter much to me if they passed away. But I'm not going to tell someone who is feeling that loss that "kids are dying in Africa." Why don't you start protesting funerals next?

*personally, i think the concept of a higher power is beyond the capacity of a child, particularly grade school or younger children. i "believed" because i was afraid not to. did that make it a sincere, honest belief? certainly not. it was not till my teens that i began to see "the other side," so to speak. Definitely agree with this. I roll my eyes whenever I have students who claim to have the right spiritual answer. Both atheist and religious kids actually creep me out. Just enjoy being a kid and worry about spiritual matters when you become an angst ridden teenager.

Hey, guess what, going into a thread where people are discussing the life and death of a public figure and pointing out that people die all the time doesn't make you morally superior, it makes you an insensitive douche. The point of celebrity is that many people connect with them, trying to make people feel bad about that connection isn't necessary.

Commander Keen revival is imminent.

I'm hoping someone will post impressions of Blood Bowl, it looks cool but I've heard nothing about it.

I've been beating my head against a network of computers all day. I have internet up and running, but I can't get one computer to talk to the server. It sucks.

I believe we will transcend our mortal shells and achieve a new stage of awareness. It will basically be like opening a doorway to another plane of existence. It will happen in December 24th, 2012.

Your commentary ruined the comics.

But did you actually buy the game? I'm just saying...

BREAKING NEWS: BIOWARE AND MYTHIC MERGE
Hurlshort replied to Llyranor's topic in Computer and Console
I wonder why that happened? *points at evul EA* Are you kidding? Mythic missed deadline after deadline on WAR. If you go into work and start a 3 year project, and it gets stretched into a 5 year project, you have messed up and you are lucky you don't get fired. I'm surprised how much time they were actually given on the game. -
Huh, I'm a bit surprised Bethesda would make this move, they don't buy studios all that often and this is the first big name one. Although id doesn't have a lot in the pipeline that I can think of, Doom and Quakewars...have they worked on anything else in the last 5 years? All this really tells me is that Bethesda is doing very well for itself, and I don't see that as a negative at all.

BREAKING NEWS: BIOWARE AND MYTHIC MERGE
Hurlshort replied to Llyranor's topic in Computer and Console
I see this as a positive. Bioware will get access to a team of dedicated MMO developers. Mythic also was likely in jeopardy with WAR not meeting expectations, and this is probably the best way for them to not face major cutbacks. WAR is not a bad game, it's a buggy game that had to cut a ton of content to finally make a release date. Maybe this will give Mythic the time it needs to fix it up and find a stable audience. -
The Cards were founded in 1920? Were they in a different place?

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000129/ I just went through the list, amazing that he's only done 34 films or so. And really, there isn't a stinker in the bunch. So maybe he's over-rated or rides other people's coat tails, but he sure knows how to pick a screenplay. Born on the 4th of July is a pretty solid one where he had no supporting cast that I can remember.

I don't think I can name a film where Tom Cruise was a negative to the equation. He's a fantastic actor. I don't let his loony cult stuff interfere with my ability to enjoy a good movie.

How do you feel about playing multiple characters?
Hurlshort replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Computer and Console
There are games that have done it well, but overall it is pretty jarring. I think it is very different than movies or TV because you are actually controlling the character. You invest yourself into one person, and then you get jumped to another. Indigo Prophecy did it well though, and it was necessary to move the storyline forward. -
Hmm, I think Dumbledore fits the Old Ben Kenobi role better than Hagrid, but I won't spoil why for sluggo. Ron Weasely is no Harrison Ford!
