  1. CCP is hopefully setting their expectations realistically. They are the developers of Eve Online, so they know how to take a smaller subscription base and make a successful product. I really doubt they are looking at challenging Blizzard for sales. I imagine they will compete with the Secret World MMO more than either Blizzard or Bioware. Why do I keep reading statements that make the MMO genre seem like a winner take all deathmatch?
  2. I was a fan of metal until I hit my mid-twenties, then it started giving me a headache. Now I listen to Enya.
  3. Mount and Blade - Game is seriously addicting. I got my first piece of land, I'm a vassal for the Nords. I'm also dragging around 3 Swadian lords as prisoners, where the heck is the bounty for these guys?
  4. If you read the story, it would have been a tough case to win in court for a DA. The only card the DA had is the elevated blood alcohol level, and .126 is not something that will get you a long jail time unless you have a history. The pedestrian was running across a fast moving intersection. It sounds like the deal he got was in the best interests of all parties.
  5. Huh, wadda you know. @Hurlshot: Are you somehow affiliated with that developer? Nope, just interested in the game, and Harlequin was looking for a newshound so I volunteered. So far it's been pretty quiet, but I think the site will pick up a lot with the official announcement.
  6. Wow that's sneaky, real sneaky. It is, I missed it at first as well. I think Harlequin means trickster.
  7. A couple guys on my hockey team mentioned that Pronger got traded to the Kings for Jack Johnson, but I don't see it anywhere in the news.
  8. I didn't read through all the posts, but right now I'm playing Mount & Blade, which is fairly inferior in the graphics department. But I'm loving the gameplay! I believe it has also managed some success from a business standpoint, but I don't have any numbers to back that up. Braid is different, it is purposefully stylized to look like that. AoC and M&B would both probably be happy to look a lot better if given the chance.
  9. I got into Mount & Blade for the first time. It really is awesome, I don't know why it took me so long to give it a try.
  10. There was a solid Bladerunner Adventure game about 10 years ago. I think there is a Stargate MMO in the works too, in fact I think it's due out this year. It doesn't look promising though.
  11. It would be awesome if Shadowrun became as popular as D&D then.
  12. Pens win! Pens win! Pens win! Fleury came through big on the last couple shots, yikes! That was Hossalarious.
  13. Who the heck is Talbot? One period to go Fleury, don't mess up!
  14. taks, you are fitting the husband stereotype incredibly well right now.
  15. Actually I thought it was a pretty hilarious barb. He didn't technically call you homeless, he was just pointing out that it isn't their intended audience. You can't really argue with his statement.
  16. The Wiifit is a pretty awesome device. I wish there were more games that made use of it, but the game that comes with it is solid. I know a few folks who used it to lose weight as well. Mariokart is fantastic too.
  17. What a ray of sunshine you are! Any adventure game is good news, it's a genre that is severely neglected.
  18. Pineapple Express - I think I'm too far removed from smoking weed, it wasn't all that entertaining.
  19. But then if they decide to cut the Hoover Dam content out, whining will ensue...
  20. I used to crash like clockwork whenever I flew into Ironforge.
  21. Congrats Alanschu! You aren't going to ditch us now, are you?
  22. I've played a lot of MMO's, and when I played the WoW open beta, I remember thinking how different it was from every MMO before it in the fact that it was stable, balanced, and pretty much ready to go. Sure, after launch they had issues with too many players and not enough servers, but overall it was a very stable launch. I haven't seen a lot of games manage that. WAR was really rough for me, I loved the game, but it crashed like crazy.
  23. This is really my whole point here. Some folks were questioning why a game would bother going up against WoW. My point is that a few hundred thousand subscribers is a viable business model. Everquest 2, FFXI, LotR Online, Eve, City of Heroes, and a few others are all managing to pull in subscribers consistently and are clearly profitable. There is no evidence that the market is at its ceiling. Age of Conan shows that if you have a good product, you can pull it tremendous numbers, BUT you need to have a GOOD product. AoC had some serious flaws.
