  1. Venezuela has some serious political issues, as evidenced by the frequent coup de'tats and major strikes that take months to solve.
  2. I picked up the Fallout trilogy, 1, 2, and Tactics, for $20 at Target. I'm thinking about playing through 1 first, haven't decided on an approach though.
  3. I'm not really that attached to my games, other than a few gems. I would much rather have something new to play, and the trade-in can often make the difference I need to justify the expense. If I really want to play it again, I'll probably buy it out of the bargain bin down the line.
  4. For awhile, I was also of this opinion, but after thinking on my personal habits and reading a few counterpoints from folks in the industry, I decided it isn't too bad. The fact that most folks take that trade-in money to turn around and buy new games is the big argument there. I personally probably wouldn't be able to buy as many full priced titles if I didn't turn in a few games here and there. How many people take the trade in money and buy new games as opposed to buying the cheaper used copy? If you intend on trading it in later anyway, why spend the extra money on a new copy? I read an article or two that made that claim. I understand it fully, many people want the latest and greatest software, including myself. Waiting for a price drop or used copies isn't something I am willing to do for the big releases. Gamestop also offers more money when you use a trade-in towards a new game purchase, so that is one way that they stimulate new software sales.
  5. Did you fix the remote? That is impressive, those things are costly to replace.
  6. Blaming DRM for no PC secondhand market is putting the chicken before the egg. PC games were pulled from the secondhand market in most chains because piracy killed it, and it actually made piracy even easier. DRM came second.
  7. So the question is really which is better: - More titles sold at release, but little aftermarket or - Less titles sold at release, but more after price cuts
  8. I just finished the last episode of The Shield. I was renting one season at a time for the last few years, and it was very satisfying to finish it. Definitely one of the better conclusions I have seen on a television show.
  9. I'm not really up on RTS games, but I did play Command & Conquer 3 (or 4?) fairly recently and I thought it was actually about the same as the original except better looking. I don't see the Total War games dumbing down, and Mount & Blade has astounded me of late. I do very much agree that there are less risks being taken. It has become very expensive to mess up. Although I'd say the indie game movement is as strong as it has ever been thanks to release platforms like Steam and Xbox Live.
  10. Well, they are way shorter now and there are a lot of crappy games that still cost $60(Like the Terminator Salvation game). Lots of companies have also gone under because of the increasing costs to stay competitive and more will probably follow. There have always been plenty of crappy games available at full price, and length has more to do with genre. Adventure games were hugely popular back in the day, but most of them could be completed in about 10 hours. Early FPS games were also very short. The RPG genre is the only one that has taken a serious hit in game time that I can think of.
  11. Thanks for the offer! I could probably just order it online though, so don't worry about putting yourself out. I'm actually thinking about subscribing to a beer of the month club or something, I really like trying a good variety of stuff.
  12. That extra $10 has been explained, but we really should be surprised that games aren't more. They haven't really had many price jumps in the last decade despite rising costs everywhere else.
  13. Is this the original Xbox, I take it? Fable II had a lot of issues on the 360. My solution was to give up.
  14. That was the point, he did what his position as king required him to do, whether he liked it or not. And that was the climax, so it was supposed to be jarring. And no, I don't think he was But to be honest, I thought the rest of the book was extremely well written, and it really has me looking forward to the game.
  15. Oblivion and Mount And Blade - If these two games were somehow combined, it might be kinda cool. I don't know how it would work.
  16. I finished the book. It was pretty good.
  17. I spent an hour haggling with my Satellite internet provider to get my download cap penalty removed. I get 16.6 gigs of downloads for a 30 day period, and I didn't realize how little that can be. They removed it and I'm back up to speed, but I'm really missing high speed internet.
  18. I remember reading that they had the art finished, but they decided to scrap it and go for a different look, and this is what they got. Will be cool if it works out for them.
  19. I think we still have a few months before the English copy hits store shelves.
  20. I'm reading the book right now. It's actually pretty good, quick paced and easy to follow. One of the better I've read based on an IP like this.
  21. I need someone to make a Brenden Shanahan one, these are awesome!
  22. That's interesting. It doesn't necessarily mean the movie will be good, but it does mean that it will be wonderfully campy.
  23. Sorry to hear that awesomeness. Take care.
  24. Bummer he is a roommate, it's best to distance yourself from these types.
